Chapter 74:

Morning dissociation

Crimson Power Black Feather

"Hey, where are you going?" Maki looked up from the bed, sleepy.

It was Friday morning, and Koga, in a very uncharacteristic manner, was running around, dressing up to go somewhere. Not to mention, it was the first time since he had that flashback, that he was planning to go out by himself. Maki rubbed his eyes, trying to wake up. Koga stopped, avoiding looking at him.

"I-I realized, I need to go see Nami today, she's been worried..." he mumbled.

"Do you want me to come with you?" Maki made a move to stand up.

"No!" Koga jumped up to him, waving his hands, "You can sleep. It's okay, she doesn't want to see you. Well, you know, because of..." He made a face.

"Okay, I get it. You sure you want to go by yourself?"

"Yep, don't worry! I am leaving, no need to see me off!" He gave Maki a smooch and disappeared.

"Too fast", thought Maki, "suspicious". He took his phone and typed to Nami.

Of course, Koga was lying because he teleported to his apartment. He took a breath in and opened the door to K., who stood outside. He looked spectacular, for an early morning. Dressed in all leather, as if he just jumped off of the movie set about bad boys.

"Hey," K leaned in for a kiss, but Koga avoided it, gesturing for him to come in. "No kiss? I wonder if you found someone else, and just lied to me that you were at a funeral?" He leisurely sat on the couch, "What a lame excuse anyway... And then ignoring me? No one has ever behaved that way with me, it's... Arousing." He meaningfully glanced at Koga, who hid his face in the kitchen, frozen in place, unable to reply. He then cleared his throat and took out a bottle of water, trying to seem calm.

"What do you want from me? I did find someone else, in fact..." His voice didn't shake.

"For real? Someone better looking than me?" K stood up and approached Koga. "You sure about that? Maybe you just forgot, how it is with me?"

Koga took a step back but was pressed upon the counter by K, who looked down at him. His predatory eyes were slightly frightening. Koga could have protested but didn't.

"Hey," K smirked, "Want to tell me if he is better at it than me?" He leaned and kissed Koga passionately.

For a second, Koga felt shocked, even though he knew perfectly well, that this was going to happen. His head began to spin a bit, the kiss was in fact very demanding. He couldn't stop, though, because the next moment he realized he started getting a vision. "Shit, why now?" He thought.

In the vision, K was talking to a young woman, who looked extremely pretty, and somehow a bit similar to K. He was a bit beaten up, Koga thought. While the woman had very long straight black hair and narrow eyes. Koga thought it might be useful to watch it through, so he put his hands around K's neck. K liked the way it was going, so he began to move around, thinking of what he should do next. It was nice to have Koga to himself like this again. He felt very excited.

The vision showed K and the woman talking casually, about something. Koga tried his hardest to listen to the conversation.

"I am so done with this. It's extremely boring!" She complained to him, straightening the black pencil skirt she was wearing.

"I know, but bear with it, it's gonna end soon anyway, so far you've been very good at making him concentrate on you, and today it's gonna reach its peak, so you won't need to deal with him any longer," Koga noted to himself, that he had never seen K behave this relaxed around anyone.

"I know, " she sighed, "it's just, he is boring as hell! I mean... I know he's missing part of his soul, but, jeez!"

"Uh, stop complaining," K put his hand on her shoulder, "he will be dealt with, you'll become stronger, and we can move on further from this, and forget it!"

"I know, brother," she looked him in the eyes. "Only you can understand me. I wish any man on this Earth would've been in any way similar to you..."

At this moment, Koga started to feel certain discomfort. He moved away from K's face, only to see them lying on the couch, K's hand in his pants.

"Stop." Koga pushed him away, and stood up, "I don't want to do it with you anymore."

"Playing hard to get or what?!" K looked very hot, his cheeks red, his breathing deep. "I am on board, as long as you are!"

"Stop, K. I told you, I am not! You should leave."

"What the hell does this mean? You kissed me quite eagerly just now, what the fuck are you talking about?" K stood up and came to Koga, grabbing his hand, "I told you, I like it but to a certain extent. You've been missing for too long. "

"Get the fuck off me! I don't want to deal with you, leave now." Koga's eyes glistened with anger, but he felt weak. He thought that he might not be able to push K away if he pursued him several more times. K acted as if he knew that. Still holding Koga's arm firmly, he narrowed his eyes.

"Listen, think you should come clean to me. About the guy you chose over me."

"Uh, stop, I don't want this!" Koga tried pushing away again, but after the flashback, his powers couldn't compare to K's.K was, not surprisingly, much stronger to begin with.

"I am taking you to the bedroom." K picked up Koga's body with ease and teleported to the bed. He put him down, holding his arms, and suppressing his legs. "I told you, I am in for the games today."

"Fuck, get off me!" Koga tried to break out of K's hands, but it wasn't working. He closed his eyes and thought "Maki, I am sorry...Probably it's going to end us...I can't fight, I am so tired..."

The moment paused, as Koga gave in, letting K do whatever. He felt like a doll: his hands and legs were moved in different places, and he didn't have to do anything. Again, this feeling of leaving own body, watching it being taken advantage of. But the mind was already far away, this way there is no reason to get upset, right?

But soon something happened, and he felt that he was free. He opened his eyes and saw Maki's concerned face.

"Are you alright?" Maki touched his cheek.

"Y-yes," he only managed to spit it out nervously.

"Wait for me." Maki disappeared.

Koga's brain zapped, and he rapidly jumped up off the bed, looking around searching for K. He wasn't there anymore. Maybe Maki had teleported him somewhere. And now they were probably fighting? Koga's head was still a bit cloudy. He could've fought, why did he give up so easily? There were not many answers to these questions.

He took a water bottle and gulped it down. Then he sat down on the couch, tired. Waiting. Tears ran out of his arms, and he watched them fall on his thigh, uncertain why he was crying so much.

When he eventually stopped, he walked around his apartment, aimlessly touching things. He felt as if he was a visitor here: he hadn't been home too long. He walked towards the couch, feeling the rough fabric between his fingers, trying to level himself with here-and-now.

He then went to the kitchen and made some green tea. Automatically he poured it into the cup. The cup was hot, he thought plainly. He wasn't hungry, but there was nothing edible in the fridge anyway. He stood in front of it, staring at the cake box Maki brought that evening. The cake was probably molded by now. He wondered, how is that they never thought of coming back here, at least for some clothes, or to throw away things... He closed the fridge door slowly.

With a cup in his hand, he walked back to the living room, and glanced out of the window: Tokyo peacefully lay in front of him. He never looked at it carefully before, he thought.

The sun was getting high and Maki wasn't coming back. Maybe he doesn't want to come back, after all this... Koga felt pathetic. This whole situation seemed comedicly wrong. Is it even possible to have a healthy relationship with someone, who you are obsessed with due to some past? Koga was now certain that he was Takeshi in his previous life. He understood him all too well. Too much pain, too much pride. All of this. And for what?

He sat on the couch, looking nowhere in particular still deep in his thoughts, when he heard some noise in the bedroom. He rapidly stood up, running there.

"M-Maki?"

Maki stood there, calm and collected. One could spot that he had been in a fight, because of little details like little blood on his t-shirt, his hands clearly wounded from the fight. His nose... looked puffed up. Maki tried to smile and said:

"I am okay, we are even in our strength, so it was like a long exercise. Then he got mad and teleported away," his calm tone wasn't reassuring at all.

Koga began looking all over for the bruises, immediately forgetting whatever happened here before.

"Let me see, are you sure you are fine, what about your shoulder? Let me see it!!!" Maki let him take the t-shirt off of him, Koga's hands shaking. Maki took them into his and said:

"Koga, don't. I am fine, see?"

"I can't... It's so stupid, I shouldn't have lied to you! I feel stupid!" Koga sat next to him and buried his face in his hands.

"What, no," Maki touched his head, his voice gentle. "You are in the wrong for not telling me, yes, but not stupid. Agreed?"

"Oh, whatever... Let me get something from the freezer for your nose!" He ran off.

Maki followed him out the bedroom calmly:

"You don't need to, you know it'll heal soon!"

Koga looked up behind the freezer door. Maki was already looking much better, it's been only several minutes. He sighed.

"As you wish," he closed the door and stood up. "I feel embarrassed that you had to fight for me... But.." he paused, hesitating, and then added quietly, "also, that I feel kind of that I want you too...?"

Maki stared back in surprise, he wasn't quite sure what to do. Koga chuckled, dismissively, "Ignore it…"

"I think I can't… But, t's important that we take a moment to breathe, okay?" He looked Koga in the eyes seriously, "Do you want to eat?"

Koga nodded, realizing suddenly how hungry he was.

Maki smiled, "I will order something for us?"

"If you want to..."Koga said, blushing.
