Chapter 58:

Interlude I the ghost of Korea town

Devil hunting chronicles of the impossible city.

The woman in black with long hair, reached for Abram with her pale hand, but he vanished into the white fog before she could touch him.

"Hmm..so this ominous mist is you're doing then. Are you new in town? I've never heard of such a thing.'' The pale, tall woman remained standing, looking at her empty palm. A knife was thrown towards the back of her head, but a pale arm grew from her back and grabbed it just in time.

"There you are." She quickly moved in the direction of the knife and faced the skeletal figure of the bride, the massive demon taking form in the fog and heading towards her with Abram right behind her. He didn't want to fight any longer, even as a demon. He was more than tired, if only mentally. He had to get away. He pulled his gun as well and shot, the bullet going through the translucid bride and towards the woman in black. As soon as they were hit, her arms crawled out of their shoulders and took the bullet. As soon as they were hit, they bled but began to break apart, as if they were made of ash. The bride was struck down with both of her claws, and she answered by raising both of her arms to strike back. Her pale arms stretched, growing in size and length, becoming inhumanly long. She held the bride in a contest of strength, grabbing the demon by the wrists.

''Damn it, this night is never going to end''. Abram saw that at least she was locked in place and rushed towards her with his dagger. She stared back at him with her eyes hidden underneath her hair. Her coat began to open its buttons to show that underneath she had two more arms, both holding handguns. She was already far too close, and she had a perfect shot. These were not the ghostly arms she had summoned; she truly had four arms and even had a tailor-made black suit to accommodate them, with four sleeves.

As Abram called the bride back to surround him with fog, he prepared to hide again, but something grabbed him with force. He looked down to see that his pants were being grabbed by white hands. Dozens of hands were growing out of the rooftop to pin him down.

" Damn! " His words were cut short as he received a bullet almost to his chest. The pain was immeasurable, but he gritted his teeth and slashed at the hands under his feet, and tried to finally be able to dodge, but another gunshot hit him on his left shoulder, throwing him back to the floor.

Abram could barely move his arm, even with his healing, bullets were a pain to recover from. His arms were then grabbed and pinned against the floor. He let go of his dagger as his hand broke his arm in an instant. Before Abram could scream, the woman reached him and grabbed him by the neck, forcing him down with great force. He could only see her black hair falling over him. With her four arms, she could pin both his arms around his neck and also point her gun straight at his forehead.

"Tell your demon to keep its distance or I will end you. Your choice. "The skeletal bride was floating behind her, but she began to vanish along with the mist. There was no way she could attack her before she pulled that trigger. Abram had no choice but to surrender to this woman. He knew she had a demon, but nothing else about her abilities made sense. She released the hold on his throat to allow him the luxury of speaking again.

My question is for you. You are not from Nishiyama. Tell me, another family sent you two to kill those brothers? Maybe you are a killer for the government? ''

"No one that important. I just feel like getting rid of some public menaces." I don't work for anyone in this city. "

"There is another demon with you and at least five heavily armed combatants. It is not possible for you to not be involved with some sort of organization, yet you are claiming to be a freelancer or a mercenary. Maybe you are some sort of hitman. "

"I only came here to kill those two, not whoever you are."

''I do not take kindly to demons walking around this town, but... it does seem you gave me a favor and dispatched them. You haven't hurt any civilians, so I will take your words that you mean no harm to us, just this once.'' Abram remained silent. The woman seemed to quietly wait for her answer. She was serene about this entire fight. She seemed to have taken everything in stride. She was that confident in the situation.

''My companions are coming here soon, but honestly, I don't want to harm anyone else this night. I hope you feel the same, right? " Even she seemed unsure to fight two demons at once, the cops would be here soon, and none of them had any time to spare.

Then tell me just one more thing: that green flame that surrounded your victim, what was it? She lowered her head, her long hair falling all over Abrams's face.

"I will not tell you."

"Are you sure?" Abram looked down at the eyes, which were hidden beneath the long hair. He could see them, yellow-tired eyes.

''I have a contract. I will die if I try to tell you anything. " Abram smirked weakly as he closed his eyes.

"Fair enough." Leave and never return to Korea Town. She hit him in the face with the back of her gun and stood up. Abram was still dizzy from the hit and tried his best to stand up again. He saw her walk away to the edge of the roof, her arms in the pocket of her coat as she slowly looked back at him and then jumped into the night covered in fog.

"Argg... I think I've had my fill of the big city for now. He said, with a sigh, as he let himself rest against the floor again. He would just wait for Rush to come for him because he was in too much pain to move yet.

''So that's how things ended up. There was some other demon spying on us. We got lucky pal.'' Collins had helped to bring Abram back with them to their hideout, where Dr. Krieg was already waiting for them. She was assisting him in taking out the bullets and giving him the needed medical attention so his demon regeneration could be less painful. The rest of the group had split, returning back to the labyrinth. Abram and Collins would follow them soon, but they had to close their deal with the information agency first.

"Hello, hello. It is good to see that things went well, more or less. " Miss Amara from the information agency knocked on the door before opening it herself. She remained leaning on the door with her green suit coat in her hands.

''Is there anything we need to worry about? Arghh... " Abram winced as the bullet in his shoulder was removed. Collins was holding him with all of his strength against the bed. The doctor looked completely uninterested in his pain.

''All is going as expected. The police are closing up the area, and Mr. Ocassio is keeping a tab on things. Amazing work finished by both of the twins with no casualties on your side. I think Mr. Louise is quite sure of our arrangement now. " Abram didn't seem too happy about it, and Collins looked back at her. She didn't show any real concern for what had gone through, but he assumed that was just how city folk are.

"He got attacked by some woman, she helped him kill our target and put two bullets in him next." Amara opened her mouth in amusement.

"I see, I figure this could happen. Was it a lady with very long hair? There was a good chance she would show up. I suppose the director's assumptions were correct. "

''What the hell did you people know? Aghh. "Rush forced Abram back into bed as Doctor Krieg finished wrapping his wounds. There was no point in sewing his request, as a demon would close the wound on its own. She just needed to stop the bleeding.

''Well, not exactly. We had a feeling the ghost of Korea Town may be real, but we didn't mention it. We can't exactly sell information we have not verified, even if the director has some good instincts. Besides, I figure she wouldn't kill any of you unless you were a threat to the town. "

''Like hell, she sure got close to doing that anyway. "Who is that woman? She can't be a ghost? " Amara laughed at his obvious terror.

"Of course not, that is just what the locals believe, but for us in the underworld of the city, we call her by another name." She is obviously a demon, and we don't know her real name, so we just call her by the name of her demon, the Cheonyeogwishin. The ghost of Korea town she is a hitman; in fact, she's the city's most well-known underground hitman. Whatever the target is, they will not survive the night, and the kind of job that woman takes is to hunt down demons just like you guys. ''

"A hitman, so the Nishiyama sent her or something."

''I can only guess. There had been no hits put on the brothers yet, but the director assumed that the ghost of Korean Town and our ghost were the same. It is well known that people who hurt anyone in Korea Town ended up with a grim end. If so, we thought maybe she would go after the brothers too. I guess the director was on the mark. She had that ghost story as well. This is wonderful. This is very much our first clue to her identity thus far and her weakness. She must really love that seedy town. " Abram gripped his fist, letting go of his anger, but he didn't like Amaras tone either.

"I see. I suppose you people are using us too. Well, it doesn't matter. If she is no danger to ordinary people I rather not bother her. "

''Still, this does mean you may be able to force her into the light if your hunters start attacking people in Korea Town. This may be the only way to find that elusive ghost. Plenty would buy that info for sure. "'Amara spoke calmly ignoring his disapproving expresion.

''Damn it, if she is just trying to protect the people here, I'd rather we just let her alone.''Collins shrugged.

"We will leave her alone. She is not someone we could beat in a fight, even if we wanted to.'' As Abram looked at his bloodied hand, he couldn't help but think that as an assassin, that demon was miles above him.

''That is up to you guys, but if I can recommend something, is to not go near Korea Town. It is better if you all banish from the city till things calm down. I'll make sure to give Aurora a message when I have a new target ready. "Amara bowed her head thanking them for the assistance, but they weren't too pleased.

"Are you going to keep things for yourself again when that happens?" Rush crossed his arms and the woman just nodded.

''This is no charity. I'll see what you request. We are not here to give extra favors, besides, there is no real telling what can happen in this city. Surprises like these are part of the fun. If you are going to hunt in the Argia, get used to the unexpected. It is for your own good gentleman. " She waved as she let the room go, and the two of them just looked at each other.

''Let's just get out of the city. I have had enough of this place for now. " Abram said as he looked at the doctor smoking in silence in the corner.

"You got it, It's time to skip town and get a good drink. "
