Lucky Draw [100 word stories]
I’m a birdwatcher. It’s a lame thing to admit when you’re only 22. In my defence, the birdwatching I do is little more than peering outside my dorm room window. My room is situated across a talud; a bushy slope that elevates the train tracks. Birds inexplicably love it. And so, I have seen anything from jackdaws to woodpeckers.
One day, I thought I saw a big cat tumbling down the slope. Where birds go, their predators do too. But as my eyes gained focus, I noticed that it wasn’t quite right. My eyes widened.
“Is that a fucking eagle?”
