Chapter 373:

Mayim Mayim miracle

En Passant Grandmaster

As the Bermuda party reached its final minutes, one final team decided to enter the karaoke contest. With an electric guitar in hand, Maccabee took center stage.

"Your dad plays guitar?" Mimoko asked Noa.

"Yup, though originally it was just the acoustic, but he learned the others to make things more lively. And for the song he's gonna play, he'll want nothing short of the most energizing and catchy beats around," Noa giggled.

"What song is he going to play?"

"An old Jewish folksong, that has taken the world by storm."

As Mimoko pondered what the song could be, Maccabee took the mic. "They say the best is for last, and that's why this song is special. Everyone can join in the dancing, so don't be shy, celebrate the party we had as we play a classic tune, I'm sure many of you will recognize. Hit it, DJ!" Maccabee declared as music began playing.

As soon as the music began playing everyone on the Japanese team froze. They all knew this tune well.

"Mayim Mayim! It's Mayim Mayim!" Mimoko cried!"

"Figured you'd know it, now join in the dance," Noa smiled as she grabbed Mimoko's hand and began dancing with her.

"YO! That guy knows Mayim Mayim!? Gues old geezers can be based after all! Come on, Oki-kun! We dancin!" Iori grinned as she grabbed Okisato's hand and began dragging him towards the center.

Okisato himself was actually surprised to hear Mayim Mayim being played, but that didn't mean he was disappointed. For the first time in perhaps years, a small genuinely happy smile appeared on his face as he danced along with everyone.

All the Japanese team members, as well as Maida, Carol, Doraaki, and Rodeo began dancing too. Even Ginji couldn't help but join in, a sense of nostalgia overcoming him from his youth, as a rare tear found it's way down it's face. Safumi meanwhile mustered her strength to climb out of her wheelchair, and supported by Doraaki and Rodeo, she was able to dance.

Players that were half-Japanese, such as Ichiko, Ayane, Inori, Esma, Meisa, Suzuna, Mimosa, Alice, Alma, Francie, Arii, and Arima joined in, along with some Japanese-born players representing other nations such as Yua, Matsuba, and even Kuon, as they recognized the song as well, and couldn't help but dance to it.

"Now this is a song I haven't heard in years. Makes me wanna go back to school and relive my student days," Ichiko smiled.

Next to join the dance were many of the players with Jewish roots, such as the other members of the Simien teams, Gudit, Levi, Kristel, Raya, Avian, Rózsa, and even Danny to name a few. Others who recognized the song such as Tula, Tola, Refik, and shockingly, Amelia, all joined in. Many that had no prior exposure or knowledge of the song, slowly began to join in as well, enticed by the fun everyone was having.

"You can't have a dance party without Indians," Indira grinned as she and her compatriots all joined in at once.

The normally stone-faced Indian men's team, was now letting loose and smiling, taking in the moment to have the time of their lives.

"Now we've got a dance party. Time for my singing," Maccabee grinned. "ממעייני הישועה. ושאבתם מים בששון ממעייני הישועה. מים, מים, מים מים הוי מים בששון. מים, מים, מים, מים, הוי מים בששון. הי, הי, הי, הי, מים, מים, מים, מים מים, מים בששון. מים, מים מים, מים, מים, מים בששון {Ushavtem mayim b'sason mimainei hayeshua. Ushavtem mayim b'sason mimainei hayeshua. Mayim mayim mayim mayim, hey, mayim b'sason. Mayim mayim mayim mayim, hey, mayim b'sason. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Mayim mayim mayim mayim mayim mayim b'sason. Mayim mayim mayim mayim mayim mayim b'sason} (From the springs of salvation. And you drew water in the spring of salvation. Water, water, water, water, oh water in the spring. Water, water, water, water, oh water in the spring. Hey, hey, hey, hey, water, water, water, water, water in the spring. Water, water, water, water, water, water, water in the spring)." he sang in Hebrew.

More and more people slowly began to join in the dance as Maccabee sung the lyrics once more, but this time in Japanese.

"Now that's the song I recognize from my youth," Daria smiled as she danced alongside the masked man and Mimoko.

"I have no idea what that guy's saying, but this beat is really catchy," Sommer smiled as he danced alongside Layla and Jern.

"Tch, well this beat's too catchy for me to try n' break rhythm to swing one at ya," Jern grumbled.

"Tell me about it. I can't sneak a bite in with how much I'm dancing," Decebal chuckled.

Outside the circle, Miralem watched with a mystified look in his eyes. "Never seen somethin' like this. Wish I knew what they were singin' about," he mumbled.

"I believe it's a song about celebrating the miracle of water," Mirsada smiled.

"Wait, really?"

"Yup, I've heard about it from a penpal. So, care to dance?"

"So it's a song about celebratin' water... WELL WHY DIDN'T YA SAY SO!?" Miralem grinned as he took Mirsada's hand and began charging for the circle.

"So Sejad, care to dance away that blue?" Tvrtko asked.

"Can you even dance proper-"

"Dumb question, in ya go, now join your niece!" Tvrtko grinned as he dragged Sejad into the circle with him.

And true to his word, his wooden leg didn't so much as hinder his dancing in the slightest.

With Miralem's entrance to the dance, Diederich naturally had to join in, as did ׀uraנ and Vlatka.

"What an idiot. I'll have to beat him again for being so carefree," Red Reaper snarled as he watched from the sidelines with Jad.

"Ah, come on. You need to unwind, and the key to that is a rare bout of exercise," Skaberghast smirked as he grabbed Red Reaper and Jad's hands and dragged them into the circle, much to their angst. This resulted in Red Reaper's and Jad's men rushing in after them, and getting caught up in the dance.

"So, going to dance?" Grigori asked Rasputin.

"And you?" Rasputin snarled as he chugged a container of bleach.

"Well, Svetlana and the other Desperados are getting involved, might as well for good public image," Grigori shrugged as he sheathed his staff.

"I only dance to my tune."

Nearly everyone was dancing with the exception of Rasputin, a few sourpusses huddled away in the corners, and the Montenegrin girls, who were simply just too lazy to get up and dance themselves.

"Come on, this is a once in a lifetime deal. Don't miss it!" Mirjana pleaded as she tried to drag Ilyana and the triplets with her.

"Wanna rest," Miku pouted as she refused to budge.

"My, seems like we're the last left that want to join, so why are you wasting your time with those sloths?" Agatha snickered as she strolled up.

"I don't want them to miss this opportunity," Mirjana frowned.

"Want the full team, huh. Well, I'm the last from both American teams to join, so might as well take all the straglers that aren't intentionally avoiding the dance for personal reasons. Now up n' at em, lazybones," Agatha smirked as she cast a spell on Ilyana, Miku, Morfydd, and Buddug, forcing them to get up and join her and Mirjana in the circle.

"Looks like everyone's dancing that wants to," Maccabee smiled.

Even Raymond and the arbiters had jumped in, leaving just D.R. Passant and Maccabee in the center, but even though the two were singing and playing, they began dancing on their own. Maccabee did a round more each of the lyrics in Hebrew and Japanese, before doing a final instrumental before the song concluded, just a minute before the Bermuda party's scheduled end.

And in that minute, D.R. Passant quickly announced the results of both the karaoke contest and the unofficial 6B tournament. To no one's surprise, Maccabee won the karaoke contest for team Simien. And for the 6B tournament, Peter and Okisato tied for total number of victories.

This night would become a long-lasting memory for many present. Even those that had been reluctant to join the dance at first were glad they did, with the Baזoviז and Illyana even thanking Agatha for forcing them to dance, bringing a smile to Mirjana's face.

And as for Xiu, who came to the party bitter after her loss to Mimoko, left with a smile on her face, thankful Raymond had let her come.

"That Simien guy is getting a thank-you card from me, and I mean it. That catchy tune and happy dance really lifted my mood. Sucks I'm blue n' banned for the next round, but oh well. I was able to forget all the bad thanks to the song," she thought as she noticed Maccabee placing a pe dreidel atop the stage, while speaking with Raymond.

"I see. I'll have the hotel staff frame that dreidel so as not to misplace it," Raymond nodded.

As he turned, he came face-to-face with Xiu. "Hmm? You need a word?"

"Yeah... Thanks for letting me attend this party. If I had missed it... I probably would have spiraled down lower than Xiao Lin. Oh, and Simien guy, thank you. Your music got me dancing like crazy, and smiling more than I ever have in my life. Really made attending this party worth it," Xiu smiled.

Maccabee smiled and nodded. "And that's why a great miracle happened here. With the power of Mayim Mayim, we all came together to smile and dance, leaving behind grudges and problems stressing us out. Glad the song that brought me and my wife closer than ever was able to touch your heart."

Xiu smiled and thanked him once more before running out to try and catch up with Mimoko.

"Mei-mo-san? Why are you out of breath?" Mimoko nervously asked as Xiu caught up with her.

"Just had to do one thing, while I've got a conscience in control," Xiu smirked as she grabbed Mimoko's hand, giving it a quick shake, before releasing it, and heading off. "Now we're even, but don't think you'll always get this kind of respect from me. That Maccabee guy's song was the only reason I'm in such a good and charitable mood," she waved.

Mimoko stared stunned for a few seconds, before a smile fund it's way to her face. "Then I look forward to our rivalry, Mei-mo-chan," she nodded.
