Chapter 372:

Bughouse blues

En Passant Grandmaster

With the 4-way chess match concluded, it looked like that was all for the 6B unofficial tournament, however, there was still enough time for one more match before the Bermuda party entered it's final 10 minutes.

Now given the OK, Mimosa and Alice stepped forth and stared down Okisato and Iori.

"GRUDGE MATCH! I hear team France is blaming team Japan for getting them sick! Well in that case, not only will we hold a trial by chess... BUT AWARD 100 MILLION WWCF POINTS TO THE WINNING DUO! That's right, for this final 6B match of the night, the grand prize is at stake, but that means, you gotta play Bullet Bughouse!" D.R. Passant declared.

From behind their masks, Alice and Mimosa glared at Okisato and Iori. Most of their anger, 95% to be exact, was directed at Iori, but there was 5% directed at Okisato, not because of pure hatred, but rather by proxy.

"I'm going to punish you for what you did to us," Alice glared as she opened her game against Iori by moving her pawn to e4.

Okisato then opened his game against Mimosa by moving his pawn to f3, eliciting a furious scowl from Mimosa as she moved her pawn to e5, and a malicious grin from Iori as she moved her pawn to f6.

"And just what do you two think you're doing!?" Alice snarled as she moved her pawn to d4.

Okisato and Iori turned to face each other, grinning maniacally from ear to ear before turning back to face their opponents and shouting, "THIS!" as they moved their kings to f2 and f7, respectively.

Both Alice and Mimosa trembled in fury.

"Are you mocking us!? DO YOU THINK WE'D FAIL TO LEARN FROM THE DESPICABLE HUMILIATION YOU THRUST UPON US!?"

"DROP DEAD, TRASH! YOUR CONDEMNATION STARTS NOW!"

"CHECK!" the twins shouted in unison as they moved their bishop to c4 and queen to h4, respectively.

Iori and Okisato simply shrugged without saying a word as they moved their pawns to e6 and g3, respectively.

"DON'T GIVE US THE SILENT TREATMENT! CHECK AGAIN!" the twins roared in unison as they moved their queens to h5 and d4, respectively.

Once again, Iori and Okisato remained silent and countered by moving their pawns, this time to g6 and e3, respectively. Their attacks now thwarted, the twins retreated their queens to f3 and b6, respectively. However, things weren't quite even on the two boards. While Alice had an advantage against Iori, Okisato actually had a slight advantage against Mimosa. Both him and Iori could see this and made the best possible moves of pawn to c4 and pawn to a6, respectively. This led to both twins moving their pawns to d5, prompting Okisato to capture said pawn on his board with his c-pawn, and Iori to move her pawn to b5 on her board.

"Well look at this. You fail to see what you've walked into. CHECK!" Alice roared with fury as she captured the pawn at e6 with her d-pawn.

"Lol, you just stole my line, cuz that shit totally applies to you, mademoiselle Alabama," Iori snickered as she captured the pawn at e6 with her d-pawn.

"DON'T CALL US "ALABAMA"!" the twins roared in unison as they slammed their bishop down on d3 and their knight down on f6, respectively.

"But you two engage in incest. Heck, if you weren't full-blown Alabama twins, only one of you would be sick," Iori scoffed as she moved her knight to d7.

Okisato remained silent as he moved his knight to c3, but still maintained his sadistic smirk. It was then that Alice decided to drop the pawn she had captured on f5, prompting Iori to capture said pawn with her e-pawn.

"I don't like you. You're creepy, and are in sync with that bitch. Alice, I think it's time to get serious," Mimosa glared as Alice captured the pawn at f5 with her e-pawn.

"I second the notion," Alice proudly huffed as Mimosa dropped her pawn on d4.

Now the tables had turned. Things were now dead even between Iori and Alice, but Okisato was now at a huge disadvantage.

"So this is where things get hard," Okisato thought as he moved his knight to e4, his smirk slowly vanishing.

"Ah, what's wrong? Realizing too little too late you messed up? TOO BAD! CHECK AGAIN!" Mimosa cackled as she captured the knight at e4 with her knight.

Okisato decided to make his move and captured the knight at e4 with his f-pawn, while on the other board, Iori decided to move her rook to b8.

"Well you certainly took your time," Mimosa scoffed as she moved her bishop to g4.

And that was the moment the twins' cold had finally caught up with them. Okisato's maniacal grin returned instantly as he captured the bishop at g4 with his queen. This caused Mimosa to go pale and begin to panic, and Alice to make a massive blunder in the heat of the moment in the form of moving her queen to a8.

"NO! I-"

"TOO LATE! You took your hand off it, so that means the queen is mine!" Iori laughed as she captured the queen at a8 with her rook.

The tables had turned once more, and now things were looking bad for the twins.

"No, this is all my fault," Mimosa thought as she wearily moved her queen to d6.

"Bet you're thinking this is all your fault, and you're right. But thanks to you deciding to play us and settle the matter of your cold during this game, I have nothing but gratitude. Check," Okisato smirked as he dropped his queen on c8.

On the other board, Alice sunk her head into her hands as she dejectedly moved her knight to c3. "I moved too quickly. Damn cold. I'm sorry Mimosa, I doomed us," she thought as Iori moved her knight to e5.

She then moved her knight to e4 while Mimosa moved her queen to d8 in a desperate attempt to trade queens. However...

"Check!" Okisato smirked as he moved his bishop to b5.

Mimosa dejectedly moved her pawn to c6, allowing Okisato to capture it with his d-pawn.

Next, it was Iori's turn to deliver a check as she captured the bishop at d3 with her knight. "Wow, you're about to be humiliated again. And I get extra goodies since you're an SPCM, right?" Iori asked as Alice shot her a glare while capturing the knight at d3 with her c-pawn. "Whoops, guess you forgot I have a queen in my pocket. And thanks to that move, mate is guaranteed for me," she smirked as she captured the pawn at d3 with her queen.

Alice's glare intensified. However, it vanished just as quickly as she came to the realization that even if Mimosa traded queens, allowing her to drop a queen on e2, the mate would still be unstoppable as Iori had a knight in reserve and could drop it on c2, forcing the king to f1. Then after Q@d1, queen captures d1 would result in queen captures d1, mate. Thus, Alice ultimately moved her knight to c3, sealing hers and Mimoa's fate. However, Iori didn't delver the final blow, menacingly twiddling the captured knight in her hand, instead. Thanks to her cold, Alice had forgotten that it was Okisato who could drop and had already dropped her captured queen, not Iori. Nonetheless, Iori could still mate whenever with the knight, yet her refusal to do so immediately caused the twins' anger to peak.

"HOW MUCH FURTHER DO YOU SEEK TO MOCK US!? YOU'LL PAY FOR YOUR ARROGANCE! CHECK!" Mimosa fumed as she captured the pawn at e3 with her d-pawn.

Okisato silently shrugged and captured the pawn at e3 with his d-pawn.

"ANSWER ME!" Mimosa shouted as she captured the pawn at c6 with her b-pawn.

Okisato let out a sigh. "You brought this on yourself, now live with it. Check," he grumbled as he captured the pawn at c6 with his bishop.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT!?" Mimosa fumed as she captured said bishop with her knight.

The answer to that, was made obvious as Okisato grabbed hold of his g-queen while Iori decided to set her captured queen down and instead take hold of her captured knight. Simultaneously, Okisato moved his g-queen to d7 as Iori dropped her knight on c2.

"CHECKMATE, ba-ka!" they sadistically declared, leaving the twins flabbergasted.

Okisato and Iori had just won the game via a simultaneous checkmate.

"I don't believe it! A simul mate in bughouse!? You're getting bonus points for that! How about... DOUBLE IT ALL!" D.R. Passant proclaimed as Iori's eyes lit up with excitement.

As for the twins, the trapdoor opened, plunging them into the blueberry juice. They were then sucked through the room before being spat out into the kiddie pool, sticky and blue.

As the two began coughing, Alexandre approached them, shaking his head. "This is why I warned you two about this. In your current states, loss was highly probable," he sighed.

And with that, the 6B unofficial tournament had come to a close, but there was still 10 minutes left before the Bermuda party itself ended.
