Chapter 379:

Maestros galore

En Passant Grandmaster

"Welcome back, folks! So in this segment, I decided to do some investigating on all the players. No, I'm not digging up shit on any other maestros, at least shit that isn't public knowledge that is," Kisha smirked as images of Daria, Wiley, Alexandre, and Xiao Lin appeared on screen.

"Now we already know about Maestro Himitsu, and no, I don't feel like getting humiliated again. That's D.R. Passant's day job! So then what's the deal with the others you ask? Well, Wiley and Alexandre are public figures. Wiley's a US senator from Missouri, while Alexandre's the president of France. So anything that's public knowledge about those two is fair game. Of course, those two just don't have any noteworthy gossip about them. Xiao Lin of China though..."

The images of Daria, Wiley, and Alexandre vanished as the image of Xiao Lin took up the screen.

"Oh Xiao Lin, I heard some juicy rumors about you. First up, is that she's apparently the weakest maestro. Now full disclaimer, I've never played against any of the maestros, at least... not until a few minutes ago, so I got no clue on which one's the best, which one's the worst. In fact, No one has even beaten all 7 yet. Thankfully, we do have permission to show the leaderboard in the race to beat all the maestros," Kisha grinned as said leaderboard popped onscreen.

In 1st place with a total of 5 maestros beaten, 35 SPCMs beaten, and 50 DSPCMs beaten was Peter Morphy, which came as a surprise to no one. But it was the second place that surprised many as it was none other than Okisato with 3 maestros beaten, 16 SPCMs beaten, and 10 DSPCMs beaten. Third place was claimed by Mimoko who had beaten 2 maestros, 11 SPCMs, and 3 DSPCMs. And surprisingly enough, those were the only names that had beaten more than one maestro. There were a handful of players that had beaten a maestro, but it was still a meager number.

"Well would ya look at that. No wonder Okisato's a polyglot, he's traveling round the world beating maestros left and right. And with SPCMs competing, players can earn their badges for beating them and the ability to challenge them from any secret puzzle cafe in the world just for encountering them. Some even have the chance to go against the maestros themselves, but you'll only get all the spoils if you can actually beat one. And so far, the only person to beat a maestro thus far... was a fellow maestro. That's right, Maestro Himitsu's victory over maestro Xiao Lin is the only instance thus far of a maestro losing in the tournament. But on a similar note, apparently one of the guys on the Austrian team actually changed his name to "Maestro". What was his original name? Think it was Amadeus. Anyway, that's all for now, but stay tuned. We still gotta go over the DSPCMs competing, and trust me, there's a lot of them here," Kisha grinned.
