Chapter 7:
The Storm Within
On the surface, Naoya and Luna faced the Hybrid-SLS-Enigma head on. The Enigma began its attack as it used the scorpions claws to attack Naoya but he managed to cut the claws off but doing so caused it to roar ferociously. The claws fell onto the ground before melting away.
Naoya was forced to fall back due to the Enigma roaring but this opened up an opportunity for Luna to use her cannon and shoot at it head on. She blasted the sun cannon at the Enigma while it was roaring with the blast coming into contact, causing the Lion enigma's head to peel off and also drop onto the ground.
The Enigma retaliated as it grabbed Naoya and Luna and slammed them both into some buildings. When the smoke cleared, Naoya and Luna were thankfully fine and okay to continue fighting.
They immediately lept up and took care of any of the Enigma's attacks. The enigma itself began to grow aggressive and vicious with its attack, leaving the duo to slowly begin losing energy.
Meanwhile in the bunker, Zukafu was mostly stuck to the wall while he had his arms crossed and his eyes half-opened while Charao, who had strangely gotten closer to Zukafu was beside him, appearing frightened.
Before the lockdown, Zukafu was sitting in the classroom and after break, he stood up and walked out. Along the way, he saw Charao was standing beside the door and upon seeing him, he stared at him intently.
Zukafu didn't really care and he walked off but then Charao called out to him, saying "Hey Zukafu!" But Zukafu ignored him and continued walking and therefore, Charao went after him.
"Hey..." said Charao as he chases after him, "Didn't you hear me call you?"
To which Zukafu answered, "I did, I just didn't want to reply."
"Yeah well... I want to talk with you." Said Charao as he got in Zukafu's path.
Zukafu sighed, muttering "You're going to bother me anyway." Before he answered "What do you want to talk about?"
"Not here." Charao said, "Follow me."
There was a chance that where Charao was leading Zukafu was going to be an ambush of such but regardless, he followed Charao to outside the school, at the back and there, Charao began to light a cigarette, even offering one to Zukafu which he refused.
Charao looked at the sky and then asked Zukafu, "Do you know why I called you here?"
Zukafu answered in an unserious tone, "Let me guess... Ambush.... Ambush... Ambush..."
Charao dropped his cigarette and then swung his fist at Zukafu. He landed his fist on Zukafu's face but despite landing it, Zukafu's face didn't move and there wasn't a bruise or mark at all. Charao took his fist away from Zukafu, hiding the fact that his fists hurt immensely.
"What the hell are you made of?!" Asked Charao, no longer hiding the pain.
"What do you want?" Asked Zukafu, not wanting to waste any more of his time with Charao.
Charao answered while tending to his hand, "I wanted to ask you about an incident that happened-- YEARS AGO!" Charao's hand begun to worsen as it began swell up. Charao began showing tears in his eyes.
Zukafu groaned and took out a bottle of medicine and bandage from his pockets and put them on Charao.
"There." He said, "That should stop the swelling, now what hell did you want to talk about?!" His tone slowly began to grow to annoyance.
Charao answered "Like I said, I wanted to ask you about an incident that happened a few years ago."
"What about?" Asked Zukafu.
Charao explained "You see, my sister had been taken by someone during that time and-."
"If you're asking if I was the one who saved her then the answer is yes!" Said Zukafu, blurting out the whole truth without even denying or even hiding it.
"Its not that." Charao said, "I wanted to ask about the person who took her!"
"What about them?" Asked Zukafu.
Charao answered "I wanted to ask what had happened to them?"
Zukafu was left bewildered as to why Charao wanted to know due to the desperation from his tone. He felt like there was something to it that was important for him to know but regardless, he didn't want to get into too much detail and he answered "I'm afraid I don-"
But then suddenly, the lockdown alarm went off. Charao and Zukafu could hear the screams of paranoid residentials as they get into the transporters.
"Come on!" Said Zukafu, "Let's get to the gymnasium." Without question, Charao followed behind Zukafu as they hastily ran to the exit.
Upon arriving, as Charao entered inside and being distracted, Zukafu stealthfully slided away and outside the gymnasium, which was the original plan, but something caught his attention that forced him to return back into the bunker.
Returning to the present, Zukafu remained in his static position, appearing lost in thought.
Regarding Zukafu, he doesn't come to the bunker at all and typically prefers being uptop where the islands are more open to space and the fact that he was in the bunker left questions as to what he was thinking.
From afar, Mary was with her friends but she couldn't keep her eyes off Zukafu as she wondered why he was in the bunker in the first place.
Back in the surface, Naoya and Luna were still fighting the Enigma but at that point, they were already low on energy and it was becoming difficult for them especially since the Enigma began creating smaller Enigma-hybrids that immediately charged at the duo.
"They keep coming!" Said Naoya. "Where's Zukafu when you need him?!"
Jokingly, Luna asked "Wait, are you actually asking for Takehaya's help?"
Naoya scoffed and answered "No!" Before he swung his spear to the ground, sending a powerful wave and dealing with some of the Enigma-hybrids "I'm just saying that slacker has to help at some point!"
"I heard he went down to the bunker." Said Luna as she down a swarm of Enigma-hybrids with her cannon.
"You really need a better weapon, Luna." Remarked Naoya.
"Yeah but you've got to do with what you got, am I right?" Said Luna.
"Yeah." Responded Naoya and after a few seconds later, he realised what Luna had said before and shouted "Wait! Zukafu's at the bunker?! Why is he there?"
Luna answered "No clue but I bet he's up to something!"
Unbeknownst to them, The giant Enigma was using the hybrids to learn about Zukafu's whereabout and upon gaining the information, it splurted out a command to the hybrids.
The battle was about to grow intense for Naoya and Luna but suddenly, the hybrids stopped in their tracks and walked away from Naoya and Luna as they were marching in the direction where Toudou high was.
"What the-" asked Naoya, puzzled by what he was seeing.
The giant Enigma rose higher up, hiding itself into the clouds for reasons yet to be clear.
Despite their confusion, Naoya and Luna had to run to the now husked Tatsuya and Nagata as they were barely living.
