Chapter 157:
The Lifeless Supermoon: A Fateful Encounter
The following two days were weekly holidays. Kanako stayed at home these two days, being bored of the outside world. That 'date' with Sakiko had mentally exhausted him.
"It's been a week since that incident... since Ayane stopped talking to me." He said, leaning on his chair looking at his desktop. It has been a while since he took photos or edited them, thus he sat on to retain his touch. But his mind was filled with her thoughts, her gentle hands and the memories with her.
Kanako blushed. "I want to see her...." he mumbled, burying his face over his desk.
He was editing the pictures of all the pictures he took of Ayane. Though, he didn't think they need any editing. All he could improve was the surroundings, the one standing in the picture was perfect in his eyes.
He wanted to hug her through the screen. Through the photos, one could see her improvement, the bigger smile and a happier face. And to think it disappeared this fast...
"I wonder if she knows about the fact that her cousin manipulated her middle school bully... what was his name again? I remember its... Masato. Does she know that?" He thought, looking at Ayane's smiling pictures. "If she does... why didn't she tell me?"
Doubt grew inside him, before he shook it away.
"Why would she tell me anyways? What am I to her? She doesn't need to tell me." He mumbled. So thats right... the reason is that he is currently nothing to her. But he wanted to be something, something dear in her life.
"If I had been brave and dealt with my feelings instead of ignoring them... maybe I could've prevented this from happening..." he bit his lip in frustration as guilt fills in his heart.
He peeked outside. It was a lovely night sky, the stars filling the horizon. He hasn't practiced his photography for about ten days, and today might be the perfect time for him to do that. And also to clear up his guilt filled mind.
"Maybe I should head out." He took his camera and headed. He let his body go where it wanted to go, as he gazed over the sea waters, the night sky and the almost empty roads, taking pictures along the way.
But his body also seem to be affected by his mental state, as it wandered about before it went to that abandoned rusty bridge, the place where they first met.
But he stopped before he got on the bridge. Something stopped him, and it was his own morality. His mind cannot accept his coming to this place until the problem resolved. But there was another reason...
It was not a supermoon night that night, but he froze as he saw 'his' supermoon stargazing under a tree near the bridge...
