Chapter 159:
The Lifeless Supermoon: A Fateful Encounter
He didn't demand an explanation... but I wanted to tell him everything. Right now, I didn't care about the blackmail, about anything. I just don't want him to get caught in the web that she was making...
I pressed his hands hard, trying to grab his attention. His hands were hard, warm and comfy. Blood rushed to my face, and I felt hot in this cool weather. I opened my mouth, trying to tell him everything...
But I couldn't. The image of my mother flashed in my eyes. She was the one who protected me from my dad's abuse. She took the initiative of divorce even though she also went through abuse like me, I know it. She just didn't tell me about it.
Even now, she is working a full time job along with many part time ones too... just for us to live under a roof with all the facilities. I felt ashamed... of my own emotions. What the heck was I even doing? My mom is working hard, thinking her daughter is studying at school to get a good can comfortable life. But she is here, contemplating about love and other trivial matters.
If I happen to tell him everything now, and Sakiko nee-san happens to call dad and gives him our home location, then what will happen to mom? Can I really sacrifice such a big thing just for the sake of love?
I can't. Mom is already going through a lot. I can't let her take any more burdens. After all, I don't pay the bills, she does.
"You don't have to tell me anything." Kanako pressed my palm in return. "I will figure it out myself."
I looked at him, astonished. My vision went blurry, looking at his face. Before I knew it I was crying a waterfall. "You know... it isn't intentional... please... believe me... I am not ignoring you... I am not trying to hide anything from you... I.. I.."
"I know." He replied. "I trust you. So could you trust me in return until I figure things out? Remember? I promised that I will support you that day? I don't back away from my words."
I nodded as I hid between my hands, trying not to show my ugly crying face. Kanako is really very kind... even though I avoided him, he kept searching for me.
I sobered up a bit. I have made my mind. "When... this all comes to an end, I will tell you everything... okay?"
"Sure!" Kanako smiled, astonished bright as the sun. He picked up my face with both of the palm of his hands, wiping my tears with his thumb. My face reddened, seeing him this close to my face. My heart skipped beats, as I avoided eye contact, while he giggled looking at my childish expression.
