Drastic measures.

"How is Ayane-chan doing? Is she okay?" Kanako asked, biting on his melon bread on the school rooftop. He leaned on the railing as the humid wind blew by. Today after school, Kanako was going to meet with Sakiko at the train station.

"She is now crying a lot less, almost none at all. But..." Miko averted her eyes, pained by Ayane's expression these days. She stood there awkwardly in front of Kanako. "She... seems paranoid... for some reason."

Kanako wrinkled his eyebrows. "But wasn't she a bit better just two days ago?"

That's what he thought, because he met with Ayane a few days back. When he came to school the next day, she seemed fine. But now, she is again being paranoid.

"You know-" Miko's voice jumped in tension and anxiety. "This isn't just right!"

Kanako looked at her eyes, glinting with worry under the suns rays. It made him feel guilty. At one corner of his heart, he thought things might have been better if he wasn't here in the first place...

"Hey!" Miko brought him back to reality. "How are you so calm about this!!? Don't you worry about her at all??!"

Miko snapped at him, seeing his oddly calm expression. Her eyes were filled up with tears. She had never raised her voice over someone like this. But at this point, she couldn't believe he could keep his calm still now.

"It's been what?? Almost 10 days this is happening!! Consider her feelings for a bit!!?! She has been secretly crying all these days, you know??!? Yet you don't seem to care..." she lashed out. Her whole body stood there as she shivered in anger, before she ran away from the roof.

Kanako sighed a heavy sigh. He turned around and looked down the school building, not knowing what to do with this guilt that he is facing.

"I know... I know it all... how much she cried... how much she suffered..." he got flashbacks about the tortures Ayane told she faced. He buried his face under his arms.

"Wheres I, on the name of investigation... went on a date with a random girl... and today too..." Kanako sighed again. All these pain is making him forget to breathe. "But... what can I do at this situation... I don't know anything..."

Tear beads formed at the corner of his eyes as he remembered the pasts. Oh how he wishes for them to go back the way they were before. But little did he know that life is never going to go back after today.

"Every time I tried to get close to her, she always got back in fear of something. So if I can't solve her fear today, then..." Kanako mumbled.

He was going to take a drastic measure which he doesn't know if it will work or not. Regardless of the outcome, his heart cant take it any longer. Both this guilty feeling and his feelings for Ayane.
