Chapter 3:
The Cryptid Killer
Dan regained his composure, wiping the tears from his eyes. He suddenly got serious.
“I better start telling you about the next murder or we are going to run out of time.”
Both agents sat and Thompson restarted the tape recorder.
Dan began talking about the next murder:
For the next one I really wanted to make my victim confused and feel like the abduction was real. So this time I needed the help of lighting, medical supplies and most importantly hallucinogenic drugs. This time I chose another area that was wooded near a small meadow. Just like the other murder, I spent weeks setting up the scene. I placed giant flood lights around the meadow with a gas powered generator. Those big ass lights were a real pain in the ass to drag out there but I knew it would be worth it for the effect. Lastly, the medical equipment was placed into the field which consisted of a sturdy table, scalpels, and other sterile tools for harvesting organs.
I went back to my normal hunting grounds. The cryptid forum was full of all kinds of alien fanatics. This time it took me much longer to select a victim. Out of sheer random chance, I selected a woman by the name of Hailey Knudsen. She was a woman in her 30's whose father had claimed to be abducted while at the oil fields in North Dakota. When I told her about an increase in sightings, she was eager to volunteer. She wanted her father's story to be proven in order to clear his name. He was known as a raving lunatic but Hailey had always believed him.
Honestly I kind of felt bad for her, but my need to kill was stronger than my sense of sympathy. This time we went out at well past midnight. The full moon once again lit up the night sky. When we were walking to the field she told me about some of the crazy experiences that she heard about on the forum. I usually was annoyed by people talking a lot, but I actually didn't mind Hailey. Too bad that we had to kill her. Once we got deep into the woods, I snuck up behind her and injected some ketamine right into the back of her neck. She grabbed at her neck before stumbling to the ground. I let the drugs take effect and she was walking around confused and clearly hallucinating.
I slowly guided her to the fields by making loud noises that scared her. Once she found her way to the meadow, I hit her with another dose and she slowly fell to the floor. At that point I fired up the generator and the flood lights kicked on. I moved Hailey over to the table and laid her down and carefully removed her clothes. At this point she let out a groan. A small dose of paralytic and I got to work opening her abdomen and fishing out organs. The one that I thought was the most delicious I saved for last. She was alive during most of the removals until her liver. That one, I ate it right out of her. My only regret was not asking her what she was thinking or feeling when the whole thing was happening.
If not for the consumption of the liver, I think it would have looked exactly like what people describe during an abduction. After that murder odd things started happening to my body. I got a lot stronger, and my hunger for flesh grew and grew. The next one I knew would have to be a vampire because I needed the blood. The tremors started soon after and the aversion to water.
You all walked in on my last attempted murder. That woman was something special. I found her differently than I did the other victims. There was a diner that I used to eat at frequently, and she sat there in the same place every time. Never speaking, and always looking out of the window, drinking coffee. Something possessed me to speak to her. When I finally did, I realized that she was beyond fascinating and I absolutely needed her to be my next victim.
The next murder was not going to require any planning, I just needed to drug her so I could take her somewhere I could play with her. One day, I managed to slip a drug into her drink. I took her back to my family cabin…
Dan stopped talking as a loud and eerie scraping noise could be heard on the exterior window. It was almost like the sound of nails on a chalkboard.
Dan broke out into his characteristic laugh. “Looks like she's already here!”
