Chapter 2:
Sorrow Days
The following day, I woke up to the sound of my alarm going off and stopping every so often only for it to resume again. Once I was fully awake, I immediately went to turn it off, upon doing so, silence completely enveloped my room.
A quick glance at the time was telling me that it was already time for me to get ready for the most dreadful part of my day, school. With a single sigh, I got up from my bed and started getting myself ready.
After a nice shower, changing into my clothes and having some breakfast, I started heading towards school. As I started getting closer and closer towards the main road, the number of students around me simply increased, getting to the point where it was overcrowding me.
Luckily, I managed to weave my way through the entire crowd of students and arrived at the school grounds without any issues at all. As I made my way towards my classroom, I could only glance at the students that were around me.
Ranging from the big groups of friends talking and laughing with one another, the small group of girls gossiping with one another and simply others saying hello to one another was the same as any other day.
A sigh escaped my breath and continued making my way towards my class. Upon arriving there, I made haste and took a seat at the very corner of the room. One of the best spots in my personal opinion because no one would be paying attention to me regardless of what I was doing.
Upon taking a seat, I slipped on my headphones and listened to my music without a care in the world, no one was going to come up to me to talk with me, so I didn't have to worry about that at all, glancing around the room, it was the same old scene as any other day. The same people, the same groups and the same looks.
Having to deal with the same old thing every single day was dreadful, on top of that, being who I was made it far worse than anything I could ever deal with. For me, it was a shame that I was not able to end my life just like I had desired that night.
As I basked in the music blasting through my ears, all of my sudden my gaze wandered to a single person that came in the room, that person was none other than the school idol who everyone was mesmerized with, Kaede Suzuki.
Excelling in both sports and every subject that the school had to offer, sociable, beautiful and so on. There were no flaws with her, everyone loved her and those that did dislike her could only act as if they did like her just so that they wouldn't be shunned away by everyone else in the entire school.
She beamed a smile at everyone as she came in and to my despair, her seat was right next to mine. As she took a seat, she looked over my way and beamed me a smile, I knew she was just being nice to me for multiple reasons, so I simply nodded at her without paying any more attention to her.
"You're a small part of the reason I don't want to live anymore..." I quietly murmured that to myself and continued listening to my music without a single care in the world.
Once classes commenced, everyone started taking their seats and once our teacher came in, it wasn't him going straight to talking about the lessons for the day, instead, there was a girl right next to him, one that I had never seen at the school before.
"We're going to have a new student join us today, please go ahead and introduce yourself to the class"
The girl stepped forward and glanced around the room for a bit, but for some reason, I felt like she had stared at me a little bit more than everyone else, but I simply decided to ignore it and continue looking at my phone.
"I'm Fujimoto Amaya, I transferred to this school because of my father transferring jobs so I hope I can get along with everyone here"
Just like that, the class started applauding her, with those simple words, she had already gotten the attention of everyone here but mostly the boys. Her looks overall rivaled those of Kaede but in my case, that didn't matter at all, all I cared about was the fact that the only seat available was the one directly in front of me.
Upon our teacher telling her the seat that was going to be hers, she walked towards it, left her things and took a seat and just like I had anticipated, she looked back and gave me a warm greeting.
"I'm Amaya, what's your name?"
"Yuma. Akabane Yuma"
"Nice to meet you, Yuma. Hope we can have a great school year together"
She beamed me a smile and all I could do in that moment was give her a nod. Once all that was out of the way, our teacher cleared his throat and started explaining everything that we were going to learn for the day.
As he started writing on the board, I immediately started jotting down everything that was on the whiteboard and then proceeded to stare out the window. Even though there were countless other things that had happened in my life that led all the way to me wanting to end it all, what had happened with Kaede was simply the last nail in the coffin that I needed to guarantee what I desired.
As the time passed by, the sound of a bell ringing enveloped the whole school itself signaling that it was finally break time. Everyone started dispersing as soon as they heard the bell ring including myself, but unlike the others, I wasn't going to be heading to eat with others, instead, I was going to head over to my secluded spot from all these people.
Upon walking up the stairs all the way to the third floor, I glanced around the area and upon noticing that there was no one else around, I opened the door and made my way towards the rooftop of the school.
The chilly breeze enveloped the whole area and upon taking a deep breath, I sat down on the floor and started eating my lunch without a care in the world. I knew that no one was going to come up to the roof, so I didn't have to worry about anyone disturbing me from the peace that surrounded me, but just as I had thought of that, I heard the sound of the door towards the rooftop opening slowly.
I glanced over and noticed the new girl walking onto the rooftop with lunch in hand "I was looking for you, Yuma"
"Looking for me?"
The words slipped out from my mouth, and she simply gave me a nod and smiled at me all the while pointing at me "I'm going to save you~"
"Save... Me?"
"Yes, I'm going to show you that there is a lot worth living for"
For anyone else, her declaration would sound weird, but for me, it was almost scary at the fact that she knew that I wanted to end my life. Was she a savior or was she simply a weird girl whom I had stumbled upon?
