Chapter 1:

Chapter 1

"Would you be interested in purchasing any of these items?" a middle-aged man said and gestured to the items that were laid on a table. I looked at the items until something caught my eye. It was a dark blue crystal with turquoise lines around it. The turquoise lines reminded me of thunder and the blue oddly looked like fire. It was very pretty. I decided to buy it and pointed at the crystal. The man nodded his head.

"That's a great choice. This crystal will bring you lots of luck! It will help you in the future with whatever problems you have," he said.

I paid for the crystal and continued my way home from school. I had been seeing that man sell those items for quite some time now. A lot of people from my school had been coming to that stand to buy some goods and talking about how pretty the items were. I carried on my way back home. I felt my stomach growl as I got really hungry. I was thinking of all the delicious food that I could make when I get back home. Just the thought of it, made my mouth watery. Chicken calzones sounded like a good idea.

I decided to take a shortcut, since the hunger was beginning to get unbearable. I walked passed a few houses and into an ally way that leads up to my garden. I was about to open the gate but it got windy and it began to get foggy. My head start to ache. The feeling of hunger was long gone. Confused, I looked around and noticed how dark it had gotten. The only source of light was the lamppost I was standing under. I tried to turn on my phone, but it overheated, and I dropped it on the ground.

"Where was I?" I thought out loud.

A gust of wind startled me, and a shiver ran down my spine. Suddenly, I felt a presence behind me. I turned around and was face to face with an old lady. She had a warm smile on her face, but she smelt very oddly. Her dark green hair was tied in a low ponytail and her eyes were brown.

"Can I help you?"

"Could you tell me where I am?" I asked.

"What do you mean? You're at the southern mountains," she answered.

"Southern mountains?"

"Yes. Do you know where that is?" she asked.

I nervously shook my head.

"Oh. Well it's about to rain. Do you need a place to stay? I have a spare room and you seem to be quite confused about where you are. How about you come over at my house and we can figure out what to do? I'll help you," she suggested.

I agreed and thanked her. We began our walk to her house. I looked up at the sky and saw millions of stars lighting up the night sky. It looked magnificent. The ground crunched as we stepped on some leaves. We walked through a tunnel of trees. After some time, we arrived at her house and she led the way inside. Her house was a two-story house which looked really pretty.

"Come over here. I'll get you some food," she said kindly.

"Thank you for letting me stay here. Could you please tell me your name?" I said as I sat down at the kitchen table.

"Oh, silly me! I didn't even introduce myself. My name is Lilith Valdis, and you are?"

"My name is Aella," I replied.

"Well, Aella, you can call me Lilith. Now, could you tell me what happened?" she enquired while putting water and some cut up fruit on the table.

"I was coming back from school and the next moment I was standing under that lamppost all of a sudden. I don't remember anything else," I said.

She nodded her head and gestured for me to drink the water. I sipped on my water as I looked around. The clock on the kitchen wall told me that it was 15 minutes after midnight. The old woman, Lilith, yawned and stood up.

"I'm sorry, Aella. I'm really tired, but how about we talk more tomorrow? Tell me if you remember something else, okay? You seem quite tired too, you should go to sleep as well. Your room is the first one up the stairs. Have a good night," she said and walked to her room.

After I was done eating, I cleaned my dishes and headed off to my room. The room I was staying was simple. It consisted of a bed, a nightstand, a closet and a door that was attached to a bathroom. I closed the door to the room and laid down on the bed. I looked out of the window and saw that it was raining quite a bit. I fell asleep listening to the sound of the rain hitting the window.

Some time passed by until opened my eyes. It was still pretty dark outside. I looked at the clock that was on the nightstand beside my bed and it read 4:23 a.m. A weird feeling began to wash over me. My whole body began to feel heavy and my throat felt dry. I carefully stood up and made my way out of the room. I quietly went down the stairs, making sure I didn't wake up Lilith. I walked into the kitchen and saw her standing by the kitchen with her back towards me.

"Lilith? I'm sorry, did I wake you up?" I asked.

She didn't respond.

"Are you okay?" I asked getting concerned.

She still didn't respond.

"Lilith?" I called out.

The old woman turned around and smiled at me. It was a warm smile with her eyes closed. As she walked closer to me, she started to laugh. Her body became skinny and I could see her bare flesh. Her nails grew into claws and spikes formed on her back.

Suddenly, she extended her arm and began to choke me. My feet were kicking the air. I tried to punch and kick her, but her grip tightened. The need to breath became stronger and I began to claw onto her hands. Something fell out of my pocket. I tried to look what it was, but I couldn't see it. The old lady tried to kick it away when a bright light lit the room and blood gushed everywhere. I fell on the floor and tried to breath desperately. My lungs were burning from the lack of oxygen. The old woman screamed in pain. I raised my head from the floor and saw that her leg was cut off. Beside her leg was the blue crystal I purchased from the old man. It was glowing brightly. I reached out and took it in my hand.

Blue light began to emit from the crystal and my blood began to boil. It thundered loudly before the crystal turned into a sword. Blue electricity surrounded the blade and reached up to my hand. My whole body felt really warm. My heartbeat got faster. My body got really light. It felt like I was floating. A sudden flow of energy rushed through my body. I began to hear millions of voices in my head telling me to cut the old woman's head off. I moved closer to the woman. The room was filled with her laughter.

The old woman stood up. Her missing leg was replaced with a new on. Before she could try to hit me, I took the heavy sword and slit her body. She screamed in agony before her eyes rolled back and she fell onto the floor. The sword fell from my hand and my body dropped on the floor. Tears ran down my eyes as my body began to shake. Fear rushed into my body and I felt a sense of panic. The room began to spin, and my eyes felt heavy.
