Chapter 2:

Chapter 2

Kyauven

"Lilith, open the door!" a voice screamed while banging on the door.

"We know you're in there," another voice screamed. I opened my eyes and quickly sat up. The memories from a couple of hours rushed back to me and I remembered what had happened. I stood up and looked for the sword. It had turned back into the crystal. I grabbed it and rushed up the stairs. I carefully looked out the window and saw two men knocking on the door. A sense of panic began to fill my body. I hid in the closet that was in the room I stayed in.

"Lilith! I'm going to break this door down if you don't open up! I can sense that you are in there," the first person screamed. A loud bang was heard before the door was broken down. I heard them walk around the house until their footsteps stopped.

"Oi, look!" the second voice said.

"What happened to her?" questioned the first voice.

"Do you think a human did it?" wondered the second voice.

"A human? Ha, you've got to be joking! Humans are too weak to do that," replied the first voice.

"Come on, let's go before anyone suspects it was us. We could get in a lot of trouble," said the second voice in panic. They walked out of the house and drove off. I came out of the closet and looked outside to make sure that they really were gone. I needed to get away from here in case someone else showed up. I went around the house and looked for things that could help me. I packed some food in the bag I found. After I had everything I needed, I left the house. I looked around at surroundings. I decided to walk down the tunnel of trees. Then I walked down a narrow path until I heard rapid footsteps behind me.

"Hey, you!" someone called out. I looked behind me and saw a boy and a girl running towards me. Without a single thought, I began to sprint. I went off the narrow pathway and ran into the forest that surrounded it. I didn't know where I was going but I kept on running.

"Wait!," shouted the girl.

I ran and ran. My chest began to feel heavy and my legs began to ache. I began to panic as I started feeling tired and stopped to take shallow breathes. I looked behind me and saw that they had vanished. I looked around and could not see them anywhere. I leaned against a tree and tried to slow down my breathing to carry on walking. I started to sprint again as I was worried to see them again. After some time, I was surrounded by hills. I looked around and saw nothing but hills. The forest was long gone and so were the boy and girl. The sun was about to set, and the sky started to turn a dark blue with hints of red and orange. I thought it would be a good idea to find a place where I could sleep before it got dark. I walked around for a bit until I came across a small cave. It was behind a giant rock. I was pretty sure that you wouldn't even be able to notice that there was a cave if you saw it from a couple of meters away. I checked if there was anything in the cave, but it was completely empty. I laid on the ground and closed my eyes. I tried to go to sleep and eventually did.

"Oi! Wake up!" a voice screamed at me. I opened my eyes and screamed. Out of reflex, I slapped the person who was hovering over me. I looked to see who it was. It was the boy and the girl from before. The person who I had slapped was the boy.

"Haha! Well done for slapping him," she said as she laughed at the boy. The boy rubbed his cheek and looked quite annoyed. He huffed and took a step back. I quickly stood up and tried to walk past them. The girl grabbed my arm gently and smiled at me.

"We are not going to hurt you. We are humans like you, we'll explain to you everything we know. Please calm down," she said. I nodded my head and tried to calm down. There was something about her that made me trust her. She gestured for me to sit down and I did.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"My names Keres and her name is Delmira. We are both twins," said the boy. I could see the similarities. They both had brown hair and their facial features were almost identical. The major difference between them was their eyes and height. Keres had dark blue eyes and was taller than Delmira, whereas she had very light blue eyes.

"My names is Aella. Could you tell me what is going on?" I replied.

"Well, we are in another world called Kyauven. We, ourselves, don't know why we are here or how we came here," Delmira sighed. As she finished saying that, we heard footsteps. Keres gestured with his finger to be quiet and motioned for us to get back. He slowly walked up to the entrance of the cave. He looked around and then shook his head.

"We should go somewhere else," Keres whispered. We silently went out of the cave. I looked up the sky and saw millions of stars lighting up the night sky. It was a cold night and I wished I had a warm coat with me.

"Let's go up north," suggested Delmira. Keres nodded his head and began to lead the way. After some time, we came across an abandoned village. It was a small village. There were only a few houses and huts made out of wood. We walked to the nearest hut and looked inside it. When we knew that no one was in it, we went inside and shut the double doors.

"There is no lock on the door," I whispered.

"It's fine, we can use this stick to somewhat barricade the door," Keres said as he put the stick between the door handles.

"We can rest here. We will carry on with our conversation from before and then we will figure out what to do next," said Keres.

"Why did you run after me?" I questioned. There were many questions swirling in my head, waiting to be answered. Delmira thought for a moment before nodding her head. "What happened to the old woman? She turned into this thing I've never seen before. It had claws and spikes on the back, I believe," I remembered.

"The creatures are called Malleus. There are, as we know of, shapeshifters. Although, they can do much more than just shape shift. You can tell that someone is a Malleus by their eyes. They all have different marks on their eyes and depending whichmark they have it tells you how strong they are," she explained.

"As to why we ran after you, we saw you leave the house of Lilith. We ran after you to make sure you were alright," Keres was the one who spoke this time.

"How do you know Lilith?" I asked.

"When we came here, she took us in and took care of us. We first met Lilith by a lamppost. She was very kind to us but one night she started acting quite strangely. We ran away from her after we knew her true form," Keres explained.

"That makes sense. You met her by a lamppost? That's where I met her," I asked confused.

"That's the entrance to this world. There are several different ones but you cannot leave from there. We don't know how or if we can leave Kyauven," Delmira explained further on.

"Now, we'll try to answer any other questions later. But we need to get to the old man," Keres said and turned his head towards Delmira.

"Yes, that's right," she replied. Before I could question anything, they said their goodnights and fell asleep. I laid on the ground. The ground was just dirt, so it wasn't uncomfortable to lay on it. A few minutes had passed by and I could not manage to fall asleep. I got up and decided to take a look around the other huts. I walked to the nearest one and walked in. I looked around until I stepped on something. I picked it up and took a look at it. It was a little bottle with a paper inside.

"Don't worry. I'm a human just like you. Come join the rest of us! We have plenty of food and water so you can bring the boy and girl with you. Come meet me at the river that is at the end of this trail," it read. I sprinted back and woke the twins up. After some time, we concluded on going to the river. We waited there for a bit until a boy appeared out of nowhere. He had blue hair and grey eyes. He was taller than all of us. He gestured with his hand to follow him.

"I'm glad you could make it. My name is Aku and I'll guide you to our special spot. There you're going to meet Master," he explained and led the way.

"Where's the master?" asked Aku to the guy who was walking past us.

"In the main house," answered the boy in a tiny voice and hurried away.

"Let's go," he said smiling. Me and the others followed Aku for a while until we were standing in front of a huge abandoned building that was surrounded by a big gate. Aku walked inside and led the way. We walked into a room which looked like an office. There he was. The 'master' everyone was talking about.
