Chapter 2:
Soldier Clasess
A couple of minutes after they have Nhyira family have unloaded everything Joan took the kids to the schools they were going to go.
Mallory was a High School Junior, Huey was in 8th grade, and Emma was in 5th grade. Thankfully none of the schools they're supposed to go to are too far away. Since the school Mallory was supposed to go to was the nearest Joan went to Mallory's first.
The school was called Eisenhower High School, it's the school were Mallory's parents went to.
As they entered in Eisenhower, they were greeted by one of the secretaries.
"So this is my daughter Mallory as i told you before she should be in her junior year." Joan was telling one of the secretaries.
"Nice to meet you, Mallory." the secretary Joan was talking to told Mallory as she was shaking her hand my name is Miss. Herman.
Mallory didn't say anything, she just had a straight face the whole time.
"Is there something wrong with your daughter?" Miss. Herman told Joan.
"Well, she's always been like that since her dad died." Joan tells her, "I've barely seen an genuine smile from her every since her father's death."
"I'm so sorry to hear that." Miss Herman told Joan, "So Mallory you are going to be in Class 3-D."
Miss. Herman walked with Mallory over to where Class 3-D is which was outside of the Eisenhower High School building.
"Are you sure this is the place I'm supposed to be at?" Mallory askes her.
"Yep this is it, "Miss. Herman told her, "Welcome to Class 3-D!"
As Miss. Herman opened the door to Class 3-D Mallory can she students learning about something.
"Oh God!" Mallory said to herself, "I hate this place already!"
Mallory walked in and await what her class had to offer her.
"Class, give a huge welcome to our new student, Mallory Nhyira." the Drill Sergeant Harvey says.
"She will be with the rest of you on your journey to becomes soldiers."
"Wait What?" Mallory says to herself, "You mean I'm going to be a soldier now, that's really great!" she says this sarcastically.
"Nhyira, you are going to sit over there!" Drill Sergeant Harvey points her to what chair she is going to be sitting in which was the empty middle one which was next to a window.
"You just joined us after lunch, like how? You don't even have most of the stuff you're supposed to have for class yet?"
"Well, I just moved here today." Mallory told Drill Sergeant Harvey.
"Oh! I guess then tomorrow you'll just have to take your picture and get your computer. And you also need a battle buddy because you'll be going somewhere to grab your Combat Uniform and Physical Training clothes. Oh yeah you also don't have a school uniform on, i forgot about that." Drill Sergeant Harvey explained to her, "Anyways take your seat."
Mallory took her seat and began hating school more than she ever did. She felt pretty sleepy as a result of that long trip to here.
"Nhyria are you falling asleep in class?" Drill Sergeant Harvey asked her loudly.
"No?" Mallory responded.
"Good because this is your first and last warning about sleeping in class otherwise the entire class will be doing push-ups as a result of your sleepiness!" Drill sergeant Harvey tells her.
"Anyways here's your book" he hands out Mallory a green looking book, "It's your Soldier book and it tells you everything you need to know about this class, and from now on call me Drill Sergeant you got that?"
"Yes Drill Sergeant." she told him.
"That's a start" Drill Sergeant Harvey replied.
So Drill Sergeant Harvey begins talking about what he was talking before Mallory showed up which was about history.
Mallory just felt bored but she tried her hardest not to close her eyes, but out of nowhere she received a note from her chair.
Mallory picked the note up and read it in her head, "Hello Mallory my name is Anna, I'm sitting right next to you. I don't really have any friends but if you want to talk and hang out it would be cool."
After reading that Mallory put the note down and looked to her left to find who wrote the note. The person who wrote it which was Anna was busy on her computer doing the question Drill Sergeant Harvey told her to do.
Meanwhile there was snoring in the class.
"Walker why are you always like this?!" Drill Sergeant Harvey yelled, "Everyone, since Walker slept you know the rules."
Everyone was either groaning or really furious meanwhile Mallory had no idea what's going on.
Anna tap Mallory on the should and whispered to her, "Just to let you know: all of us are getting smoked and it's usually push-ups but sometimes it will be something else. Basically you have to do the exercises in a pattern which is usually four so you'll be doing two push-ups that would be counted as one, and when he says halt you stop."
"Oh! so we have another person that doesn't follow the rules?" Drill Sergeant Harvey says overhearing Anna talking to Mallory.
"Everyone when I say down you'll say "Thank you" and when I say up you'll say "Walker and Na-moo"."
The entire class did this a total of five times until Drill Sergeant Harvey told them to halt.
"Nhyira, welcome to Class 3-D!" Drill Sergeant Harvey tells her, "You will be expecting more of this to come."
"Oh Great more exercises!" Mallory said in her head.
After it seem like it was forever the day was finished, and Mallory head to the main office to ask what bus she would be taking.
"Hello, I would like to know what bus I would be taking to my house?" Mallory asked Miss. Herman.
"You will be taking bus 22." Miss. Herman told Mallory. She walked with Malllory outside of the school and directed her to where the bus was. "This will be the bus you will be taking to and from school, you got that?"
"Sure." Mallory told her. Mallory walked into the bus and Miss. Herman told the bus driver where Mallory's home was.
Mallory was just on her phone while the bus was driving. There was something that Drill Sergeant Harvey told Mallory in particular about in which she couldn't tell anyone about her training at school, not even any of her family members. The reason why it's supposed to be top secret from the school itself as only the staff and the Class 3-D students know about.
When the bus finally arrived to Mallory's apartment she stepped out of the bus and head inside the apartment building. Her mom gave her keys to enter both the apartment building and their room, so she knew where she was suppose to go which would be the third floor of the building.
After reaching the third floor she looked to found her family's room until she found it. She used her keys to open the door and the first thing she saw was her mom organizing everything.
"How's school, Mallory?" Joan asked her.
"Lame!" Mallory told her.
"How so?" Joan asked her.
"It's just the same stuff as my other school but worse!" Mallory replied.
"C'mon, it's just the first day, it can't be that bad?" Joan said to Mallory.
"I mean I don't think my teacher even likes teaching based on how he acts around us." Mallory says.
"It's just your first day maybe he'll be nicer to you when you get used to him." Joan tells Mallory
"I guess so." Mallory says.
Mallory knows that's not true but she just says it anyways to maker her mom happy.
She walks over to her new room and it was pretty empty with the except of the stuff she had to organize.
"Damn! This is going to take awhile" she says to herself. "I just don't know how long this will take?"
In order to make organizing look less like a chore Mallory plays her favorite artist Heart Shine's music in order to make it look faster than it actually was.
Mallory has been a huge fan of Heart Shine since buying her first album "What is Love?" and it gradually continued from there.
She has wanted to go to her concerts for years but her mom wouldn't let her because of how expensive concerts were.
After a certain period of time her mom called her to eat dinner.
Joan made rice for dinner so everyone ate that.
Huey talked that his day was ok and he was just mostly adjusting to every single class, Emma find her teaching annoying, and Mallory calls her school dumb.
"Well, I guess not everyone's day was great, but at least none of you had to spent hours working on organizing everything on this house." Joan tells them.
Mallory groaned. She hated listening to the rest of her family speaking at the table.
After she finished eating she placed her dishes on the dishwater and head back to her room to finished the rest of her organizing all of her stuff in her room.
After she finished organizing, she took a look at the entire room and saw that it was something.
Then tears just started coming out of her eyes because she realized something.
She still misses her father.
