Chapter 9:

Chapter 9: Chow

Soldier Clasess

Since Mallory was new here she had no idea how Chow worked.

"You just line up like how we did back for accountability, and we don't use the schol cafeteria depending on the day we will get food from the school to here, a Meal Ready-to-Eat better known as an MRE or, we go to this place called the DFAC which is behind this class." Jillian pointed Mallory to the back to the class to find the DFAC.

"How did they got an additional building in the school that they didn't mention?" Mallory asked.

"This class as a whole used to be one of the first building in the whole school and it was made to look like a battery from boot camp but ever since the school became more like an actual school this place became abandoned." Anna tells her. "For chow we have a total of 15 minutes to eat in which you can't talk or do anything at all even when you're finished. But if you finish before the 15 minutes you have to place you hands on your lap and wait until the 15 minutes are over to get out of your seat."

"Yeah you should get used to it new kid." Drill Sergeant Yeung told her, "You're going to do this for the rest of the school year. Everyone in formations."

Everyone lineup for formation.

"Forward march!" Drill Sergeant Yeung told them.

Drill Sergeant Yeung yelled "left" and the class repeated "right" and so on until they reached the DFAC and when they finally arrived Drill Sergeant Yeung yelled "Battery halt!" in which afterwards the class stomped from the right leg and stopped after they stomped on the left leg.

"In an actual Basic Training base I will be yelling "Chow Formation!" and all of the people on the middle would move to the side that's close to them but since there's 23 of you people here we can't have nice things I'll be doing it anyways and after I say "Chow Formation!" all of you will be saying "Chow Formation! Chow Formation! Drill Sergeant! and when I say "Move!" all of you will say "We are Nerds!" while moving back a couple of steps, you got that trainees?" Drill Sergeant Yeung asked.

"Yes, Drill Sergeant!" the entire class yelled.

"I hate being called a nerd. It makes me disgusted." Emily groaned.

"Too bad! we're saying it whether you like it or not!" Drill Sergeant Yeung yelled.

Everyone did what Drill Sergeant Yeung told them for formation.

"Hey Jai you're the guidon bearer right?" Drill Sergeant Yeung asked Mark Jai.

"Yes, Drill Sergeant!" Mark replied. The guidon bearer was the person who hold the guidon flag and was their guide for direction.

"Cool, now I want you to run to the back of the entrance and back here with the guidon and wave the guidon on both sides and slam the flag on this hole." Drill Sergeant Yeung showed Mark the hole near the grass she was talking about.

"Yes Drill Sergeant!" Mark yelled.

"Trainees as Jai is running back and forth I want all of you to be yelling and when he starts to wave the guidon and slams it I want all of you to shout "One slash, One Kill" you got that?" Drill Sergeant Yeung yelled.

"Yes Drill Sergeant!" the entire class yelled.

Mark ran the guidon back and forth and the entire class was yelling and after he was finished Drill Sergeant Yeung told the first two people (Chelsea and Simon) to hold the door and wait for everyone to finish.

The process went as both Chelsea and Simon would say "Let me get all the trainees in the DFAC!" and the the two people in front of the line would say what number they are and say trainees afterwards and then when everyone is in the DFAC both Chelsea and Simon would say "All of the trainees are in the DFAC!" and then they would go in the DFAC.

The process of the DFAC is that after the trainees washed their hands they enter in the DFAC grab the utensils their and put them on their left hand put their hands together in a knuckle fist position with the heels of their feet together grabbing the food they need to eat after going to the table of first table available but standing until the table is full so the Drill Sergeants could say "This table, take seats" in which the the table would respond "Yes Drill Sergeant!"

Gabe dropped an apple and when Drill Sergeant Gutiérrez saw it he told Gabe to take a lap around the table area and told him to say "I'm sorry apple!" until he told Gabe to stop.

"I'm sorry apple! I'm sorry apple! I'm sorry apple!" Gabe yelled.

"Yeah you are!" Drill Sergeant Gutiérrez yelled.

Anna snickered

"Oh you think this is funny Na-moo. Why don't you go around the lap saying, "Ha ha ha ha ha ha?""

Anna did what Drill Sergeant Gutiérrez told her to do.

For Mallory she felt like a prisoner in which she was being told what to do she just felt like she was a kid in elementary school again. Since she can't be able to talk at all during chow she can't be able to express how she felt with all of this. She was eating Chicken, green beans, pineapples, peanut butter and jelly, and milk.

After it was 15 minutes for her table Drill Sergeant Yeung yelled, "This table you're done."

"Yes Drill Sergeant!" the table yelled.

"Secure your tray and wipe down your areas." Drill Sergeant Yeung yelled.

"Yes Drill Sergeant!" the table yelled.

"Left face!" both table sides turn left. "File from the right column right." Talia was the person on the column right so she told everyone else "column right" meanwhile Fatuma was on the column left and she told everyone to "stand fast" and then Drill Sergeant Yeung yelled "March!"

The line dumped whatever remained in the tray in the trash and placed the trays on the wheel cart for trays.

And then afterwards formed back up in their original formations to head back to class.

"You guys weren't kidding when you said you don't talk during chow." Mallory told Anna and Jillian.

Both nodded.
