Chapter 682: How to Knock Out a Powerful Dolt

Narrator: Back to the “battle” between Herbie and Hayleen in the valley.

Hayleen: (Speaking with concern) “What’s wrong, Sweetie? You look ill again.”

Herbie: (Clears his throat and then speaks professionally) “Ah yes, excuse me. I’m still recovering from the after-effects of a minor sickness. Anyway, let’s continue your combat training, Miss Hayleen.”

Herbie begins charging his magic while staring at Hayleen’s warm smile.

Herbie: (Thinking) “Does she just not feel pain? With the wounds I have dealt her, she should be screaming in agony. And yet, here she stands as if nothing happened to her.”

Hayleen: (Speaking warmly) “Sweetie, what’s the next step in our training?”

Herbie: (Clears his throat and speaks professionally) “The next step is to gradually build up your energy as I attack you. Try not to release it all at once.”

Hayleen: (Speaking without confidence) “But how do I do that?”

Herbie: “Imagine yourself like a flowing river that meets at a bottleneck point. The water comes out in a more concentrated way. You must be able to do that while in combat.” (Now thinking) “I better hope she can do it because I’m done for if she hits me with that force blast she used earlier!”

Hayleen: “Okay… I will try.”

Herbie starts running toward Hayleen as she tries to charge her magic. As Herbie gets close, he tries to punch Hayleen. His punch lands and knocks her back a bit. She comes to a stop over some flowers. She takes note of them.

Hayleen: “Flowers like this growing on this planet?”

Herbie smiles.

Herbie: “You better watch out. Those are mine.”

The flowers release spores that then quickly create a series of explosions that engulf Hayleen. Herbie starts running toward Hayleen before the smoke from the explosions clears.

Herbie: “You better be ready to dodge this!”

Hayleen coughs as the smoke begins to clear. She is then unable to react as Herbie continues rushing forward and punches her in the face with enough force to knock her back in a rag-doll fashion.

Herbie continues his assault as he thinks to himself.

Herbie: (Thinking) “I kind of feel bad for her. She doesn’t come off as a bad person. Nevertheless, she is dangerous so I have to put her out of commission!”

Herbie holds out his right hand as thorny plants emerge from the ground where Hayleen’s body comes to a stop and wrap around her. The plants’ thorns pierce her all over her body. She bleeds but does not scream.

Hayleen: (Speaking calmly) “I’m sorry for continuing to fail.”

Herbie confidently smiles as he replies.

Herbie: “That's okay as long as you are trying your best. Please allow me to put the finishing touches on your training for the day…!”

Herbie thrusts his right hand forward again as dark purple-colored flowers grow around Hayleen’s body.

Hayleen looks at the flowers curiously.

Hayleen: “What do these flowers do?”

Herbie: (Speaking confidently) “They will give you some peace.”

The flowers release a pink-colored mist in the air all around Hayleen’s body.

Hayleen’s eyes begin to feel heavy as they start closing.

Hayleen: (Speaking tiredly) “Peace…?”

Hayleen struggles to keep her eyes open as Herbie stands still and watches with a pitying expression.

Herbie: “Have a nice rest.”

It does not take much longer for Hayleen’s eyes to close fully and then fall asleep.

Herbie continues to stare at her. The red cap on his head begins to lift up as the monstrous and salivating plant emerges.

Herbie: (Speaking to himself) “Should I…?”

He begins to hold out his right arm with his hand pointing down toward Hayleen’s body. He focuses his eyes on her, his eyes showing more pity. He begins to close his hand into a fist and then lowers his arm.

Herbie: (Speaking with pity) “No… I won’t…”

The monstrous plant retracts until Herbie’s red cap is back on his head.

Herbie: (Thinking) “If she was truly malicious, that sleeping pollen would not have worked so easily. If this planet has any hope of recovering, it will need more dark divine beings like her. Hopefully, the rebellion will be finished by the time she wakes up.”

Herbie turns around and begins walking away, leaving Hayleen asleep and wrapped by the thorny plants.

Herbie: (Thinking) “Time to get back to that tower.”

Narrator: Though not in the usual way, Herbigon has put Hayleen out of commission and will now be able to take control of the tower!
