Chapter 11:

Mysterious technology

The other side of the end

The team was standing in a room built around a large hollow. The hollow itself was created by ancient civilizations.

The only way for the team to get down was via elevators that were specially built for this purpose.

Lien looked down the hollow. No light could reach it, and the bottom was not visible. But, Lien noticed a staircase built into the hollow. This staircase led to the very bottom. The staircase was several thousand years old, and it had already crumbled and become unusable. That is why people installed elevators.

- “So we have to go there?” - said Nix.

- “I think the ancient civilizations built those stairs. But we built the elevator…” - said Lien.

- “The main thing is that it is in working order,” - said Axel.

There were three elevators. And they were all large in size and allowed to place large loads.

- "Five of you are coming with me. Everyone else is staying here," - Nix said to his team.

The team consisting of Lien, Kelis, Nix, Axel, Tera and five of Nix's men approached the elevator. They looked at the old and dilapidated elevator and were in no hurry to get into it.

- "Either like that. Or look for parachutes," - Nix said.

Everyone present near the elevator went inside. The rest of Nix's men were waiting for them by the elevators, ready to go.

There was a switch in the elevator. Nix pulled the switch and the elevator shook. The elevator began to creak and vibrate, but eventually began its downward movement.

While the elevator was descending, one of Nix's men turned on a flashlight to examine the cavity. A crumbling staircase descended deep into the hollow. Nothing more could be seen.

The team descended for quite a long time. The depth of the descent was several kilometers. And finally, they descended to the very bottom of the hole. The elevator stopped. Nix opened the elevator door and illuminated the space around.

The team found themselves in a place that was completely built by ancient civilizations. In front of them were walls, pillars and a road that had been built thousands of years ago.

The team moved forward.

On the walls were drawings that described the location they were in. However, the team could not understand some of the drawings, since they did not know what exactly the TDC was ahead.

Having walked a few meters deeper, the team found themselves in the middle of a large open door.

- "It's not closed... We were lucky," - said Nix.

Lien looked at the inscription on the door. The inscription was written in Xarak.

- "Third gate..." - Lien said.

- "What?" - Nix asked.

- "The inscription on that door" - Lien answered.

A few meters later, they found themselves in front of the second open door. Lien saw the inscription again, on that door.

- "Second gate" - Lien read the inscription.

- "Looks like we're lucky," - Nix said.

A few meters later, the team found themselves in front of the third door. It was closed. Lien saw the inscription on it as well.

- "First gate," - Lien read the inscription.

- "Damn...," - Nix said.

Nix went to the front door and put his hands on it. He began to try to push the door open. His people approached him and began to help. They tried their best, but the stone door remained unbreakable.

- "Enough. It's unlikely that you can force it open," - said Kelis.

Kelis looked at Lien.

- "Lien, you try," - said Kelis.

Lien looked at Kelis, then at the door. He moved closer to the door and began to shine his flashlight on what was drawn and written on it. He carefully began to read the text and remember the translation of each word.

After a while, Lien turned to face the team.

- “Maybe we won’t be able to open it,” - said Lien.

- “What?” - Kelis asked in surprise.

- “It says here that the door has two protection systems. For the first, you need to turn the levers correctly, as it says on this door. I think they did this so that foreign-speaking civilizations, or those who came from other planets, could not open the door. I can adjust the levers as needed. But to open the door, you will need to bypass the second system. And for it, you need a special key.”

Lien pointed to the hole in the door that was intended for the key.

- “No need for a key,” - said Eno.

Everyone, including Lien, looked at Eno in surprise.

- “The scientists who were here found the key and were already opening this door. However, they only locked it on the first security system,” - added Eno.

Lien looked at Eno carefully and turned to the door.

- “Well... Then I'll try,” - said Lien.

Lien began to adjust the levers, as written on the door. He turned the first lever. Then the second and third levers. After them, he put the fourth lever in the correct position. The door made a clicking sound, shook and began to open. Lien took a step back.

Nix and his men raised their weapons up and pointed them in the direction of the opening door.

Kelis put his hand on Lien's shoulder.

- "You are well done!" - Kelis said.

The door opened. However, there was nothing behind them except silence and darkness. After waiting a few seconds, and making sure it was safe, the team stepped forward and decided to go through the door.

To illuminate everything well, Nix's team pulled out glow sticks and, bending them so that they would light up, scattered them around the room they found themselves in.

The room began to light up. Around them was built a mysterious structure consisting of huge gears and shafts that went deep into the ground. In the middle of the structure, there was something like a control panel, which had only a few levers and signatures under each of them.

- "Damn it... This is all made of satellite," - said Axel.

- "Is this the material that should survive the Rebirth?" - Nix clarified.

- "Why didn't they take it for the Ark project?" - Axel asked.

- “I think that’s why they didn’t take the tihirax. It would be wiser to leave everything here as it is,” - Lien said.

- “I have a feeling of unease in this place,” - said Nix.

Tera hung with a flashlight in her hands in a dimly lit corner of the Room.

- “Guys… You should take a look at this…” - Tera said.

Everyone present looked in Tera’s direction. They began to approach the corner of the room in surprise and gaze with admiration at what was there.

In front of the team, a mechanical robot lay motionless.
