Chapter 30:
The Hunters Duality
When “Honō” finished speaking he began to charge at Osore at full speed without wasting any movements or using his aether to increase his speed or coat his sword in electric frost.
Osore retracted the darkness on his blade and took a defensive stance as he saw “Honō” charging at him unsure whether “Honō” was being foolish to run at him so daringly or whether he was being strategic and had a plan.
As “Honō” got a few feet in front of Osore, he began to jump over Osore and attempted to slice his back as he landed. While “Honō” attempted this Osore turned around as fast as to parry the blade.
After Osore parried the blade, he used the second opening in “Honō’s” guard to attempt to thrust his blade into “Honō”. Before the blade could make contact with “Honō”, he smiled before using his blade to slam down Osore’s sword into the ground leaving it stuck.
While the blade got stuck in the ground Osore attempted to launch tendrils of darkness from his hand to knock “Honō” down like he had before. As the tendrils began to come from Osore’s hand, “Honō” shifted his body to the opposite side of where Osore had pointed his hand.
“A simple trick like that won’t work on me” laughed “Honō” as he attempted to slash Osore once more.
Osore jumped back before engulfing his sword which he left in the ground in darkness and returning it to his hand.
“Strange, I remember you falling for that same simple trick only minutes ago” snarled Osore enthusiastically as he began to charge at “Honō”.
As Osore charged at “Honō” they began to clash blades each parrying the other no matter the attack even if it was Osore’s aether attacks.
While the battle raged on it Osore began to overwhelm “Honō” with a series of different attacks to which “Honō” was able barely keep up with as with each parry he did the less he was able to avert the attacks directions from him fully leading to him still get grazed by the attacks and bleed.
As “Honō” sustained more damage he began to smile more and more sadistically as if seeing the crimson of his own blood was bringing him joy.
While the battle continued it began to leave the ruins of the bear attack and travel throughout Mesuda village to which eventually bringing them to the church in the centre of the village.
Osore parried “Honō’s” attack once more and in the same movement kicked “Honō” back. As “Honō” went back Osore launched several tendrils of darkness from his body, the ground and even the sky.
As the tendrils of darkness went towards “Honō” he began to parry each and every one to the tendrils. The tendrils felt as if they were never ending as they continued to launch towards “Honō”.
“Honō” still parring each tendril was at a standstill as if he stopped for even a second, he would be pummelled by them. While he was parrying the tendrils Osore began to emerge from the darkness underneath “Honō” with his fist entangled in tendrils of darkness.
As Osore arose from the darkness he punched “Honō” in the gut with his fist reinforced by the tendrils of darkness sending “Honō” flying through the large wooden doors of the church and onto the centre aisle.
“This was fun, but I must ask Honō why are you not using your aether anymore?” Asked Osore genuinely confused on why he was as Honō could have fought Osore on more equal terms if he was.
“Who gives a fuck why, as long as I kill you, you bastard” replied “Honō” as he got back up from cold, hard floor of the church aisle with the moonlight shining on them from the larger stained glass plain above the alter at the back of the church.
“I think I’m starting to realise what you are Honō” stated Osore speaking in a more somber tone.
“Is that so mr know it all” replied “Honō” sarcastically as he began to charge at Osore, his blade now fully dyed red with his own blood.
As “Honō” charged at Osore, they clashed blades both at a stand still. While they stood blade to blade Osore began to speak,
“Name calling? How original but in that case, I guess I’ll call you,”
“Snake eyes”
Meanwhile as Osore and “Honō” fought in the moon lit church, three others watched the fight to the death’s climax.
