Chapter 696: Second Chase to the Pyramid

Narrator: Back to an outdoor area next to Ronzic’s base.

Emily, Joe, Kurt, and Pearl are still fighting Laura and Biff.

Laura: “Sorry, escaped-slaves, we will have to deal with you later. Our presence is requested elsewhere.”

Biff: “When Ron calls, we answer. Enjoy this reprieve but we will be back.”

Laura and Biff both turn around and start running in the other direction, which goes underneath an overhang part of the base.

Joe: “Hey! Come back here! We’re not done with you!”

Joe focuses his Storm Lord Eyes on them as they run. However, four of the floating lasers surrounding Laura shoot back toward Joe and hit him before he can summon lightning strikes to hit them. The lasers damage and stun him,

Joe: “Damn it!”

Emily: “Let’s not just stand here! Chase after them!”

The other three nod in agreement. Once they begin chasing Laura and Biff, they start talking again.

Pearl: “If this new order is so important that they have to stop fighting us immediately, it must be very bad!”

Emily: “Let’s stop them before they get to their destination!”

Kurt: “I’ll fly on ahead to see if I can at least slow them down!”

Kurt flies upward and forward into the air in an attempt to catch up to Laura and Biff from above.

Narrator: The destination is the pyramid, so let’s see how much ground they have to cover to defeat Laura and Biff before then.

Narrator: Laura and Biff are already halfway to the pyramid!

As Kurt flies through the air, he can see Laura and Biff ahead on the ground.

Kurt: (Thinking) “There they are! But I need to do something to slow them down! Let’s start with more power!”

Kurt enters his Aura King mode. His body now has a lot of lion aura features, including a fiery mane around his head and neck. He now looks like a humanoid lion made out of aura, along with body armor made of aura. Aura residue drops off from parts of his body.

Kurt: (Thinking) “Aura Tidal Wave would be good but unless I get in front of them, it would push them even closer to their destination! I’ll just have to get in front of them then!”

Kurt charges more of his magic to fly even faster. It doesn’t take him long to fly past and Laura and Biff, who continue to run straight in the direction of the pyramid.

Biff points up toward Kurt.

Biff: “It looks like one of those punks has caught up to us!”

Laura: “Not for long.”

Going against her usual pattern, Laura unleashes a full barrage of lasers up toward Kurt. To dodge, Kurt takes a sharp downward turn toward the ground, barely avoiding the lasers. Kurt lands on the ground with so much force and speed that he creates a small crater.

Kurt: “Aura Tidal Wave!!”

Kurt’s aura extends to his left and right in the shape of a tidal wave. He thrusts his arms forward, causing the wall of aura to start crashing down like a powerful tidal wave. Laura and Biff stop running and both open their eyes wide in concern just before it hits them.

Laura: “Well, that’s not good!”

Biff: “Brace yourself, Laura!”

The Aura Tidal Wave fully crashes down on both of them, unleashing powerful magic energy in the process.

Once the aura energy clears, Biff can be seen holding onto Laura with his arms wrapped around her. He seemingly was shielding her from taking more damage. His own body, though, has a lot more wounds.

Laura: “Thanks, Biff.”

Biff: *huff huff* “You’re welcome. My body can certainly handle more of a beating than yours can.” *huff huff*

Laura: “Let’s blow through this guy and continue.”

Kurt: “You won’t be going anywhere.”

Pearl, Emily, and Joe catch up and stand close by behind Laura and Biff.

Narrator: Surrounded, but Laura and Biff are still close to the pyramid.

Joe begins focusing his Storm Lord eyes on Laura and Biff.

Joe: “I’ve got you two right where I want you. You won’t be going to that pyramid.”

Laura: “We’re too close to fail now!”

Biff: (Yelling) “We’re above the likes of you!! If I must, I will take my muscles to their absolute limits!!”

Biff quickly charges his magic even further. His muscle mass all over his body increases even more. However, new blood wounds start opening up in his arms, legs, and chest due to the strain. Small amounts of blood spray out from these new wounds.

Laura: (Shouting) “Stop it, Biff!! Your body can’t take that kind of strain!!”

Biff turns around and bullrushes Joe with his elbow pointed forward. Joe is taken by surprise but uses his Storm Lord Eyes to use two quick lightning strikes against Biff. They damage Biff more but do not stop him from doing his attack. Biff bashes into Joe using his elbow, knocking Joe on his back with severe pain in his right shoulder.

Biff: (Confidently speaking) “I don’t care what kind of temporary damage I do to my body so long as we accomplish our goals!”

Emily: “You will pay for that!”

Still in her Supreme Ancestral Form, Emily slashes Biff with her Shadow Sword. The sword makes a vertical cut from the lower left part of his abdomen up through his left shoulder. More blood sprays out from that wound, but still, Biff does not stop. He punches Emily hard in the face to knock her back.

Biff: (Yelling) “You can’t stop me!!! None of you can!!!”

Pearl steps forward with a razor-sharp piece of crystal in her hand while Biff is not looking at her.

Pearl: (Thinking) “I should aim for a vital spot in his neck. Surely his neck is not as resistant as the rest of his body!”

Pearl starts dashing with her eyes focused on Biff’s neck. She jumps toward his neck. However, he turns his head and notices her. She opens her eyes wide in surprise.

Biff begins swiping his left arm.

Biff: (Yelling) “You think that I didn’t notice you, huh!!?”

Biff’s swiping arm slams into Pearl’s abdomen, putting her in extreme pain and knocking her back.

Meanwhile, Kurt keeps having to dodge continuous lasers from Laura.

Laura: “Get out of our way, slave!”

Kurt: “Absolutely not!”

Soon, Laura stops her continuous barrage of lasers.

Kurt: “Your lasers are fast and powerful, but if that’s all you can do then you are a one-trick pony!”

Kurt starts running toward Laura as he charges his right arm with aura magic.

Laura focuses her eyes on Kurt.

Laura: “Is that what you think?”

Laura’s body glows red. Then, in a flash, a large red beam of light that is the size of Laura launches forward, engulfing Kurt. Almost instantly within the beam of light, Laura thrust-kicks Kurt, causing him to open his eyes wide in extreme pain. The attack also knocks him far back. His body lands close to the pyramid’s entrance.

Laura looks back at Biff.

Laura: (Shouting) “We’ve done enough! Let’s continue!”

Biff: “On my way!”

Laura and Biff start their run toward the pyramid again as the heroes all try to recover from the attacks that hit them.

Narrator: Laura and Biff are nearly there!

Emily rubs her face as she stands up.

Emily: (Talking to herself) “To think someone could out-muscle me in my Ancestral form like this. Well, he must be as strong, if not stronger, than Dakame’s Council of Demons members were back in the day. He is a High-Class divine being so I guess that’s no surprise.”

Pearl stands up in pain as she grits her teeth in frustration.

Pearl: “One way or another, we will take him down…”

Joe stands up while rubbing his right shoulder.

Joe: “We can’t just stand here! Let’s hurry! They’re nearly there!”

The three heroes begin chasing after Laura and Biff again. However, reality begins to set in for them. Laura and Biff are too close to the pyramid now to be stopped.

Kurt struggles to stand up after the hit he took. He is not able to get himself back up in time to stop Laura and Biff as they run right by him and into the pyramid. Kurt ends his Aura King mode.

Kurt: “Damn it… We could have stopped them… if not for a few mistakes…”

Joe, Emily, and Pearl catch up and run up to Kurt.

Kurt: “Sorry, guys. I failed.”

Joe: “It’s not your fault.”

Emily: “We all took a beating in some way.”

Pearl: “The only thing we can do is stop them in this pyramid. Let’s go.”

The four of them enter the pyramid.

Narrator: Inside the pyramid.

Laura and Biff enter the large room in the pyramid and jump to the second-floor platform that Ronzic is standing on.

On the first floor, Zeth stands in disbelief.

Zeth: “No…”

Ronzic: “Excellent. I’m glad you made it here, though you both have sustained significant battle wounds, especially you, Biff.”

Biff: “Our foes were strong. I will give them that.”

Laura: “But we’re here now to assist.”

Ronzic points down at Zeth.

Ronzic: “This light being… This… Zeth. He is even more powerful than I am.”

Laura and Biff open their eyes wide in shock.

Laura: “Really!?”

Biff: “But how!? No one is stronger than you!”

Ronzic: (Speaking calmly) “That is why we must do the merge.”

Emily, Joe, Kurt, and Pearl run into the room and stand just behind Zeth.

Emily: “We’re here to help.”

Kurt: “Unfortunately, the endurance of those two, especially the one with massive muscles, made it too difficult for us to stop them.”

Zeth grits his teeth with unease.

Zeth: “There’s something bothering me about all of this…”

Narrator: The heroes failed to stop Laura and Biff from reaching the pyramid and reuniting with Ronzic! What is the merge that Ronzic speaks of!? What is bothering Zeth!?
