Chapter 699: The Story of Ronzic’s Fall into Madness Part 2 – Research into Blood

Narrator: Following that traumatic moment, Ronzic was changed for good. With his mind filled with hate, let’s see what he does next, starting with the bedroom of his home.

Child Ronzic sits at a desk in his bedroom. He looks sleep-deprived with small bags under his eyes. Other than a lamp shining on the desk, the room is dark. There is a digital clock on his desk that reads “2:17 AM”. He is reading a book titled “A Divine Being’s Guide to Blood Magic.” He reads out the words in his head.

Ronzic: (Thinking) “Blood Magic is a mutation of one’s natural magic. It can only be activated in one who was born with magic, meaning that the user has magic in their blood. Although its full origins are unclear, it is believed to have originated as a curse from one known as the ‘Blood Deity’. Activating Blood Magic requires triggering a chemical reaction in one’s blood and magic.”

Ronzic finishes reading the page and begins to turn to the next one.

Ronzic: (Talking to himself) “That’s all fine and dandy, but how exactly do I trigger a chemical reaction?”

He yawns and then continues reading.

Ronzic: (Thinking) “Triggering the chemical reaction can be accomplished in different ways, but the common denominator is getting at least moderate amounts of some other magic into the bloodstream. Scientists have hypothesized that…”

He yawns again.

Ronzic: (Talking to himself) “Knowing background information is cool and all, but I’d like it to get straight to the point.”

Narrator: A few hours later.

The clock on Ronzic’s desk now reads “5:38 AM”. He is having a hard time keeping his eyes open as he continues to read the book.

Ronzic: (Thinking) “The body’s focus on dealing with the invasive magic leads to altered cognitive function in some cases. It’s similar to the effect one experiences while under the influence of too much alcohol consumption. Usually, in the case of Blood Magic, the altered cognitive function results in more violent behavior. The extent of this cognitive alteration can be dependent on many factors, such as genetics, the number of times one has experienced Blood Magic, and the length that one has been in a single instance of Blood Magic. Scientists have observed in test subjects that the higher stage of Blood Magic one is in, the more likely one is to experience violent behavior.”

He yawns loudly.

Ronzic: (Talking to himself) “I’m going to leave it here to nap for a bit…”

***

Narrator: Ronzic devoted a lot of time to studying Blood Magic. The next night.

The clock on the desk reads “10:14 PM”. Ronzic resumes his studies.

Ronzic: (Thinking) “There have been five observed levels of Blood Magic. At Stage 1, the user still mostly resembles themselves but many features of their body are replaced with blood. There may even be blood leaking from many spots, such as the eyes, nose, mouth, or ears. At Stage 2, the user begins to take on more of a new form. There are still some features of their original form, but it is becoming clear that the user is changing. What the new form is depends on factors like genetics, the user’s magic, and the invasive magic. Some have even speculated that the user’s mental state can have some impact as well. This stage begins what is also referred to as ‘Blood Form’. At Stage 3, the user continues the process of changing their form depending on what happened at Stage 2. Stage 3 is known as the final stage where the user has any kind of self-control. At Stage 4, the user begins to take on a more monstrous appearance and has no self-control. The user is basically a mindless, rampaging beast at this point. And finally, at Stage 5, the user has fully transformed into what is likely a giant monster. There is no possibility of controlling a Stage 5 monster. To make matters worse, at Stage 5, it is impossible to revert. It is permanent, or so it is believed. Some scientists have speculated that creating enough fine cuts throughout the monster’s entire body would release the invasive magic, but such precision on a massive rampaging beast would be so difficult that it might as well be impossible.”

Ronzic yawns.

Ronzic: (Talking to himself) “This is a lot to take in.”

***

Narrator: A few hours later.

Ronzic is asleep at his desk with the book still open. The clock reads “1:23 AM”. As he sleeps, he begins to lean further to his left until he eventually falls out of his chair, waking him up. He rubs his head as he sits up on the floor.

Ronzic: “Oh? Did I fall asleep? I don’t have time for sleep. I need to do all the research I can into Blood Magic. I need the power to crush the light trash.”

He gets back up and sits in his chair, resuming his studies.

Narrator: The next night.

Ronzic resumes his studies. The clock on his desk reads “9:57 PM.”

He turns to the next page and begins reading. He opens his eyes wide as he reads the next paragraph.

Ronzic: (Thinking) “One such theory that exists is that if the invasive magic is similar to the user’s but not exactly the same, they will gain the powers of that invasive magic. This theory is hard to test, however, due to the extremely unlikely case that an invasive magic will be similar but not the same.”

He looks up at the ceiling with his eyes wide, mumbling a part that he just read.

Ronzic: “Similar… but not the exact same…”

He looks at his own hands for a moment.

Ronzic: “I have merging magic that can only merge with non-living objects… but my big sis… has merging magic… that can only merge with living objects.”

He smiles sinisterly as he stands up. He walks toward the door to his room and opens it. He leaves the room and starts heading for another door in the house. Once he reaches the door, he opens it and walks into a storage room. He walks up to what appears to be a large rectangular box with a handle on its lid. He stares at it with a serious expression. After a moment, he grabs the handle and lifts it up. Extremely cold air comes out of the opening. Looking into the box, Ronzic sees what he came for, his sister’s now-frozen, dead body.

Ronzic smiles.

Ronzic: “Big sis… It looks like you will get to have your revenge on all of the light scum.”

Narrator: A bit later. The time is now 11:58 PM.

Beth’s dead body is lying on a table in the basement of the house. Her body has thawed somewhat. Ronzic looks at her and then looks at a syringe in his hand.

Ronzic: “Vengeance will be yours, big sis.”

Ronzic sticks the syringe into Beth’s left arm and uses it to fill it with her blood.

Narrator: The time is now 11:59 PM.

He extracts the syringe and looks at the blood within it. As he does, his hand starts shaking and his breathing becomes faster. His eyes lose focus for a few moments.

The clock in this room is a hand clock, and the only sounds being made in the whole room are the ticks. The clock ticks closer to midnight. 40 seconds. 41 seconds. 42 seconds.

He takes deep breaths as he continues to look at the blood in the syringe.

46 seconds. 47 seconds. 48 seconds.

He slowly aims the syringe at his own right arm.

50 seconds. 51 seconds. 52 seconds.

His hand still shakes as he holds the syringe up to his arm, but he soon steadies it.

55 seconds. 56 seconds. 57 seconds. 58 seconds. 59 seconds. Ding!

Narrator: The time is now 12:00 AM. The new day of Ronzic’s madness.

Immediately upon midnight, Ronzic starts maniacally laughing as he jabs the syringe into his arm and injects Beth’s blood. His laugh has an ‘L’ sound in it.

Ronzic: “Halhalhalhalhalhalhal!!!! Yes!!! Give me more!!! Blood!!!! Blood Magic!!!!

Ronzic extracts more blood from Beth and quickly injects it into his left arm while continuing to maniacally laugh.

Ronzic: Halhalhalhalhalhal!!!!

The view now focuses on Ronzic’s shadow on the wall as he continues to laugh and inject more blood. The shape of that shadow, interestingly, begins to change shape.

Narrator: Ronzic’s madness has become extreme!! He injected his dead sister’s blood straight into his own body to become more powerful!! There’s one more part to this story of madness!!
