Chapter 5:

Chapter Five

seigneur du crime de haut rang

Mr. Karman stood before everyone, his gaze sharp, his voice calm but filled with confidence:

"We've listened to everyone's testimonies and carefully reviewed the employees' reports. There's one point that can't be ignored: the presence of a man behaving in an abnormal manner, and he was very close to our employee, Pierre."

He addressed Pierre directly:

"You were less than ten centimeters away from him, and yet you didn't notice any suspicious behavior. How do you explain that?"

Pierre answered hesitantly:

"I... wear glasses, and my vision isn't good. Just two days ago, I lost my glasses, and it was difficult for me to see clearly."

Another employee chimed in calmly:

"Pierre told me about it, and I was helping him look for them. I even saved him from running into a glass he didn't see."

Karman smiled faintly:

"That explains a lot. But, did you know that two days ago, news spread that 'Monsieur, le Crime' had arrived here? At the same time, the Lourison family's business, which wielded significant influence in the markets, collapsed?"

He paused for a moment, then continued:

"After that, mysterious kidnappings began. Now we know that Pierre was behind these incidents."

He looked at Pierre steadily.

"The murder of the victim's husband wasn't a random incident, but rather the result of a confrontation between the two of you when he tried to stop you."

Everyone fell silent, and Pierre began to stammer:

"But... you don't have any evidence to prove it."

Karman smiled confidently.

"That's what makes it complicated. But there's something else."

Karman took Pierre's glasses from his hand and looked at them carefully.

"What's that stain?"

Everyone leaned closer to see a small bloodstain on the lens.

Karman asked intelligently:

"How do you explain the blood on your glasses, when you say you weren't even near the crime scene?"

Pierre couldn't answer, and a look of concern began to appear on his face.

Then Karman addressed everyone:

"We used the actions of the nervous gentleman as bait to attract Pierre's attention and reveal his true colors. The plan was meticulous, and the result is clear."
