The sun began to rise when Honō started to wake up to find himself lying on Selene’s coach instead of dead in some pile of rubble. He began to think to himself,
— Was it all just a dream?
As Honō thought this the pain began to hit him causing him to shoot up in a low yelp of pain. Now sitting up he looked at himself as he did he noticed he his shirt was gone leaving him topless and covered in multiple bandages.
After a few seconds of looking at the state he himself was in, Selene who was in the kitchen began to walk over to him with a coffee in hand.
“I see you’re awake Honō, how are you feeling” asked Selene in a meek tone as she crouched down beside Honō and handed him the coffee.
“If I’m being honest I feel shit” chuckled Honō as he accepted the coffee from Selene before looking at it and noticing the coffee’s green colour provoking him to ask “what kind of coffee is this?”
“Oh it’s a normal coffee I just have some herbs in it that act as pain killers, you know to make you feel less shit”replied Selene as she stood back up and walked to a nearby chair and sat in it.
“Oh I see thanks” spoke Honō with a smile with a sense of sorrow behind it as he sipped the coffee before continuing, “I have to ask how am I alive?”
“I see so you don’t remember, makes sense though” started Selene as she leaned forward placing her elbows on her knees and resting her head in her hands before continuing, “if I’m being honest I don’t fully know I only got to you at the end of your fight in the church”
“Wait the church? But I only remember fighting at the beast corpses before being … pummelled into the ground” spoke Honō with a shiver and confusion on how the fight had gotten to the church when he could only remember fighting at the beast corpses.
“Ya when I got to the other you and the man in blacks fight, yous were in the church” answered Selene trying to fill the blanks for Honō.
“Other me?” Questioned Honō even more confused them before.
“I see so you don’t know” replied Selene as she looked away from Honō unsure on how to explain it to him.
“Don’t Know what?” asked Honō confused and now alarmed by the whatever the answer he’s about to get will be.
“I don’t know how best to explain this but there are two souls in your body so basically when you probably fell unconscious after the pummelling you remember, the other you took over and continued the fight” explained Selene best she could.
“Wait how could I have two souls?” Spoke Honō growing even more puzzled with the situation.
“I don’t know” replied Selene in a sorrowful tone as she looked down.
“I see does Witz or Ash know any of this?” Said Honō trying to regain his levelheadedness and sense of the situation.
“No, them two are still asleep, the only people who know are me, you, Xander and well the man in black” answered Selene looking over at Ash who still slept in the corner of the room.
“Wait what time even is it also who’s Xander?” Asked Honō alarmed that he only now thought of the time.
“Xander is the priest who accompanied Thaddeus that time, Oh and it’s uh around eight in the morning” returned Selene as she turned to look at the clock on the wall behind where Honō was sitting.
“Ok Witz and Ash probably won’t be up for another hour or so” exhaled Honō before continuing “how come Xander knows?”
“Because …” started Selene before falling silent as she realised what she had left out from her early statements about the battle.
“What’s wrong?” Asked Honō noticing the concerns in Selene’s facial expression.
“Nothing, nothing he only knows cause he walked in on the fight causing the man in black to run away” lied Selene in a meek voice as she sat up in the chair before asking her own question, “so what did you find out from the battle?”
“Not much just that his name is Osore and that he’d tell me more if I interested him though I don’t know if I was able to accomplish that or not” answered Honō as he felt the pain throughout his body start to ease as the herbs began to kick in.
“I see Osore, I will say when I got to the battle he was mentioning something about how the source of the attacks was in the centre of the forest” mentioned Selene unsure what Osore meant with his statement.
“I see well I guess after we explain the whole situation to Ash and Witz that the next plan of action is to try head to the centre of the great forest of Mithhar” declared Honō in a confident voice as he laid back down before asking in a much less confident and more awkward voice, “So Selene what did you do with my shirt?”
“I ummm have it in the wash it was practically dyed red with blood” answered Selene in an embarrassed voice as she began to go red.
“I see, thanks Selene” responded Honō a meek smile on his face.
Honō looked outside a nearby window to see the morning sky. “Selene one last favour please don’t tell Ash or Witz about the “other me” ok?” Requested Honō in a quiet voice.
“I promise” replied Selene with a now calm voice.
With their agreement made the two waited till Ash and Witz woke up.
