Chapter 6:

I will miss the laughs on the weekends.

The Last Light We Saw Before The Battle Begins

It was late when we started to make a plan and it wouldn't be long before night came, I had climbed the stairs to get a large suitcase that was in my bedroom closet and went back down to the living room.

"The plan is as follows, just me and Keita are going to the house next door, it's already getting dark, we can invade other houses tomorrow." I explained.

"Why just the two of us?" Keita asked.

"Because it's enough and I need your strength to carry this suitcase back which will probably be too heavy for me to carry depending on what we find." I answered him

"And what are we going to do while you two are gone?" Hana Asked

"I don't know, you guys can try to think of a way to make the house safer." I suggested.

Everyone agreed and they spread around the house to see what they could do.

"OK, let's go Keita" I was ready.

"Yes, let's go."

Keita and I left the house with the suitcase and walked to the house on the right side.

"Let's be silent, we don't know what can happen." I warned Keita. "You look in the kitchen and I'm going to look upstairs."

Keita nodded and we started to open the front door slowly it was unlocked and when we entered we looked around to see if there was nothing to be alarmed about but there didn't seem to be anyone at home so I handed the bag to Keita and whispered:

"Take the suitcase to the kitchen to put in whatever you find of food in the meantime I'll go upstairs and get whatever I think is useful."

Keita just nodded again.

I started up the stairs and saw that the second floor hallway had three doors I slowly entered the first door that looked like a child's room I opened the drawers and cupboards and there was nothing useful just toys and children's things and some blankets I grabbed and threw in the hallway so I could take them downstairs later, so I left the room and went back to the hallway.

I opened the second door and it was a bathroom I looked inside the cupboard under the sink and found a first aid kit and opened it, inside it had all the resources to take care of simple things even suture material I closed the bag and left the bathroom and I placed the first-aid kit on top of the blankets.

I then went straight to the third door when I opened it I found a skinny creature that was looking at me and it tried to attack me I quickly closed the door making a loud noise with the slam and the creature let out a roar and ran its arm through the door if he hadn't missed me i would be dead by now.

The creature started to force its head against the hole in the door to get out, I walked away and fired my laser without even needing to say anything in its head but it didn't actually work the laser deflected and hit the wall it looked like its head was coated with some reflective material, Keita then appeared behind me:

"What's happening?" Keita was startled when he saw the creature's head coming out of the middle of the door.

"Keita my laser doesn't work we need to break his head defense." I explained the situation while pointing to the creature's head.

Keita took a deep breath and said:

"I will try to break it."

"Do you think you can break it?" I asked worried.

"I said I'll try." Keita replied a little scared but with courage.

Keita went to the door and started to prepare his punch when the creature was starting to let out its roar was interrupted with a punch in the face but it wasn't enough the creature was still trying to go through the door so Keita started to punch the creature in the face. destroying its armor and when its protection was completely broken Keita threw a punch that blew the creature's head, killing it.

Silence returned Keita looked for a few seconds at the creature then looked at me.

"I did it, we're alive." Keita looked happy and relieved.

Keita had his hands dirty with the creature's blood.

"You better clean up before we get back." I suggested.

"You're right." Keita agreed.

I pointed to the bathroom and he came in and there was still some water in the sink after 1 minute he came out clean and we went downstairs with the things I had taken.

I forgot to look at the last room after killing the creature but I chose to ignore it I didn't want to have to open the door with it stuck in it.

"Keita what'd you find in the kitchen?"

"Some canned food, sweets and porridge stuff for kids." He replied while looking a little sad.

I knew what he was thinking about and it was exactly the children who lived in this house.

I knew what he was thinking and it was exactly the children who lived in this house I looked around and saw a picture frame that had a picture of my neighbors who were two small children and their parents and I went over and took the picture frame.

"You know Keita every weekend she brought me a piece of cake that she always baked, her husband was almost never home because he worked all day to support the children and on the weekend he was at home and ate with us, I think I'll miss the weekend laughs." I said this with a small sad smile on my face as I looked at the photograph.

Keita was silent even though Keita seems someone intimidating he is still someone very sensitive.

"Forget it, keita go get the suitcase."

Keita went in silence to the kitchen and came back with the suitcase that seemed to be very heavy but for him it was no problem.

"Let's go, Keita."

Keita and I left and went straight to my house, when we opened the door everyone was waiting there.

"We hear noises are you two okay?" Hideki asked with a worried face.

"We're fine there was a skinny guy in one of the rooms and we got scared but Keita got rid of him."

"We found food." Keita opened the case.

"I brought some blankets here because there wasn't enough for everyone." I showed them the blankets.

Hana checked what we found and said:

"If we ration correctly, it should last a week."

"One week? And after this?" Rika grumbled

"There are other houses to search." I answered "But first I want to talk about the creature we found and what I found out about them."

It was getting dark and night was coming.
