CHAPTER II: Searching for the "Night Witch"

Night falls. In the distance, the faint hum of an aircraft is heard—then silence. Once again, the central intelligence of the Kingdom of Ostania holds an emergency meeting. A mysterious figure known only as the “Night Witch” has been appearing in the Forbidden Forest—an uninhabitable zone where no living soul dares to tread. This unknown attacker uses unexplained advanced technology to save mages and knights from danger. He only moves at night. No one has seen his face. His methods defy the logic of this world. The royal spymaster, arcane trackers, and elite troops are ordered to find him.

Meanwhile, Maurice—the man behind the mystery—has already turned the ruins of an ancient academy deep within the forest into a secret laboratory. Drawing on his past life's knowledge, he builds a basic power station, a drone workshop, and a chemical lab. His first bomber, modeled after the B-29, flies invisibly at night, turning him into a living legend.

He first used his aircraft to rescue a group of knights surrounded by goblins. From above, he attacked with precision, then vanished into the dark. The tale spread quickly.

“He’s not a mage… but more dangerous than one. This could be science,” said Ostania’s royal magic adviser.

The kingdom is baffled. They believed the Forbidden Forest was lifeless, home only to monsters. But now, the Night Witch operates from within it. His aircraft cannot be detected by magic. Even night scouts fail to see it. Such technology does not exist in this world.

“We must find him. If we can seize his technology, we could control the entire world,” declared the king.

At that moment, Maurice was exploring the academy’s ruined library, uncovering ancient manuscripts. Some described the scientific foundations of elemental magic in this world.

“This isn’t a world of magic... it’s a forgotten cradle of science,” he thought.
