Chapter 1:

The Reincarnation

Relic Raiders

It was just an average day in the hustle and bustle of Japan, with everyone going about their daily business. Whether it be school or work, everyone had somewhere to be.

Kaito is a 17-year-old Japanese citizen who lives in this society. Kaito, being a high school student, was one of those individuals on his way to school, or at least that’s what he should be doing.

Kaito is completely done with the routine lifestyle he has been living. He wants to have fun, and at a consistent rate at that. Going out with his friends, to a local event, or even a festival, isn’t enough to satisfy his hunger for fun. After all, it is often the very next day that he is right back to his routine lifestyle at school.

Kaito wants every day to be fun, an adventure where he can experience something new each day. He longs for this life to such an extent that he has often wished he could just start a new life in a more entertaining world. Though little did he know, his wish was about to be granted.

It was on one of the multiple days Kaito had ditched school in pursuit of fun. He was at his local arcade trying to get a new record on one of his favourite games.

“You lose!” The machine announced to Kaito.

“Gahh! I was so close!” complained Kaito, slightly shifting the machine in his rage.

Due to the commotion Kaito was creating, he was noticed by a nearby surveillance officer. The officer, recognizing Kaito’s uniform and that he is not at the school where he is supposed to be, approached Kaito.

Normally, since Kaito ditches school often, it would be smart for him not to wear his uniform in public, but he actually enjoys getting caught, as it provides him with entertainment.

Kaito, noticing the officer’s approach, realizes that his time gaming has come to an end. In excitement, Kaito ran from the officer, leaving both his school bag and blazer at the arcade machine.

“Hey, get back here Kaito,” demanded the officer as he was well familiar with Kaito and his constant ditching of school. Though demands were all the officer was providing as Kaito continued to ignore and run from the officer.

Kaito ran through pedestrians, knocked over objects to slow down the officer, and ran through the alleyways. This situation is always seen as a game for Kaito. In this game of cat and mouse, Kaito recklessly ran through the street, where he was swiftly greeted by an oncoming truck.

By the time Kaito realized the situation he was in, it was far too late. Both Kaito and the truck driver had no time to even react, let alone try to evade each other. Kaito was hit by the oncoming truck and immediately blacked out.

Upon waking up, Kaito was in a mysterious space. It’s as if he were floating in the air, but he was still able to feel the ground beneath him.

“Quite the reckless one, aren’t you?” A voice proclaimed to the half-awake Kaito. A majestic-looking woman in a radiant white gown was sitting in front of him. Kaito, in a daze, responded, “What happened to me?”

The girl, looking very unimpressed, answered him, “You died.”

“D-died!? Then how am I still alive here and talking to you… Whoever you are.”

The woman sighed, “Right now, you’re in a realm between worlds and are set to be reincarnated. My name is Rach—“

“REINCARNATED!?” Kaito interrupted. “Finally, this is everything I have dreamed about! I’ve finally gotten rid of my boring old life, and get to be reincarnated into a fantasy world, just like one of those isekai stories!”

Kaito, running up to the woman, getting extremely close to her face, continues, “and you’re the person that is going to reincarnate me, right!?”

She responds, pushing Kaito’s face away to a much more comfortable distance, “Goddess, with all due respect. Goddess Rachael. And yes, I will be the one reincarnating you…”

“YES!” Kaito celebrates, running around in excitement.

Rachael, trying to get Kaito to calm down and think about the fact that he just got himself killed, mentions, “Do you think this is some game or something? You died. You should count yourself lucky enough to even be chosen for reincarnation.”

Kaito, not listening to anything Rachael just said, responds, “So do I get to pick an overpowered ability or something?”

At this moment, Rachael was having second thoughts about Kaito. She thinks to herself, “Maybe it was a mistake picking him. I thought he would be a good option because of how adamant he was about starting a new life, but…”

“Hello there? Earth to Rachael? When do I pick my special power?” Kaito annoyingly breaks Rachael out of her thoughts.

Rachael irritatedly responds, “You get no special power! Sheesh, how ungrateful can you get?”

“Wait, what!? No overpowered ability, then why am I even here?“ Kaito complains.

Rachael, done with Kaito’s behavior, retaliates, “Fine, since you’re so familiar with how things work, I’ll let you leave!”

Rachael then proceeded to use her powers to teleport Kaito to the new world, in which he started disappearing into a bright light.

“Finally, my new and improved life starts n—“ Kaito was cut off mid-sentence.

Rachael relaxes with a great sigh, but she shortly realizes. “Oops, I was supposed to tell him about the benefits he’ll get as a reincarnated.”

“Oh well, he’ll be sure to figure it out. After all, he knows how things work, right?”
