Chapter 2:
My Second Life Is OverPower [VOL 1]
A golden yellow light appeared from the sky in an instant.
"Cling," the sound of light emerging from the sky.
Syura slowly appeared from within the light, the golden glow gradually fading away.
As Syura opened his eyes, he saw a vast green plain, and in the distance, a city that wasn’t very large could be seen.
The sound of the wind was calm and peaceful.
"Wiuhhh," the cool breeze of the morning.
Syura, dressed in an all-black cloak like an assassin, had two daggers on his back.
"A world like an RPG game. A strange world. A new world for me."
"What should my first step be?" Syura murmured softly.
Since Syura was a gamer who loved playing RPGs, the first step he usually took was to check his status.
"I better check my status first."
Syura raised his index finger.
"STATUS," Syura said firmly.
A blue-colored hologram appeared in front of him.
Level: 1
Class: Assassin
Skill: Speed Burst
(Unknown: The Eater)
Job: Food Seller
"My status isn’t that great."
Suddenly, a notification popped up like an alert.
[First City: Anvil]
"So that not-so-big city over there is called Anvil," Syura muttered quietly.
Syura then walked along a dirt path. The scenery on both sides was still vast green plains, with a forest visible in the distance.
Suddenly, a slime appeared on the path Syura was walking on, and a hologram notification popped up in front of him.
[Monster: Slime]
[Level: 1]
[Threat: Very Low]
[HP: 50/50]
"So my first opponent is just a slime."
Syura took one of the daggers from his back, aimed at the slime, and began to focus his gaze on it.
As he focused on one point—the slime’s core—Syura felt something strange.
"Its core is deep red."
"The slimes I usually see in games have bright blue cores, just like their bodies," Syura said while keeping his focus on the core.
Without thinking twice, Syura aimed his attack directly at the slime’s core using the skill he had.
[Skill: Speed Burst – Activated]
With high speed, the dagger pierced the slime’s core, causing a small explosion.
"DUARRR," the sound of the explosion.
A hologram notification appeared in front of Syura.
[Monster Defeated]
[LEVEL UP]
[LEVEL UP]
[LEVEL UP]
[ERROR]
With a surprised and confused expression, Syura stared at the notification in front of his face.
"ERROR? What’s going on?"
"I only killed a slime."
"Maybe the system is just bugging out," Syura said casually.
Then Syura picked up the dagger he had thrown earlier and returned it to its place.
Before taking another step, a new hologram notification appeared.
[Activate Skill: The Eater]
Yes
No
"Why is this skill showing up?"
"Isn’t this the skill for eating delicious food?"
Syura tapped the screen with his index finger.
"Click."
Then he selected:
"YES."
[Power Successfully Absorbed]
"Power?"
"That weak slime had power?" Syura said innocently.
Syura then continued his journey toward Anvil.
After a 10-minute walk...
Syura stood before Anvil’s entrance. Two guards in metal armor, like royal guards, stood there.
The first guard was muscular and tall, wielding a large axe with a scar on his face as if clawed by a monster.
The second guard was a bit chubby, holding a long sword, his gaze as if he wanted to kill anyone he saw.
"Who are you? You look very unfamiliar," said the first guard.
"Foreigners without a clear purpose are not allowed into Anvil," said the second guard.
Syura responded with a flat yet polite tone.
"Hello, my name is Syura. I’m here to register with the adventurer guild and the merchant guild."
"You need to have an identification card to enter," said the second guard.
Since Syura didn’t have an ID, he claimed to be from a very remote and distant place.
"I don’t have one. I just left my hometown to become an adventurer."
"It’s very far from here and quite secluded," Syura said with a gaze full of conviction.
Then...
Coincidentally, the head of the adventurer guild was walking toward Anvil’s gate, just returning from completing a mission.
Five minutes later...
A tall, muscular man appeared, with huge biceps, a thin mustache, and a face full of scars. His aura was intense, and his gaze was intimidating.
"Who is he? Is he an adventurer?" said the guild master.
The guards quickly answered.
"He claims to want to enter the adventurer and merchant guilds," said the first guard.
"But he’s from a very remote village and has no identification card," said the second guard.
The guild master walked past both guards, carrying an enormous sword in his hand.
"Let the kid in. I’ll be waiting for him at my place," he said, glancing back slightly.
"Alright, Master Drake, if that’s what you want," said the second guard.
"Go ahead. Welcome to Anvil," said the first guard.
Then, as Syura stepped through the gate with a confident look on his face...
"Thank you. It’s a pleasure to meet you both."
