Chapter 726: Divide and Conquer Approach

Author's Comment: Chapter posting has been at a much slower pace lately and I apologize for that. This is due to me spending time novelizing the old chapters so they can all be in the same style. Basically, sometimes I will write a new chapter, and sometimes I will novelize an old one.

Chapter 726: Divide and Conquer Approach

Back with the heroes in the room holding a mutant Harmona corpse.

Zeth grits his teeth. “I hate seeing my mother’s body being desecrated like this. That alternate Sasha or whoever else did this will pay.”

They hear a male voice from behind. “Not so fast.”

They quickly turn around to see Rom, who stares with a serious expression, and Raylee, who stares with a taunting smirk.

Seeing them burns a fierce fire in Zeth’s eyes. “It’s you!” he shouts with a burst of anger.

“Yes, it is.” Rom replies calmly.

“You’re all doomed!” Raylee shouts while flying around Rom.

“She’s so small,” Sasha says in awe. “My first time ever seeing a fairy.”

“Not just any fairy!” Raylee snaps as she flies close to Sasha’s face. “The best damn fairy out there!” She flies back to Rom’s side, confidently smiling.

Sasha chuckles for a moment before her face twists into a sadistic smile. “Get that close to me again, and you may find your life… cut short.” She licks her lips as she finishes.

Raylee’s eyes open wide in fear before hiding behind Rom’s back, and slightly peeks out.

“Enough of this.” Rom states. “I have a little information I’d like to share with you all.”

“Yeah! So be thankful you’re even getting that!” Raylee shouts from behind Rom’s back.

Zeth cracks his knuckles, but he resists the urge to attack Rom immediately. “This information better be good.”

“It’s good,” Rom replies. “But it won’t help save yourselves.”

He smirks as he continues. “You see, I have the ability to branch into alternate universes. I can even pull people into them or take people out of them.”

The heroes stare in shock. “That’s actually possible?!” Pearl shouts.

“Indeed, it is,” Rom confirms. “And with this ability, I’m sending you all to your ends. I will not allow you to harm any more pyramids. The alternate universe you all find yourselves in currently is one where Zeth and Sasha are tyrannical rulers, killing anyone who would oppose them.”

“Me? A tyrannical ruler?” Zeth questions.

Rom nods. “You’ve already met the tyrannical version of Sasha so you shouldn’t find it hard to believe.” He extends his right arm forward, charging it with magic energy as he glares at Zeth and Sasha. “You two are the backbones of your entire operation, so if I split you up from the rest, you will all fall apart.”

Zeth grits his teeth in fury as he charges up his magic. “You will do no such thing!!”

A portal opens where Zeth and Sasha stand, sending them into it before it closes immediately after.

“Ha! All bark and no bite!” Raylee mocks.

Herbie grits his teeth. “You know, that fairy is really pissing me off.”

“I agree,” Joe replies as he also focuses his anger on Rom and Raylee.

Rom smirks again. “To the rest of you, good luck making it through this world alive without your leaders.”

The heroes all prepare to fight but light flashes around Rom and Raylee, blinding the heroes. Once the light fades, Rom and Raylee are no longer there.

Joe falls to his knees and pounds the floor with his fist. “I can’t believe this!! Screw those two!! He’s watching us like this is all a game!!”

“Calm down,” Kurt urges. “Think of it this way. If they’re actually as powerful as they seem, why don’t they just kill us right here? They’re treating as a game because they’re not confident they can take us on in a direct fight. We will make it through this alive. And one day, he won’t be able to retreat!”

“Well put,” Emily says with satisfaction.

“I’ve been thinking this for a few minutes now, but we should make sure that mutant Light Goddess thing isn’t actually still alive.” Lavana suggests.

“That’s a good idea,” Pearl responds. “As one who serves Lady Harmona, I will do it.”

She walks up to the mutant Harmona corpse chained to the wall and puts her ear up to Harmona’s chest. “There’s nothing. No beat at all.” A tear drops from her eye. “She really is dead.”

“Then there is nothing else we can do here,” Kurt says. “Let’s find an exit. That tyrannical Sasha must have left this place somehow.”

They turn around and walk away from mutant Harmona’s body. As they walk, Herbie says, “How creepy would it be if she was some kind of zombie?”

Dusk sighs. “You dumbass, a zombie wouldn’t have let Pearl get that close.”

“Hey!” Herbie snaps. “It was just a hypothetical!”

“You both are lucky that Lady Sasha isn’t here now,” Lavana says with annoyance.

Unbeknownst to them, as they continue walking away, one of mutant Harmona’s eyes open, a grotesque swampy green color.

The mutant awakens!
