Chapter 725:
Beyond The Stars
Chapter 727: Harmona, Zaydra, and Keith vs Mutant Hamura
Back in the city.
Harmona, Zaydra, and Keith gaze at the mutant zombie Hamura as it approaches, moaning and groaning. This grotesque creature is not Hamura anymore, but a monster using her body.
“They’d really turn Hamura into… that?” Zaydra asks, disgusted by the mutant zombie’s appearance.
“We can’t put anything past them,” Harmona replies with similar disgust.
Keith clenches his fists, grinning with excitement. “I don’t know about you two, but I’m looking forward to showing them that they can’t stop us! Let’s get it on!”
He charges forward, his magic energy charging up. “Let’s see what this zombified mutant Hamura is capable of!”
Harmona shouts in concern, “Wait, Keith! Don’t rush in! We need to know what the mutant is capable of before we get too close!”
Keith slams his fist straight into the mutant’s face, knocking her back into a building, and shattering a window.
He grins. “Doesn’t seem all that tough to me.”
Suddenly, multiple red energy scarves launch out from the building, wrapping around Keith, who opens his eyes wide. The scarves detonate, setting off a large explosion.
“Keith!!” Zaydra screams.
The mutant dashes out from the shattered window, slamming its own arm into the explosion’s smoke, knocking back a heavily injured Keith. His body drags against the road, carving it up.
The mutant moans as its body ignites into a large fireball.
“Even as a mutant zombie, it still has all of the attacks Hamura had while alive!” Harmona shouts.
“Wonderful…!” Zaydra remarks sarcastically.
The large fireball blazes forward, straight for Harmona and Zaydra.
“Dodge!!” Harmona commands just before they each dive out of the way in opposite directions. However, the fireball instantly changes direction and slams directly into Zaydra. She screams as the fireball burns her.
Harmona uses her left hand to magically form a meteor in front of herself.
“Begone!” Harmona shouts as she unleashes the meteor directly at the large fireball containing the mutant. The meteor’s fierce energy destroys the fireball and blasts the mutant away.
“Are you okay?” Harmona asks in concern.
Panting, Zaydra replies with determination, “I’m fine, but that mutant won’t be once I’m through with her!”
Her magic energy charges in her arms until both become like the surface of the sun, a constant churn of boiling orange plasma.
“Woah, very impressive,” Harmona says with a smile.
Zaydra faces in the direction of the mutant, her brows furrowed, and her teeth clenched together hard. “Your fireball burns, but my power of the sun… incinerates!!”
She dashes toward the mutant, who is getting back up from Harmona’s attack. She gets within point-blank range and slams her fist straight into the mutant’s face. The punch instantly burns through the mutant’s skin. She quickly uses her other fist to pound straight into the mutant’s torso, incinerating some of the mutant parts that make up that section of the body.
Zaydra grins with excitement and confidence. “Lucky you’re a zombie or this would leave you with excruciating pain!”
While the mutant is stunned, Zaydra holds back her fist, charging even more power into it. “Next, I will take off your head entirely!!”
Unknown to her, powerful magic energy has been building in the mutant’s body and it now unleashes the energy in the form of a massive explosion.
Harmona opens her eyes wide and screams, “Zaydra!!!”
Not far from there, Keith sits up and rubs his head among some street rubble. “Damn, I thought zombies were supposed to be mindless with no sense of strategy or skill…” He quickly notices the massive explosion. “Wait! What the hell?!”
The explosion starts to clear. A wide but not deep crater is left within the blast zone that is filled with street rubble.
Harmona runs toward the crater with worry. “Please be okay, Zaydra!”
Some of the rubble pushes to the side as Zaydra pushes her way out while taking a deep breath. Some blood drips down from her head but nothing significant. “That was close!”
“Close? You were right in front of the blast point.” Harmona says, wanting clarification.
Zaydra fully pulls herself out from the rubble, dusting herself off, before giving an answer. “I noticed there was going to be a blast in the last couple seconds so I used my charged fist and slammed it into the ground to dive beneath the road. I avoided the worst of the blast.”
Harmona closes her eyes for a moment, exhaling. “What a relief…”
Keith rejoins them. “So, I missed what just happened. Is mutant zombie Hamura dead… er… uh… deader?”
“It looked like it self-destructed to me,” Zaydra replies. “I think we’re done here.”
Suddenly, the rubble begins to shake, like it’s a small earthquake. A lot of the rubble blows away as the mutant Hamura launches out of the crater and onto an undamaged part of the street. It roars with anger. The destroyed parts of its body and face are replaced with fierce flames.
“Yeah…” Keith begins with unease. “I don’t think this is even close to self-destruction…”
Harmona glares at the mutant with a serious expression. “It’s a zombie and a mutant. But at its base is still a very powerful divine being. This was never going to be easy.”
More menacing than even before, mutant zombie Hamura emerges from the rubble of its own attack burning with rage!!
