Chapter 524:
En Passant Grandmaster
"We're back, and we're continuing with the interview," Kisha stated.
Correct. Today I'll be talking more about the characters and chapters. First off, I created way too many characters some of whom never even appeared officially in either the final story or the cut chapters.
"Cut chapters'?"
The infamous Pre-6B as I dubbed it. Originally, the stuff before 6B's start was WAY more padded. It was a direct effect of the bloated cast, as I wanted everyone to get their moment in, but also an effect of me struggling to write the needed games for the arc.
"You mentioned this in those "Author Commentaries"."
That's right. This was the peak of burnout for me. Though I managed to get everything done. However, I was unsatisfied. I didn't realize just how long Pre-6B really was, and that angered me. Thus, I dug deep and finished writing the whole season before going back and editing things to the point where I could accept them. It's also better for the readers as nobody likes 30 chapters of fluff.
"But what about Bermuda Party and rest day 1?"
Bermuda Party was longer than expected, but it had constant chess action. The same for rest day 1. Pre-6B didn't have that, which is why I was so upset with myself. The core of a chess series should be the chess itself.
"Deep."
Though I will confirm that some of the cut chapters will be coming back.
"Really? How?"
Side Story, which'll either start now or later depending on if I have the energy to do all my top 10 lists.
"No fair!"
And now we take a break.
