Chapter 3:
My New Maid Doll
Getting out of the house, the fresh morning air gently caressed their cheeks as the gentle glow of the sun warmed them up just a little bit.
"Mind telling me where we're going? You just barged out of the house." Hearing his question, Briar turned around and smiled at Klet.
"Oh don't worry. We're going at your local church." Giving him a little wink, she continued forward. Klet upped his pace and adjusted Briar's scarf.
"Careful now. You don't want anybody noticing." He mumbled quietly.
"My apologies master, I'll be more careful." With a simple nod, her gaze shifted to the old and wooden church, it's gothic design standing apart from the other simple houses around it.
"There we are!" Briar spoke with a satisfied tone as she crossed her arms and turned to Klet. "Now then Master, get inside and get some blessed water, salt and a crucifix, maybe even a rosary if you don't have one at home."
"Wait, aren't you going to with me?"
"Pardon me master, but somebody like me isn't welcomed inside. Just standing near it hurts." She gestured as her hand trembled the closer it got to the church. Klet just nodded and entered the church alone. The heavy door groaned as he pushed it open..
Entering inside, Klet was met by a massive cross with a wooden statue of Jesus on it which hung above the altar. Each window showed a mosaic picture of the events of Jesus's crucifixion.
"Hmm? Oh, it's you. Mr. Klet." A deep voice was heard as Father Mark approaching him, closing his office door behind him. "How may I help you?" His tone was filled with suspicion.
"P-Pardon me, Father..." Klet spoke nervously, unsure what to say. "I came looking for help... I need some holy water, salt... a crucifix and a rosary." Father Mark's eyebrow raised with curiosity.
"You never came to mass or even visited the church. A sudden change of heart? Did God finally speak to you?" Stepping forward, Mark observing Klet, trying to find a hint of deception.
"I guess you can say that. I need some help with demonic attacks... especially for my friend. So I need some holy objects to keep the demons away."
"And why don't you invite your friend for an exorcism? I can schedule a date for it. I've had my fair share of experiences with exorcisms." Klet started sweating, unsure how to respond.
"W-Well she's not possessed, she just needs protection to prevent them... Same goes for me." Nervously smiling at Father Mark, he continued. "I beg you Father... please help us." Falling onto his knees, he looked up at Mark with eyes filled with desperation. Sighing, Father Mark turned around and moved towards his office.
"Follow me."
Standing up, Klet entered Father Mark's office, it was cramped and covered with religious pictures. Opening one of the drawers, Mark pulled open a drawer. Inside lay a metal crucifix, a rosary still smelling faintly of roses, a vial of holy water, and a jar of blessed salt.
"Here, this is what you asked for." Mark sighed, sitting down onto his chair.
"You... have everything ready just like that?"
"I'm a priest, Klet. I keep these for everyday use and for those who need it. A mechanic needs to have his tools with him at work and so do I."
Nervously taking the items, he bowed his head.
"Thank you... Thank you so much!"
"Don't thank me, thank God for everything. And I expect you to come to mass at least during Sunday, the Lord's day." Mark's tone turned stoic.
"I-I promise..." Slowly exiting the office, Klet pushed the wooden door open and approached Briar.
"You made it! See, it wasn't so bad." She responded with a smile as she turned around and walked back home. While they walked back, Klet felt uneasy, like a piercing gaze fell upon him. Turning his head around, he saw a tall and bulky figure watching him between the houses. It quickly moved away from view.
"Hey, don't stare too much. All they can do now is observe you... Feeding off of your fear and paranoia." Briar spoke seriously as she grabbed Klet's hand and pulled him forward.
Arriving back home, Briar locked the door and lowered the blinds.
"There... that should help with the problem. Master, pour some salt in every room and sprinkle some water." She spoke in a serious tone. Klet nodded and quickly did as he was told. Pounding could be heard on the walls with each sprinkle of water that fell onto them. Hyperventilating, Klet continued to sprinkle despite his fear. The pounding followed him each each step, relentless and brutal pounding that shook the house, scratching could be heard beneath the floor, what ever it was, it desperately tried to claw it's way out.
"Master, don't fear them! You have the power in your hands to repel them!" Briar yelled out as she kept her distance from him. His breathing was shaky, but he shoved the cold and metal cross against the wall.
"In... In the name of Jesus..." Just hearing the name made the walls scream in pain. Briar held her head as she kneeled onto the ground. A nervous smile crept on her face.
"Keep going Master... Don't worry about me." She reassured as her breathing got heavy.
"In the name of Jesus Christ... I command you to get away from here!" Klet yelled as the walls screamed out in pain. Putting the rosary as well, he continued. "May His Mother banish you! Mother..." He couldn't remember her name.
"Mary..." Briar called out weakly.
"In the name of Mother Mary and her son Jesus Christ, I banish you!" The entire house shook for a second before it stopped. The air was fully clear now, it smelled like fresh roses, calming Klet instantly. Looking back at Briar, she was trying to stand up, rushing to help her, Klet safely placed her on the couch.
"You did it master... Now that they're gone... we should be safe here... safe to talk without being listened, at least by them."
"What do you mean? You're telling me something can still hear us?" Klet trembled as he spoke.
"Their king... Lucifer hears all on this world, but he's powerless compared to what we have. Don't worry." She tried to reassure him, extending her hand to him. Nervously extending his, their hands shook in a silent agreement. They would now be taking a step towards the horrors that has hell contains. There was no going back now and they knew it. Hell knew their names and waited for them.
