Chapter 18:
Rukito's Domination: My long awaited plan to reach the top in an Isekai world begins NOW!!!!
I'm sitting at my desk, waiting for class to start. There are girls surrounding me, asking for my name, where I'm from , and which noble family I'm from. Somehow, I became the center of attention. HOW DID THINGS TURN OUT LIKE THIS?!
Let's go back 20 minutes ago...
Haruki and Athena are walking through the front gate. With the high reputation of Arthur and him being the crown prince, everyone surrounds him to have a chat. Everyone is trying to be his friend ; girls are confessing their love. There is no way to pass. So, Haruki steps forward, grabs Athena, and teleports inside the school building, being the first to make it to class.
Everyone becomes curious about who the guy is that moved so fast and took the prince away in the blink of an eye. When they arrive shortly, the girls naturally show interest in him as he has light-colored hair and bluish-green eyes.
So much for keeping a low profile. Soon class started, and the first thing we did as first-years was take a walk to tour the school, showing us the classes we'll be attending as well as how extremely big the premises are . The teacher lastly led us to the results of our scores from the enrollment exam, printed on a big board. Naturally, I knew my score, but everyone was shocked to see the results. The name that was first and above my own was Arthur. I knew she studies hard, but I never expected her to get full marks.
At that moment, a student behind Haruki shouted, "Hey, Haruki!" while glancing around. Haruki inquired about his desires, to which he replied, "I might have placed 3rd, but the score gap is only 0.1." Take note, don't settle in too comfortably on that pedestal. "I won't be defeated by some unknown person who just showed up."
"Oh yes, you are correct; I did only get a 0.1 score higher , but to you, you should take it as a gap as big as the heavens to the Earth ."
The teacher quiets down the students as she doesn't want them to cause a commotion. She tells the two students to fight it out later when they have sparring matches at the end of the day where they test one's skills.
The day goes by normally. There were some interesting subjects as we learned military tactics and theoretical warfare alongside magic. We also learned the history of demonkind and how the first king himself was chosen by God to seal away demonkind 3,000 years ago and how this word was given only to the royals and nobility to rule.
From what I know , the human race did help; however, it was not one person but all of humanity, as well as the elves and Nekomimi, who helped as well. This land would be at peace if this country did not continuously start wars with other nations to expand its territory.
The day is filled with tasks and responsibilities, allowing for very little spare time. In addition to that, there are numerous locations that first-year students are not allowed to access. Challenges will prove to be more difficult than Rukito anticipated. It seems he must dedicate the entire three years as a student to achieve his goal for this mission.
After some time, Athena and I had our lunch break. I completely forgot about packing lunch, but thankfully Athena made it first thing in the morning, which surprised me as I didn't even think a girl like her would know how to cook. I took a bit of the food she had prepared after we found a place to eat. I'd give it a passing mark. It's not as good as Tama's, but definitely better than anything Elia has made. So in terms of taste, I'll give it a 6.5/10. She wasn't too happy with the mark I gave and said I should just wait.
Going back to class, the teacher explained the basics of logistics. We were given some notes to take down; other than that , we did study a lot of magic in middle school , but here they teach us millinery-type magic. It's a type developed to help in war. By integrating magical tools such as artifacts, we are able to communicate by imbuing them with mana. There are also other types of tools used for defense and offense, like the Elemental Reaction Cannon bomb, or ERC bomb for short, which is said to wipe out an entire country at full power. However, this type of magic requires 10 people who are masters of different elements. As for defensive types, they are mostly barriers powered by magic stones.
Magic stones take hundreds of years to form naturally. They form over time in places rich in mana. Over the years , it has been harder to find them, so they are made artificially through magical technology. By creating an artifact that can contain and condense mana faster, one only needs a beast core from mana beasts such as monsters. Their cores serve as a foundation to produce magic stones.
Although those made naturally are of the highest quality, using beast cores to mass-produce magic stones is easier. I wonder if Aether crystals can be used in this way? I'll ask Kuragari when I get back to Umreal Kingdom.
Given things like this, it's not surprising they’re effortlessly colonizing other nations. I was aware that arriving here would provide valuable information about my adversary prior to war, but I never anticipated their methods or the armaments they possess. Especially on the very first day of school.
Now it's time for the sparring matches before the end of the school day, and Haruki wonders how he should deal with his opponent. Ultimately, he settles on starting off with 10% of his power. Athena and Haruki arrive at the arena as they hear a familiar voice screaming from behind. It's the fool who challenged Haruki ; he tells Haruki he's ready to fight, to which Haruki accepts but asks him his name, as he forgot.
"You! ... I didn't think I needed to say my name as it was on the board, but fine. My name is Hugo, and I'm the guy that's going to beat that smile off your face."
He unsheathes his sword and rushes toward Haruki at maximum speed to strike. Nonchalantly observing, he deflects the sword with the back of his hand, inadvertently shattering it, rendering Hugo and the whole class speechless.
