DAYMARE 9: Haunted Happenings

After the long drive, we’re finally here. I thought it would take us a whole day to travel, but my father's province is close to Metro City, about a five-hour drive.

We all got out of the car.

It’s impressive how clean, quiet, and simple this place was. Lots of trees, plants, rocks, and soil. Fresh air, very few people, and no pollution. opposite of what is commonly experienced in Metro City.

I stretched my arms and legs and took a deep breath. How refreshing this view is!

"Lewin, help me here," Mama’s orders.

"Aye! Aye!"

I ran closer to the truck and started to lift some boxes.

"Oops," My mother stopped the three of us when we were about to step into the new house.

So, this will be our new home. It’s a good one. To be honest, I think this is better than our previous home. Bigger, cozier, and serene.

"Why, Ma?" I asked because I am carrying heavy boxes.

“We will enter our new home at the same time. When I count to three, let's go altogether, okay?”

"What for?" Vea asked, carrying some plastic bags full of food.

"There’s a saying here that when you just move to this place, before entering your new house, all family members must enter at the same time for the first time."

I wondered about that. "Eh, what if we didn’t follow that?"

Mom approached us. "They say… something bad will happen to the family if they disregard such practice," she whispered to us.

I laughed at the thought of it. Sounds absurd, but that will make Mama happy.

“1, 2, 3!”

And we went inside all at once.

When I entered our new home, it was good to see its interiors.

I first laid the cardboard boxes I was carrying on the floor and paid more attention to this house.

I went up to the second floor. There are three large bedrooms! Yeah, I still have my room. I thought the rooms would be smaller compared to our previous house, but this is quite a bit bigger.

After a short time of arranging our appliances and furniture, it was already late at night. Unpacking stuff can be this tiring.

I’m starving. We ate food my sister bought from an eatery, a kilometer away from home.

“Lewin, I have enrolled you in your new school and so has Janey. You will go to different schools. The elementary school that Janey will attend is closer here. Yours, Lewin, is a bit far, but good thing we still have our car,” Mama announced.

I just nodded. It's exhausting to organize things that much.

Our equipment is still in disarray, so maybe it will be a few more days before we can fix everything.

“By the way, Ma,” I said. "Whose house is this?"

We are just renting this one like we did with our house in Metro City.

“Ah, it’s a relief we can rent this place for cheap, especially since the house itself is worth way more. If I’m not mistaken, the Gern family owns this. They moved here about a year ago, but they've gone back to Metro City.”

Gern?

What a funny and uncommon last name. It's like I heard that surname before. Where and when did I hear that? It must be somewhere familiar....

"Lewin, do you still remember your childhood friends here when you were 4?" Mama asked me.

“Not at all,” I answered.

I don’t remember any childhood friends of mine when I was 4 years old.

“Well, it's been a long time. You're only about 4. I think you’ll meet them when you go to your school. My news is, you will attend the same school as them.”

We lived in this province for four years, and we moved to Metro City when I was five years old, so I don't remember much about this place. I hope I can recall some of my memories growing up here.

A few minutes later, I realized that I had finished eating. I went upstairs and cleaned my room for a bit before sleeping. After taking a half bath to dust the dirt off myself after a tiring day, I went to bed.

I checked out my new room, and it was big, but I could still make a mess in it.

I opened my phone and saw that Rico had texted me.

Enrico: Wassup? Your mom said you arrived there. How’s it like?

For Pete’s sake, Rico! Stop being a spy for my mom.

That’s just my mother being nosy. She checks in with Rico whenever I’m off on some adventure, so she doesn’t freak out since I’m super stubborn. Basically, she uses Rico as her spy to always know where I am.

Me: Great, just great. Quit communicating with Mama so she won’t know my tactics

Enrico: Lmao! Your mom’s too scary to defy her

Me: Stop it or I’ll kick you real soon when I get back there

Enrico: What about the beauties there? Do you have one you like so far?

This playboy who has nothing else better to do but be a Casanova, tss.

Me: Nothing too special. People here are simple. The place is secluded but quiet, perfect for nature lovers. Bad news for you, no beauties in sight. We don't even have a neighbor who lives nearby.

Enrico: That sucks. Sucks to be you, HAHAHA!

Me: Shut up

Enrico: I made my first move to Shane yesterday! Yahoo! I think she likes me too

Me: Shane? That popular girl from the elite section? Pfft! You won’t stand a chance with a princess, you frog

Enrico: How could you! I might be a frog, but at least not a bot frag unlike you

Me: I might have a greater chance to woo her than you, no cap. Better to be a loser in a game than be a loser who can’t win a girl’s heart.

So, this is me teasing Rico as if I got a girl. Games>Girls because girls are more complicated than games. But hey, I wouldn’t refuse if get a chance to have both, hihi.
