Chapter 2:

The day I learn about this world

Powerless soul reincarnated to a unblessed body

So begin with this world. It seems that this world only have one continent and one ocean, like the earth in Permian Period. And turn out, this world really has magic.

Well, in this world, magic is called "blessings", like in the story this girl's Mom told last night. Everythings and creatures in this world is blessed by the so called "Goddess". There are some theories about the root of this "Goddess", like "Goddess" is the first person in the world who achieved "blessing" through some almighty being, and she didn't want to keep it all to herself, so she decided to share it to everyone, and there is a theory that she is the same species with the "Binge", but this theory has been widely dismissed and condemned.

It seems that this world haves religions, the "Goddess" worship religion is the biggest religion, the other religions mostly worship some "minor gods" in their region. Maybe because the "Goddess" religion is the biggest religion, so the theory that she was the same species with the Binge is immediately rejected? I wonder if the scholar who published this theory can be executed?

There is a book named "The Goddess' Doctrine". It seems that this religion taught people to live lovingly, be tolerant, don't discriminate, be faithful, bla bla bla. Well, I don't know if this Goddess is a real thing or just a religious images are built up to serve political purposes or something , but this world really have "magic" right? So she can be real.

About the "magic" in this world, or we can call "blessings". To put it simple, because "Goddess" has blessed creatures in this world, so from the inside to the outside, we have mana. Mana in the air, in the water, in the soil,... it's in the environment and creatures' body, and because of all things in this world have mana inside it and mana is in the air too, so we linked with the environment very well. Using that, mana help people link to the environment, people can control water, control air or soil. It sounds dangerous, I always think with so much power like that, how can people not do harm to each other? Are rules and laws in this world strict? Or because of the Doctrines of their religion so they believe that we should do no harm to each other? I really doubt that.

What do authorities do to control people have superpower? Well, I'm not a politician so I don't really know. But if I'm a politician who rules the world with all the people have superpower, I will put a chip in their head, and when they do something illegal, I will blow up that chip and their head will be the mess, it seems immoral but that is all I can think.

Because people have mana flow in their body, so it's easy for them to heal a wound. But in condition, they have to imagine how the wound heal, so they have to go to med school, learn about people's body like anatomy, physiologic, biochemistry in people's body, pathophysiology,... Wow, become the healer in this world is tough.

It means if you want to control air, water, soil or anything in the environment, you will have to learn much about that. This explain why people is the only specie that can control magic very well, because they have an ability to learn about the mechanism of this world.

Each person also has a different amount of mana and a different level of mana expression. There are some people who use mana to strengthen their bodies instead of controlling things in environment, however, strengthening their body is sometimes more difficult than controlling things. To truly strengthen their bodies, they probably have to learn a lot, like a healer.

One thing is weird about this world, that is history book didn't mention about wars and conflicts or something like that. It sounds unrealistic. The history book is all about theory of Goddess, some mythical story about their "Minor Gods" in some region, some breakthrough research milestone in magical applications. The ruling system and the political system in this country are also mentioned, but what to say? Overall, I don't understand much when reading it. All I know is this girl's country have an absolute monarchy.

In this libary, their aren't any book about rules and laws in this country, so I will give it a pass. Next thing to say is the creature called "Binge".

When I heard a story last night, I thought the Binge is a fictional creature to scare the kids, turn out, they really are real. Like in her Mother's story, these are greedy creatures, lacking in intelligence, they only know how to rob and pillage humans and other creatures. It is said that they carry a curse that makes them never feel full no matter how much they eat, and never feel warm no matter how close they are to the fire, so they are constantly craving and trying to take everything, they rotten themselves in that bottomless greed.

Book didn't mention about their origin, not even a theory about them. We just know that they always been here for the long time and make people suffer.

In the past, they constanly attack people, but when people have magic, They formed an army called the "Caballarius" (spell like that in our language), they use their power to fight with the Binge. The Binge fear the power of the Caballarius, they decided to hide in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity to revenge. But that would never happen, because the Caballarius army had always been trained and maintained through each generation to protect humanity from those monsters.

The Caballarius is kind of cool right? And they are real too, I wonder why her Mother didn't mention them in the story. Oh, is her mother a follower of the Goddess religion? That explain why she emphasized the Goddess's merits rather than mentioning the Caballarius.
