Chapter 29:
STAR AWESOME
Nami stood behind him; she smiled, reaching out to Ren, but her hand went past him. "Huh, Spirit?"
Her smile became bizarre, with her teeth visible. Her eyes became uncanny as she stared at him. "Don't you know, demons eat souls?"
Ren took a few steps back; he already regretted his powers, his existence and mainly his luck.
Why can't I be stronger
Why can't I be the predator?
why am i the only unlucky one
A tremor went past his body. His body warmed as a strong wave of pain radiated from his heart.
"Huh, huh, my hands..."
His hands became furry but still translucent. Something popped out from his back; he peeked back. It was a tail wagging around.
Nami stared with a disgusted look. "A werewolf spirit?"
Ren rubbed his head; he looked at Nami. Despite the dark, her face felt more visible than before. She stepped back; Ren's ear straightened as soon as he heard the whooshing of sand under her feet.
He grabbed his long furry ear. "This feels good."
"Want me to scratch your ears?" Nami walked closer; she raised her hand.
He felt a sense of danger well up in him.
He instinctively dodged back whilst a creature similar to the one fighting Sen sprinted out of the sand directly below where Ren stood.
Ren glanced at Nami, who sighed, glaring at Ren.
The demonic beast leaped onto Ren, which he was swiftly able to dodge. "Is it me, or is this thing too slow..."
The demon bulged out its claws, attacking Ren, who jumped into the air and accidentally landed too far. He looked at Nami and sprang towards her.
Please let me take over.
Let me take over.
Please
Nami moved back, and the demon came before her. Ren thumped onto the demon's head, skipping behind Nami. Ren dashed towards Nami, hoping to take over her.
Nami screamed the moment Ren and she came in contact.
.
.
.
Ren felt numb; he couldn't feel a single thing, as if floating in complete nothingness.
He could hear faint sounds from Nami.
No one wants to talk with me because I am Sen's girlfriend.
It's boring and lonely.
I wish I could have more friends...
Thought its always fun to see what Sen can do
He is crazy...hehe.
Hey, Ren, you can hear me, right...?
Please dont listen to my personal thoughts
I am a girl...so it's embarrassing.
Ren fell down; he could feel his body once more.
He saw Nami standing next to him, rubbing her head
The demon leaned over Ren but stopped.
Its eyes lost their glow and darted away.
Attacking the demon Sen was fighting.
Ren looked at Nami; her hair was gelatine.
She took a deep breath and shouted, "SEN, I AM BACK. GO AS CRAZY AS YOU WANT!"
Sen looked at her; she gave him a thumbs up. A warm smile spread over his face; he took a sigh of relief. He turned to the monster.
He tossed away his scythe. "Jacksaw, make me a new weapon."
Jacksaw stood behind Sen; he was too injured to fight. "Yeah, sure."
He raised his left hand; a sigil formed in front of it, which increased in size. He pulled out a glaive, but he noticed someone sprinting onto the demon, and the silhouette was too familiar.
"HOW DARE YOU ATTACK THEM, YOU STUPID PIECE OF TRASH!!!!!!!!"
Amanda landed on the demon's head.
Sen looked at her and sighed, "You took your sweet time."
Jacksaw yelled, "Yeah, look at me!"
Similar complaints echoed from all around.
Amanda sighed and pulled out her sword.
The demon crackled.
WHo are you LITTLE MIS~
"Shut up." She leaped off the demon as soon as she reached its eye level. Her eyes became red; the demon froze in its place.
She shoved her sword in the pentagon sigil on its chest; the demon screeched but couldn't move an inch.
The demon shrivelled into a human-like form. His face abruptly turned into Nandrus'
"I—I am an Star Awesome member, please—"
She struck him. "Demon, I am Princess Amanda."
The demon screeched and disappeared.
"Hey, can you take care of everything else too?" Kaya pointed at the centipede monsters.
"You guys, for god's sake!" She shouted, springing onto the centipedes.
With a split blow she cut the centipede in half; a green fluid gushed out of it.
"Princess, don't ruin your clothes."
From the bottom of their bodies a glow rose, moving up while turning them into a bluish mirror.
Carlos patted her shoulder.
"I WAS KILLING THOSE. I AM MAD. LEMME TAKE OUT MY ANGER!!!!"
She yelled as she swung her sword in front of his face.
Carlos sighed, and with a snap the centipede became normal again.
"Go on, Amanda." He spoke and walked away while she dashed towards the centipedes.
.
.
.
After the whole incident, they were taken to a nearby tribe.
The tribe was surrounded by massive walls.
For a while they stayed at the entrance while Amanda prepared a place for their stay.
"We will be staying at the Najd tributary. While you guys are at it, please change into their local attire."
Amanda escorted them as they passed the street with mud huts on either side. There wasn't a local in sight.
She kept allotting them huts.
"Ren, you take that one." She said, pointing at some of the huts.
She is attacking normally again.
For a second there I thought she was as psychopathic as Sen, but it turned out she was only mad.
Ren sighed, lifting the entrance cloth; he walked in whilst looking around the hut. He left his shoes outside because the floor was covered with embroidered rugs. Sunlight fell on the centipede skin hung at the wall; he looked up. The roof was made of gigantic leaves.
The cloth on the entrance ruffled, and Nive walked in carrying some white and black robes. "Hey, take this..."
He handed Ren the clothes while keeping some for himself. "Amanda was done allotting huts; change into these and come out for lunch."
Ren scanned the clothes. "U-um, Nive, I don't know how to wear these..."
Nive chuckled, "I'll help."
.
.
Ren adjusted the white sleeveless shirt; over it Nive placed a white robe.
"This won't come undone, right?" Ren patted on the cloth wrapped around his waist as a support to his baggy trousers.
"I tightened it enough; other than that, it depends on your luck." Nive spoke while draping a keffiyeh around his head and neck. "You can cover your face with it too..." He lifted it from the front, covering Ren's face.
"How come you know the way to dress up in these..." Ren uncovered his face.
"Oh, in my previous world I had to wear these clothes often when I was on missions..." Nive collected his own clothes, ready to leave.
"Missions sound cool, like in movies." Ren gleamed, flipping his robe up and down.
"I saw movies in this world but not my own; we didn't have those." Nive glanced up at the leafy roof and back at Ren.
"Really?" Ren almost shouted.
"Maybe your world was as advanced as this one..." Nive shrugged.
"I am not sure; we were advanced, but we didn't have any magic or powers." Ren walked over to Nive.
"Hmmm, they do say the fantasy realm brings advancement to other worlds." Nive raised the entrance cloth letting the sunlight in.
"I never heard such a saying...." Ren followed Nive out of the hut.
"It's just a saying of this world; let's go." Nive and Ren went down the sandy street.
