Chapter 4:

People talk to Yuri

Former Magical Girls and their Daily Lives

Yuri wandered around in the hallways of the school, looking for the cafeteria. She did get her curry rice from there, but she already forgot which part of the building it was. In her quest of becoming unfindable by others, she got herself lost.

Her phone beeped. Kasumi had texted her, "Where are you????"

"Don't know." She replied.

"Did you fall into the demon dimension somehow? That should be impossible now, but I don't know what logic this world follows. What do you see from where you are?"

She looked at her surroundings, gently turning her head to her surroundings. Once her gaze floated about for a while, she got an answer.

"Hallway." She texted.

"So, you are either in the school or in the backrooms. Where are you?"

"School."

"Good. If you were in the backrooms, I worry that we wouldn't be able to get you back alive. I never heard of a magical girl coming back from there, much less a normal girl like you."

"Hey, Yuri's no normal girl :-)" A third person responded.

"Looks like you found your phone from the dumpster, Risa."

"I sure did lol"

"Anyway, where should we meet? I think the cafeteria works."

"That sounds good. I'll see yah!"

"K." Yuri responded.

However, it wasn't all K with Yuri. While she knew she was definitely in the real world rather than the demon one, she didn't know which part of the school she was in.

She walked to the closest person she could find. He was a tall person, and he was talking to his friend. She didn't know how old he was, but he looked like a senior.

"Cafeteria?" she said in his general direction.

The giraffe didn't seem to notice her. It was infuriating as she already had used one word. She swallowed her pride and tugged his school jacket.

He finally noticed and looked down at her. She didn't say anything immediately and maintained eye contact with the giant.

"What do you want?"

She delayed further as a response before slowly opening her mouth to speak.

"Oh," the towering boy interrupted, "I see what's going on. I'm sorry. I can't be your boyfriend. I simply don't think that you are, you know, my type. But I'll admit that you are a cute little thing. Maybe you have a little more growing to do. Maybe a little more height or something can fix you up." He placed his hand on her head, messing up her hair. "Come back when that happens. I'll see if you're acceptable for m-"

Yuri grabbed his arm and chomped down on his forearm. While he was on the floor in pain, she stomped to the guy the orc was talking to.

"Where's the cafeteria?"

"Um... It's down those stairs and then you go to the left. You can't miss it."

She looked at the fallen tower, kicked him in the shins, and stomped away.

"Dude," the guy who gave the directions said, "That girl was crazy."

"Damn midgets." the giant replied.

Everyone else got to the cafeteria before Yuri.

"What got you so worked up?" said Kasumi.

"I got lost."

"Three words. Wow," she was taken aback. "Anyway, I noticed that you have an empty bowl. So, I don't imagine that you are still hungry."

Yuri shook her head.

"Okay, we are just going to get something to eat. I doubt that there's anything good left, but I haven't eaten yet. Can you sit over there?" She pointed at an empty table.

"Okay."

Yuri sat at the empty table. She calmed down, and her expression went back to normal, which isn't that different from her angry expression. Either way, it wasn't the end of her problems.

Glasses girl was here. Or should we call her Izumi? That would be weird since we already call everyone in this story so far by their first name. It would be weird to call a named character by their last name.

Either way, glasses girl approached Yuri with a fat smile on her face.

"Hey, Yuri! I just wanted to say that I was very impressed with your introduction today. It really summed up your character and your life story so perfectly. I feel like I knew you all of my life. But I know that we really didn't know each other, but we should get to know each other, right? You do know who I am, right, Yuri?"

"Megumi."

"Oh, there it is! You did it again! I love you, Yuri!" Megumi hugged Yuri. "Anyway, I should tell you more about myself. As I said, I play Demon Killers III. It's my favorite game. Do you know much about it? I know that Risa and Kasumi play it too, but I don't know about you."

"No."

"Okay. I guess it's time for me to info dump the whole story. It's a really interesting story. You see, while it is called Demon Killer III, you don't have to know about the other 2 games to play it. Demon Killer Classic and Demon Killers 2 were mods of this popular game Wuake, but they decided to make the newest game a standalone title. There isn't a Demon Killers IV in the works because Demon Killers III is the only title that really matters anymore. The number of updates and events that happen in the game is enough to keep anyone entertained, to be honest. And it's free to play. So that's cool. You could pay more for some cool character skins, but you don't need them. Trust me. But they do look cool, however, and the rarest ones can sell for millions of yen. It's impressive. Anyway, the game's an FPS where everyone shoots and beats up demons as the name implies. But we don't fight against each other, but rather against demons that are controlled by computers. There's a lot of demons. There's the dark demons, the jumpy demons, the running demons, the lemon demons, the peach demons, and the working demon. Lots of demons. But they all want to kill you and the rest of your team. So, everyone is trying to kill the demons. There's a lot of characters to choose from. Like Winston Whurchill, and Whomas Edison. Those guys aren't copyrighted or anything, right? I really hope that my favorite game isn't breaking any laws here. But since it's still kicking after such a long time, I imagine it has no issues. Anyway, the historical figures are teleported from their own times to the game's world to kill the demons before they kill all of humanity. (I mean that the demons will kill all of humanity, not the historical figures.) It sounds intense, but a lot of people don't take the game that seriously. It's all fun and games. But if you go into competitive modes, that's where people start to get really serious. It's like an infinite ladder of harder and harder levels. They are nearly impossible and really frustrating, but when the top levels are defeated for the first time, the whole player base gets a notification that someone beat a level. This happens about once a week. It shows the player's name and everything. You get a lot of dopamine from doing that. I haven't done that though. I'm not that good."

Yuri waited for 10 seconds to see if she was done.

"So, what do you think, Yuri?"

She wasn't done.

"Interesting."

"Yeah, you should try playing it sometimes."

"Who has been dumping exposition when I was gone?" Kasumi asked, arriving with her food and Risa.

"I was just talking about Demon Killers III with Yuri. Who's your main? I really want to play with you."

"Uh-"
