Chapter 1:
Memories from Spark
— Hello? Are you alright? —Then a bright and easy going voice. Immediately I got back on my feet as soon as I could.
— Where am I?, Who are you? —I felt a bit dizzy there. Is something weird in the air?
— Wow, you, you are alive! You weren't breathing at all.
— I'm the 11th —It was a girl. Her curious eyes and carefree blond and long hairs were the first thing I saw.
— You are what? —Oh, I see, it's not convenient using my version number. Maybe I'll have to rename myself.
— Then... —How can I come up with a name? Eleven, eleven with one more number one I could be 111 which is seven on binary. Speaking of it, eleven is three on binary. English doesn't serve me to look for names. So maybe Japanese? Three its 'san', so San- no. That's a character's name from that series. So maybe with 'mi', Mi, Mika?
— I'm, I'm Neroli —She said offering her hand.
— Then, you can call me Mika. Were are we? There are lots of trees and grass. I've never looked to that much grass.
— You... Its obviously the forest, dum.
Did Kosoi threw me away in a forest? Shouldn't she destroy me just in case? Everything around is trees, leaves on the cold wet dirt and some rocks. There is no way I could know where am I.— It's my first time in a forest. —Every bird chirp, each fallen leave is new to me.
— You have never come to the forest? I was around and just found a random passed out in the middle of the forest. That's not something you see every day —She said jiggling.— You ok, big boy? How you ended here?
— Well I was on Kosoi's room.
— What is a cosoi?
— She is... don't mind it. —She took a step closer.
— Anyway, shut up and come with me. Fast!
— Eh? — She grabbed me from the wrist and dashed through the woods. Just now I payed more attention to her. What directly attracted my view were her long and lean legs. It was natural since I got to see them from behind, and since her black shorts leaved almost nothing to the imagination. Her upper body was covered by a gray hoodie, but from the movement I estimated she was blessed by nature.
Soon I felt a heavy noise around where we stood a while ago, and what could be interpreted as a bark. It resonated among the woods and was so loud it scared away the birds.
— What is —She covered my mouth. Then shushed my lips with her finger.
— Shh... —Neroli pointed up to a near tree and started climbing.
Somehow I managed to climb following the foothold points and grip spots she used. Perhaps I was motivated by the view up me. It was so mesmerizing I got distracted and almost fell down after she reached the top and sat down on a branch. Fortunately she helped me.
— That's a glaring bear. You see that around its eyes? —Even after running and climbing she was totally fine. Is she an sport's person? I'm sweating lots already.
— Yeah, somehow its like silver —I managed to say. The beast was really big. When it's on all fours, it's perhaps four or five times as tall as an standing person. Wait, bears are that tall?
— Right. If ever don't manage to get away from it, remember to not look at its eyes. If they glare it's over.
— Okey...— Moreover, you see those bastards back there? They are the ones controlling the bear, and the ones I owe money to. If they ask about me don't tell them you know me. Hehe —Now she sounds troublesome.
— I can keep the secret and help if you tell me where are we.— Come on kid. Here, the forest, where law is fiction. That mountain over there has civilization and booze. Over the mountains the desert with rich weirdos, and beyond there is another desert but pink and full of weirdos who like to fight. Finally back there The Matriarch Tree, mother of all life in Spark. —She pointed here and there like it was obvious. But those weird and tall skyscrapers on the 'rich weirdos desert', and the ridiculously taller tree made it obvious. — Ah, and to the other side, there isn't much to see on the plains, I haven't gone there nor my friends has. But they say there is good food.
— I, I have no idea where am I. Moreover, don't treat me like a kid —To be honest, my body is based on an adult's one, but I've been booted 58 hours, 42 minutes ago, but that would be confusing for her if I say so.
— I'm just toying with you. Take a drink and refresh your memory. —She grabbed something from her hoodie pocket and an small thermos appeared. — That's from the good one.
I took a sip and it was strong as hell.
— You know, Neroli, I may be from another world.
