Chapter 4:

Meet Sinaya

ALAMAT — Meet the Gods

You woke up falling deeper into the ocean and heard a distant roar. You lost your breath. But the thought of something coming, something big and dangerous beyond the darkness of your tired eyes coiled around your neck.

The darkness embraced you.

It growled, slowly baring its gigantic fangs that glimmered and shone its silver luster as though it was one step away from biting into and through the moon. It was a sea dragon; the Bakunawa. Just like the legends, it gazed into your insignificant body with its glaring yellowish eyes. It was silent, murmuring with its low growls that reverberated through all that water boiling at its mouth. It narrowed its eyes, its attention slowly sinking into your skin.

“Good…”

The Bakunawa formed a smile.

“You have recognized your place. You may now breathe.”

You blacked out. You woke up gasping for air, kneeling in front of a deep-blue throne. You faced forward. The huge woman in front of you with long black hair clapped slowly. She wore her scales instead of an elegant dress. It traced her board shoulders, big breasts, curved waist, wide hips, and long legs that glimmered like the surface of the oceans at sundown. You were forced to look and to settle your attention to her golden domineering eyes. She wore no crown. But it felt like you’re not allowed to even chatter your teeth unless she willed it.

She licked her lips and leaned onto one side, stretching her fingers and propping her chin at the back of her palm.

“I’m very very very very particular,” she declared, with her voice becoming more playful and deep per iteration. “I know what I want, probably an idea of what you want too, but I’d like to make it a point. You worship me. It’s not a request. I want you to worship me—give me your life, sacrifice everything to spread my name.”

She leaned back and crossed her legs.

“You mortals tend to think that as long as I’m far, then nothing bad would happen. I will let you change their mind for me. You’re a bug, but you can entertain me. You’re free to use my authority as you please, but remember that everything you do now depends on my will alone… but that’s not a problem. I know.” She grinned. “All it takes is for me to deny one of a single breath to know that they will worship me.”
