Chapter 2:

Chapter 1.5: The Lay of the Land

How To Be A Thief: A Vagrant's Tale!

Alright let’s take a step back real quick, you’re probably wondering, “Hey Thief, where are you anyway!”. Well I’m glad you asked my dear partner in crime, let me give you the general rundown on where I’m at currently.

This rundown place I’m in is an abandoned military fort, Fort Lenora! Funny how a symbol of public safety is now a shack for a pack of crooks. The fort itself has excellent cover due to all the trees surrounding the Lenore forest. If you were to leave the fort and walk straight for about an hour, you’d be able to enter the Lenore plains. As the name implies, the Lenore plains is a nice plains area. The terrain is relatively flat and lush with plant life, making it the perfect highway for commerce. Merchants, caravans, and even nobles traveling for their tea parties are just a few of the tourists that come passing through. Which works well for us, since more “Tourists” mean more “Tourists Fees!”. See you get my joke there! Because we jump them and steal their S***!

Oh man, the boss really knew his stuff when he chose this location. More about him later, let’s finish covering the general area. A little further past the plains lies the town of Lenore Hills. We opt to stay away from the town, the less the locals know about us the better. The last thing we want is to deal with some pissed off knights. Lenore Hills is known for its farmland, they have some of THE BEST APPLE! Especially the green ones, they have such great tartness and sourness! That said, their apples are one of their best commodities and during the harvest festivals the people even make baked goods with them. Due to this, Lenore Hills is a commercial town and more money coming in for them equals more loose change for us.

However, as mentioned previously, we gotta be careful. Close to Lenore Hills is a base for a knight regiment, it’s a two day trip by foot but with horses it’s a few hours. In other words we’re running our business on a tightrope, our base is two hours away from Lenore Hills and the Knights are stationed two or so hours away. Now you know why we choose to stay away, imagine if we tried to rob the town and the knights just so happened to come by for the annual wellness check. We’d be knee deep in crap wouldn’t we.

Finally let’s go over the kingdom jurisdiction for Lenore Hills, it’s within the territory of Soleil. Soleil is known as the Kingdom of The Sun, it’s well known for its cool breeze and spring-like weather all year round. Well, except for the winter season that is. The Kingdom of Soleil is ruled by King Isaac Lucius Soleil, the common folk have taken to calling him the wise king. Apparently he has three sons and two daughters, quite the achievement for a man in his late 50s.

That said this just about brings our short discussion to an end, as Joffry mentioned I’ve left with a task. So now, like a soldier, I must fulfill my duty!
