Chapter 4:

A Hidden Power

Revenge in another world

I woke up early, the sun was still rising on the horizon, I prepared to accompany Aria on a tour of the city. Although I had trained within the guild, now I would face a real world, with its streets, inhabitants, and dangers that couldn't be simulated.
"Today I'll teach you how to move around the village without problems... and how to recognize threats before they reach you," Aria said, walking with confidence between the stone and wood buildings. I followed her, with my eyes attentive to every detail: every shadow, every strange movement, every sound out of place.
Everything seemed calm... until a heart-wrenching scream broke the air. From one of the side streets, a group of strange and enormous creatures emerged out of nowhere: monsters with sharp claws, spiky tails, and red eyes that shone with malice. The village was in chaos; the merchants ran, the villagers screamed, and some adventurers tried to contain the monsters, but they were clearly outnumbered and outmatched.
"Kaoru, stay back!" Aria shouted, taking position in front of me. But I didn't retreat. My heart still burned with the contained anger of my past life, the pain of losing the girl I loved, and the determination not to be powerless again.
A cold calm enveloped me as I analyzed the situation: every movement of the monsters, every weak point, every attack pattern. In an instant, I launched into combat. Fluid movements, precision, combination of strength, speed, and magic in a style almost impossible to follow. Every monster that attacked fell without difficulty, and suddenly, the chaos began to transform into silence.
The inhabitants and adventurers watched with amazement and fear. No one had seen anything like this: a young unknown defeating a group of giant monsters as if they were simple obstacles.
Aria ran towards me, worried but admiring. "Kaoru! Wait a moment, more might come out!"
I breathed calmly, but my gaze was fixed on the horizon, where more threats might still appear. "I can't stop... not yet," I murmured, with a cold and determined voice.
When the last creature fell, an absolute silence invaded the village. Some inhabitants approached slowly, impressed and fearful. I approached them, with an imposing presence, making it clear that I was not someone they wanted to cross in a hostile way.
Aria sighed, placing herself beside me. "You always... always surprise yourself, don't you?"
I lowered my gaze, remembering the pain that had brought me here. "This is just the beginning. I won't let anyone destroy someone I love again."
In that moment, Piko appeared flying, shining with a magical aura, as if reminding me that I wasn't alone in this fight, and that together we could face anything this world threw at us.
With the village safe for now, alongside Aria, we looked towards the horizon, knowing that this world was full of even greater dangers, and that every step we took brought us closer to the vengeance that burned within me.
