The morning dawned calmly, with the sun bathing the village streets in a golden hue. I found myself at the guild, alongside Aria, Lysbeth, and Nara, reviewing the available mission listings.
"This will be our first formal mission together," Aria said, pointing to a parchment that showed the route to a nearby forest where medium-level monsters had been detected. "It's not too dangerous... but it'll serve to see how we work together."
I nodded, with my mind focused. Every experience was an opportunity to grow, perfect my skills, and get closer to the strength I needed for my vengeance.
Lysbeth approached with a serious expression. "Kaoru, remember: your power is impressive, but you're still new to this world. Coordination is more important than destroying everything in your path."
Nara, playful, crossed her arms and smiled. "Hmm... I like your style, Kaoru. But if you want to impress, you'll have to show it as a team, not just solo."
I smiled slightly, appreciating the interaction. For the first time since my arrival, I felt like I wasn't alone in the fight, and that these people could be my allies... or something more.
We left the city and ventured into the forest. The atmosphere changed quickly: the tall trees blocked the sunlight, and an unsettling silence reigned among them. Suddenly, several creatures emerged from the bushes: monsters resembling wolves, but larger, with sharp fangs and red eyes shining in the darkness.
"Get ready!" Aria shouted, taking a defensive position.
I took a deep breath, observing the enemies' movements. Each one had clear patterns of attack and weakness; my analytical mind worked perfectly. With a gesture, I launched a spell that combined fire and wind, knocking down two creatures instantly.
Lysbeth channeled her light magic, weakening the enemies. While Nara attacked from unexpected angles with her magical tricks.
The group's coordination, guided by me, was impeccable. As the battle progressed, the monsters began to retreat. I, without boasting, showed a controlled but intimidating strength. My presence emanated an aura that even the most ferocious beings seemed to feel.
When everything was over, we gathered, breathing heavily but satisfied. Aria looked at me with a proud smile. "Kaoru... you've improved a lot in a short time. Not just your strength, but your leadership ability."
Lysbeth nodded. "It's true. Your power is overwhelming, but so is your strategic mind. I'm sure we'll be able to achieve great things together."
Nara, with a mischievous smile, approached and said: "Hmm... interesting. Maybe this world isn't so boring after all."
I, on the other hand, watching the group, and remembering the tragedy, felt a mix of determination and warmth. For the first time, the idea of vengeance mingled with something more: the feeling of belonging to something, of having allies and moments worth protecting.
As we returned to the village successfully, Piko floated beside me, shining with excitement, as if celebrating not just the victory, but the beginning of a new adventure in which I was no longer alone.
"This world... has a lot to teach me. And I... am ready for whatever comes," I thought, with clenched fists and a heart full of determination.
