Chapter 46:
I Just Want to Live Quietly with My Books, But the Past I Want to Forget Keeps Chasing Me!
Six years had passed. I looked at our wedding photo on the wall, still in disbelief. My life, which was once simple and quiet, was now filled with color, laughter, and a bit of organized chaos. I married Haruka Minase, a completely unexpected woman.
It all started after I learned her true identity. I knew Haruka was a woman who dressed like a man, and she was an amazing pianist. But she was hiding one more secret.
I was waiting for her at a cafe. Haruka arrived in a neat suit and her short, well-kept hair. She sat across from me, her expression firm.
"Akira-kun," she said. "There's something important I have to tell you."
"What is it, Haruka?" I asked.
"I... I want you to know, my father is a police commissioner," she said. "And I... I'm going to be just like him."
I was speechless. So, besides being a pianist, she was also a police commissioner's daughter. I smiled.
"That's not a problem," I said. "I love you, Haruka. I love every part of you. I love your firm and disciplined side, but I also love the soft side of you when you play the piano."
Haruka looked at me, tears welling up in her eyes.
"So," I said. "Will you marry me? Will you be the queen of my heart?"
Haruka was silent. She smiled, then took my hand. "You're a very brave man, Akira-kun," she said. "Of course, I will."
Now, Haruka and I were married. I became a famous lawyer, and Haruka became a police commissioner, just like her father. My life, which was once quiet, was now filled with happiness.
Every morning, Haruka would wake me up with her yelling. "Akira! Wake up! Don't be late!"
I could only sigh. But at night, after she took off her uniform, she would become a soft woman. She would sit at the piano and play a beautiful melody. It was the same melody I had heard at the station. The melody that calmed me.
I sat next to her, listening. Haruka looked at me, smiling. "Akira-kun," she called.
"Yes?"
"I... I love you."
I hugged her. "I love you too, Haruka," I said. "Thank you for coming into my life."
Haruka smiled. "You are my life," she replied.
I knew I was no longer alone. I had Haruka, a woman who had two different worlds. A woman who was very firm, but also very soft. A woman who was very beautiful, but dressed like a man.
I loved every part of her. And that was the perfect ending for me.
