Chapter 29:
God Games
Justice nodded before placing down the piece and leaving through the door. Falsity stood up from her seat. Silas glanced over towards her, away from the door, confused at her sudden change of plans.
“Tell me, Silas, if your mortals died in this god game for an exchange, would you take it?”
His eyes furrow, and he tries his best to think of an answer.
Standing up from his chair, the mechanical gears of it stopped turning like he was their source of power. “Do you have anything to offer that could exceed my loss, or rather the division's loss, I assume?”
“They won't know; it will be my betrayal. I would rather have allies, however, than be alone in this game, so that's why I'm going to decide based on your decision.”
Her words were as sweet as honey. The promise that he could get out of a powerful goddess was definitely convincing, considering his odds of winning the game anyway.
He doesn't know, however; it's just a way to better my standing. If he accepts, then it's true that he's no better than the piece I play with.
“I will consider it if you promise that you will make me win a god game; even when it comes down to the last group battling, you will forfeit. You are one to deceive, after all."
= Guess there is some sort of knowledge and power in that mechanical god; that's a fair price considering everything. However, the next god game won't be something I decide to win or not. Something beyond my control will emerge from this game once it's done.
“I take that offer; you will have my full support.” She gave him a small handshake; it was gentle yet firm enough to understand that this was a deal.
Falsity lets out a chuckle.
“all it takes is one tap from my devoted to do this. Timing isn't an issue.” She steps around her dark room; the endless black walls and floor stretch forever.
She makes her way to where they always did to depart from the room; the door slowly manifested itself into reality as it shone the bright light of the lobby. Turning around to Silas, she utters,
“Let's introduce myself to your team,” she said in a way that sent a chill down his spine; it was almost like a shock that spread through his very core.
He nodded before leaving the door with Falsity, the red carpet, and the wooden overlook embracing their bodies. She walks over on her heels, tapping downwards, making a thudding sound. The view below was peaceful.
The number of deities has lowered by eighty-one, leaving nineteen to wander the lobby below. It was such a mesmerising sight to her that so many were knocked out by the eclipseion, on day two as well.
“Pretty empty for a day two; these usually last a week,” Silas said in a surprised tone as he saw the lack of deities below.
They walked across from the sin divisions lane towards the centre stairs; the walk wasn't that big. The opposite lane housing was the Purity division; they didn't appear this time.
Descending the stairs of the lobby to the main floor, they were left alone; the seating around the place was certainly less used, but what caught their eyes was that no one this time was alone. The roles shifted to a major teamwork aspect rather early.
“Lead the way to your group, Silas.” Falsity allows him to take the lead.
He starts walking across the red carpet around the round tables in the middle to a secluded corner across from the falafel seat where she sat last time. He hurriedly went ahead, explaining the new ally they gained.
Falsity followed in soon after towards him, her gaze sweeping the people who sat at the secluded corner table; she caught glimpses of two individuals within the divisions that would join her.
The first was made of entirely pure elements; he had a rock-solid body that towered over any other deity in this room at around eight feet. His eyes were made of flames that wouldn't die. Pure water was flowing inside the rocks as his life source, while the wind pushed it around within.
His appearance made no sense, but it was a deity; the rocks seemed to be almost reacting like a normal body when he moved. Was it a mere skeleton, perhaps? Everything was truly rock; however, his face and smile were no exception.
someone made for the sole purpose of the world's existence, assuming their six members are left only, and Silas has four, then these must have one each
Secondly, there was a drowsy girl next to them; her eye bags screamed out despite not needing sleep, while her body arched, lying itself onto the table, her chest and stomach pressed down, almost threatening to break the table from the immense pressure from her figure.
Her clothing consisted of a science coat and lab covering her entire body; its white aesthetic definitely gave off the nerdy type. She had neutrally flowing red hair down around her sides, tied with a hairpin in the shape of a love heart.
Does she even care about the games, or is she just here to study?
Falsity gives an annoyed glare towards Silas before turning around to meet the two deities. “In falsity, you're a new ally for the games.”
“I don't like you. I'm Era, goddess of science, if you couldn't tell already.” She had a monotone, smug tone in her, clearly not wanting this alliance.
Getting her out of the games would be a personal pleasure of this betrayal of mine.
“I’m Koraxa, Elemental god. I apologise for her abrupt words. We will make a lasting team, I hope.” His hoarse voice sounded like rocks being ground; it was unpleasant.
Falsity sits herself down at the other side while Silas joins her. This new alliance of theirs will prove to be troublesome before even starting.
