THE NAME FOR UNITY

For a day, one's life may change. A day so important to every citizen, a day filled with curiosity alongside fear and anxiety. The announcement is made ; people are rushing from all directions. After all, everyone wants to hear what the new ruler has in store for the people. Only after seeing, understanding, and confirming safety will the people rest at ease.

Rukito had put the broadcasting artifact to work to ensure his appearance and speech are heard far and wide, even by those who don't have the means to travel. The artifact uses sound and light magic to deliver a great viewing experience. It is an artifact only the royal family possesses .

Clad in regal and magnificent garments befitting a king, Rukito strides onto the stage, greeting the audience with a wave. Numerous people identify him and murmur to one another, "Is it truly possible? "He was the person who cured my leg." Some concur and add, "That was the very individual who rescued me from the edge of dying." "I have never witnessed anyone so skilled at healing that they can regenerate limbs in mere seconds." Might he truly become the next monarch? The crowd is in astonishment, with a few in denial. Is it possible that the person who cured and aided them, even while distributing food, could truly be the new king?      

Alas, my efforts were not in vain. Without speaking a single word , the crowd is going wild for me. Good things truly come to those who do good. I made a perfect stage for myself, crafting and planning for the future. Developing and revolutionizing this world. As a king, the one thing I forgot to prepare was a speech. I'm in front of the crowd that's waiting for my words, so I can't ask anyone for advice. With the elves, it was different, as they get new kings whenever the World Tree wants to change it. Okay, it's fine; all I have to do is speak my mind, and it should come naturally. 

Just then, Athena comes up on stage and addresses the people, "Greetings, all of you. Many of you don't know me, but I know you very well. I have lived in this country since the time I was born. Most of you are now questioning who I could be; well, I will tell you now that this is my truth. My father hated me because I was a girl -a lie painted on top , creating the prince you all know as Arthur. My life was hell, as was the life of the elven people. But it never stopped there, as I found out my father wanted to sell out our world to people beyond the stars. It was I who secretly sought out the elven king. I found King Rukito by chance and informed him. He is truly a righteous ruler and wants to help his people. So I think that King Rukito will lead us to peace and protect our lands."  

With Athena starting things off, I feel more confident to add on. I originally had her speak after me , but this seems to work out better. I never knew she was so good at speeches.

"Thank you, Athena . I shall take it from here."
"As many of you are in the dark about what happened as well as the reason for the war, I am here to tell you. But first, I wish to speak about the losses of the people. In a war between nations, the people are innocent but are the ones to suffer. I am deeply saddened that so many lives were lost. A lot of you lost family, friends, and loved ones.
 But did they die in vain? Did their lives mean nothing? No , it did not! They died protecting the people they love. The former king was evil and got what he deserved. God's might is powerful; even innocent people were caught in it. But worry not, as they are watching over us in heaven while we, the living, must pray for them.
The king oppressed the elves, starving them, enslaving them, and assaulting them. He had his people perform horrific experiments on my fellow elves.
 At first, my hatred was directed at humanity itself, but after knowing Athena, she opened my eyes. While that so-called king was evil, his people were clueless. His greed was too much. He invaded and conquered nations nonstop using power that was not his. I came to know of his plans by investigating it personally.
I will have the nobles share the evidence later. My purpose was small but became significant the deeper I went .
 At this point in time, no one can do anything as your houses and livelihoods were destroyed , so the first thing I will do as your new king is rebuild the homes for the common people. I swear to make this country the best the world has ever seen.
 I will establish new laws to ensure the safety of the public and create a just system for all. Those with talent, regardless of background, will be recognized for their worth. The elves and Nekomimi will tell you that they live good lives under my rule, so I ensure that the same goes for you. To mark the unity of the nation, I have come up with a new name for our country.
 The name of this kingdom is now Veridia, a nation that strives for peace and harmony. I shall rebuild schools , teaching the youth so they can become capable mages and fighters. We will grow stronger together, so if an enemy comes, we shall not lose anyone!" 

Rukito continues by sharing his plans as the people listen and agree with his words. Rukito had won the crowd before speaking but now has the undying loyalty of the people as a true liberator who cares for fairness and harmony. A man responsible for wiping out most of the kingdom just won the love of its people by telling the truth, with small lies in between. But with Rukito now in power, how will the neighboring kingdoms react ? Will they underestimate his power or fear his might?    

Following a tiring day, Rukito can at last return home and relax. However, upon his arrival, he is confronted with information that infuriates him. What has occurred, and how will he handle it?
