Chapter 54:
Rockstar Isekai: fighting against Silence
As soon as the livestream started, big screens appeared all over Roselond’s forts, broadcasting Rockstar Isekai everywhere in the continent.
Natsuo smirked and approached the microphone.
“Hi, everyone, we’re Rockstar Isekai. This is our first livestream! Today we’re going to play some songs for all the soldiers who are fighting to save Roselond from the silent monsters. Enjoy!” he said.
Richard More looked out of the window, where a big screen appeared in mid-air and, inside it, there were the five guys of Rockstar Isekai. He heard Natsuo’s words and the corners of his lips lifted.
“That guy is full of surprises” he commented.
“The first song we’re going to perform is Broken Bones, the first on the tracklist of our first homonymous album. Roselond, let’s rock together!” Natsuo exclaimed.
The lights in the garage flashed and he glanced at the other members.
“One… Two… Three… Four…”
Gregory hit the drums with energy and Tristan started playing the bass line. They started the intro alone.
After a few beats, Natsuo joined them. The chemistry between his guitar and Tristan’s bass was breathtaking.
Natsuo glanced at Tristan, who was totally immersed in the performance, and put even more energy. He certainly couldn’t be outdone by him.
Olive held her microphone tightly, her heart beating faster than usual. She approached her lips to the mic and started singing.
Beatrice immediately started playing together with her. Her hands were trembling, but she couldn’t make any mistake: she didn’t want to ruin the performance.
Natsuo put the healing attribute to the song, so all the soldiers that listened to the livestream would have healed from the injuries, and also the strength attribute, to help them fight.
All the soldiers in the battlefield and in the forts were startled to see the big screens, but they immediately recognized Rockstar Isekai and felt reassured to know they were by their side. They resumed fighting with renewed energy.
The group performed all of the nine songs in their album and boosted the soldiers, turning the tables in their favour.
As the last song, they played Burning, the overall fan favourite, according to Beatrice.
“Roselond, let’s burn the stage together!” Olive exclaimed, then started singing.
Thanks to Rockstar Isekai, the soldiers weren’t just physically boosted, but also psychologically. Hearing their favourite songs, they felt empowered and fought with more determination.
Natsuo improvised a guitar solo, caught up by the excitement of the moment.
The others heard that it was different than usual and turned to him.
He was smiling like he never did and he was clearly having fun. He felt the adrenaline flow through his veins, it was different from when they were practicing. He could feel the energy of his bandmates enriching his own performance and that pushed him to do even better.
It felt like he was out of his mind, but at the same time, that was the best version of himself.
The spotlights lit up his figure, all invested in his solo. Tristan’s eyes widened: he looked like a star, a real star. Was that the meaning of being a rockstar? He wanted to be one, too. He wanted to become that cool, too. He wanted to shine bright like Natsuo.
After the last song ended, all of them were breathless. The last performance was very intense.
As the livestream was coming to an end, the number of monsters had drastically decreased. After hearing their incredible performance, the soldiers cheered for them from behind the screens and kept on fighting more intensely, slaying monster after monster.
Natsuo approached his microphone.
“That’s all for Rockstar Isekai’s first livestream, thank you for watching us! We can’t wait to see you in person at our next concert!” he exclaimed. “Let’s keep on fighting together for a brighter future!”
All the members did the rock sign with their hands in front of the camera and Natsuo ended the recording.
The garage went back to normal and all the members gathered around Natsuo.
Gregory hugged everyone in his long arms.
“I bet we were amazing! Rockstar Isekai is the best!” he exclaimed.
“Natsuo! Your last guitar solo was incredible! Can you teach me more things, I want to improve to become as good as you” said Tristan.
His eyes glistened, eager to improve.
Natsuo chuckled. “Of course.”
“Natsuo, you made me fall in love with you even more with that improvisation!” Beatrice exclaimed, gushing over.
“You’re overreacting…” commented Olive.
Natsuo burst out laughing.
“You did a good job, considering it was your first performance, Beatrice” he said, then turned to Olive and handed her a honey candy. “Make sure your throat is fine. If you ruin your voice, who will sing for me?”
Olive accepted the candy, blushing a little.
Suddenly, they heard someone knocking on the garage’s shutter. Natsuo opened it and a soldier appeared at the entrance.
“They’re here! A group of monsters has reached the city!” he exclaimed.
Natsuo turned to the others.
“Let’s go, we have work to be done.”
Rockstar Isekai left the garage and reached the entrance of Blossomhyl. The gates were broken and a group of silent monsters of a greenish colour were advancing. Natsuo guessed that they were monsters of the ghost type.
Right when he transformed his guitar into the scythe, the group of monsters opened in the center and made way for someone.
A knight, who was wearing armour of the same greenish colour, rode a horse calmly and held a scythe in his right hand.
Natsuo’s eyes widened. He was the fourth Vassal.
Even if he looked like the others, the aura he emanated was different. Natsuo had the feeling that this one was much stronger.
Everyone, Rockstar Isekai and the soldiers of Unit 1, was frozen by fear at the sight of him. Even if they wanted to do something, their legs were blocked.
Just his presence was enough to make them tremble.
What was this feeling? It was similar to the one Natsuo felt before dying.
Was it… fear of death?
