Chapter 60:

Gluttony

God Games

Shina's eyes locked onto Silas, his body still trying to get out of the hold of the tendrils firmly grasping him. His body twisted and turned, but nothing came of it, no matter how much he tried.

She hovers in front of his face; she stares towards his soul like a creature waiting for its moment to shine, seeing the prey finally give up. “You weren’t wise to betray Lady Falsity; you will become my nourishment.”

Putting out her palm, she manifests her orb into existence, its black centre and pale glow surrounding its outline, giving a hint of fear towards Silas as he struggles harder, knowing this might be his last time.

Falsity quickly teleported beside Shina Awat from the viewing platform before staring him down roughly, “Did you really think that the management team that couldn't stop me fully could now?”

“I did because they promised me a victory against everyone, in exchange for access to you, of course.” Silas let out a hysterical laugh. He got beaten despite all the help he received; it was mocking.

Falsity laughed with him. “I hope the next mechanical god will inherit a fear towards me then.”

Under her last words, Shina puts her palm out towards him before it starts to dissipate him completely from the face downwards; his cries are cut from the start, allowing a quiet death for him despite all the fighting that occurred before.

My power is rising to a deity,

Shina feels the insides of her body change; the magic system she once had starts to transform in real time, as if it were responding to the massive influx actively.

“Do you feel it, all that magic? All that power we can use to do as we were meant to all this time ago,” Falsity smirked, looking towards her, a dark glow emerging slowly, taking over her body.

Shina nodded in response; the changes made her more speechless than she already was. Turning into a deity was never her plan, but being right next to Falsity was something she wouldn't mind.

Lifting herself, Falsity cups Shina's chin as she finally showcases her black wings like the first time they met; her gaze poured down through her soul before seeing Shina grow dark, surrounding her with a black energy. Her uniform started to change from its dark grey attire to a peasant dress mixed with red, and ash formed onto her body, mimicking her hair.

“Your metamorphosis is going beautifully.” A smile crept onto her face. Shina was transforming in her life, a true deity being born from human flesh.

Her hand is warm and inviting. I finally got my goddess's approval.

Shina, for the first time, smiled back towards her; they both revelled in this scenario, while Toki and Ayuri in the distance could barely contain their rage.

The peasant dress now made into existence gave her a style comparable to Falsity; she started to gain wings as well from her back. It was like they were mimicking each other, showing off their close bond.

Her wings matched Falsity, a pure black colour; they felt like they were part of her body. All the time, despite having just manifested a couple of seconds ago, they felt right.

“Now, it's time to cut off the loose ends to end this game.” Falsity quickly waves her hand before appearing behind Toki and Ayuri. She takes her hand out before tapping Ayuri, causing her to vanish like nothing happened. Toki instantly grabs his spear before trying to stab Falsity.

She waves her hand like the first time, causing it to dissipate, the spear being nowhere to be seen at all.

“Don't use my power against me, nonbeliever,, she dismissed him quickly before staring up towards the bright sky, mocking all those looking down at them, at those who tried to prevent her plan, at those who revelled in her disappearance and finally at the ones in charge.

Toki does nothing. What could he do armed with nothing but his fists against a goddess? There was turmoil inside him, however, an unbearing grudge against Falsity that could never be made, his feet quickly shaking before the platform underneath his feet disappeared due to Ayuri being contained.

“That was our contract, done, wasn’t it?” Toki asked.

Falsity ignored him before shouting out, “I have brought a new deity from this game. You have to accept her. She is no longer human.”

Her words echoed across the barren landscape, but she wasn’t met with anything back but silence, which was enough in her eyes. She knew who would approach soon, either way.

After a couple of seconds, the entity with formal attire came down next to Falsity. Shina, seeing this, also flew over quickly with her immense speed and stared him down.

“The winner of god games, the deity called Gluttony,” he swung his hand towards Shina, giving her a soft smile on her face. It fitted her perfectly.

But I'm still here? If I'm still here, then how haven't the games continued?

Falsity gave a quick look down towards Toki, seeing his confusion. “Didn’t that thing tell you before? You're a contradiction from the moment you entered, so how is something that's not supposed to exist in a world made of magic supposed to win?”

“Are you saying they don't know about my existence?” His mouth wavered slightly as his eyes widened.

All she could do in response was laugh. “We will talk later; I have to come back anyway to void our contract in front of you.”

The formally attired entity then placed a ring around Falsity and Shina; a white beam formed all around them, blocking them from any view and blinding Toki. It stretched into the sky before it suddenly halted, letting Toki take a look around.

Are they gone? Not only them, but also that thing from before that announced the winner. Am I truly the last one left?

He took a look around; no life, nobody or nothing was in sight. Just ruined battlefields and a sense of loneliness; in the distance, the sun started to die out, and the grass started to turn black. Slowly, the world was destroying itself.
