Chapter 61:
God Games
This is the end. I have no weapon, nobody or anything to get out of here. Did everything I did amount to nothing?
The blackness consuming everything starts getting closer, its distance never slowing down. It was a matter of seconds, not minutes.
At least I protected Ayuri, the one I love. That's something I at least deserve credit for. Even if I couldn’t stop Shina
He grips his heart behind his school uniform tightly. He squeezes just enough to feel a pain spreading across his body.
I'm real, I feel pain, and I have emotions even if they are locked for now. I have aspirations, and I don't want things to end this way. So why am I treated like I don't exist?
His view of the sky vanishes, the grass beneath his feet vanishes, and everything turns into pure blackness. His body, however, didn't vanish like the rest of it. It stayed still, as if it refused to use its sheer willpower.
Why is it that when the whole world disappears, I remain?
He tries to move around his body, but each direction feels like it doesn't exist. Was he moving left or right? Up or down, it felt exactly like that time he got transported here. Was he just going to end up stuck forever?
Falsity said she would return to void the contract, but how can she even make it back?
He waited anxiously for her return, but she never came. Not even once did he hear anyone's voice or presence for what seemed like hours. He was left with the limitations of his mind, the limitations that still helped him from spilling everything out; it was a blessing in this darkest time.
Is she even going to come?
The moment that thought passed, Falsity opened a door from one black room to his. Her room and this void being perfectly coloured was ironic, as it seemed like she appeared out of a door.
"I'm here to void the contract," she floats over towards him, her wings being gone again. She only uses them for show after all.
Toki stares at her; it was more of a glare, but he takes the piece of paper, seeing the contract. It was exactly what was told between them, helping Shina to ascend to keep Ayuri safe.
“How do we finish it?” He asked.
Falsity sighs, “Just say it's complete; I already have.”
“It's complete.” The paper in his hand crumbled to pieces before it shredded itself away, its power and hold over them vanishing. An emotional surge is coming towards Toki as tears start leaving his eyes uncontrollably. He already made peace with everything, but it's like his body hasn't.
“For your participation, I will tell you what happens. That's the least you deserve after slowing my plans so much,” Falsity rolled her eyes before staring down at him.
Toki, lashing out in tears, looks back with confusion. “I didn't slow your plans at all. Everything went as intended.”
“Oh, you haven't? There are plenty of ways you have; for example, you chose to hide the one survivor secret.” Her eyes looked deadpan towards him.
He laughed. “That was a lie, wasn’t it? It seems that three of us still are alive by the end of the games, but it was expected out of a god built from falsity; you're just like the word itself.”
“I told everyone lies; all of them were used to keep everything under my control. And it worked at the end. You might be wondering why I'm admitting to this, but it's because you're going to be stuck here either way.” A small laughter escaped her; the relief of holding it all in and the satisfaction that she will get from this mortal was her bonus.
“Stuck?” He replied.
Falsity nodded. “That contract, or any contract we’ve done, never stated anything about you leaving. It never considered your safety, but your little love dove, you cared so much about.”
There is no way I can stay here for longer than I have. There is nothing here, not anywhere at all.
“A hundred years – that's how much you will be stuck for before the next game begins,” she exclaimed dramatically.
Toki laughed to himself. It was comical to see himself stuck in an empty void. “A hundred years of nothingness, then what? I will join the game again and be stuck for another hundred years repeating this cycle until I give up. Luckily, you forgot that we have limited lifespans.”
“You have no lifespan. If you were made with magic, then yes, that's perhaps possible, but since you don't exist in this current state, then it means you won't age. Not ever for however much longer you can survive.”
His mouth hangs open while his eyes close in frustration. He grits his teeth. “What about Ayuri?”
“I will make sure she doesn’t die; I wouldn't want my new pawn to die before its full use, would I? You can rest assured she will survive even if she isn't the same anymore.”
This Bitch! She dares to make me sit here; she then wants to change Ayuri into her pawn. What gives this goddess the right to use and dispose of us so easily? I hate her; I hate falsity.
Falsity laughed at his gritted face. She loved every moment of this. “You don't deserve anything; you slowed it down by hiding my lies, you rejected my path and became acquainted with love. You put this on yourself, nonbeliever.”
Toki instantly moves his body, trying to land a punch towards her. He controls his body in the void before striking towards her. To his surprise, it connected perfectly towards her stomach, but her body didn't sway; she just glared down with amusement.
“You are nothing without my power; that spear was never yours. As a matter of fact, without the others, you would already have been dead. That strategist took on the leader role while you were injured, and the other two became leading figures after, and you were useless.”
He clenches his fists. “I managed to get the goddess of love with me; I managed to make us survive early.”
“And that's all because you had no magic, which is because of me, she pointed out.
Toki laughed, “Without the support of a higher deity, you wouldn't even exist! You are nothing but a pawn yourself.”
Falsity took an arm back before returning a punch towards his stomach, sending him flying away from her, further down into the abyss, his body screaming in pain from the hit.
“Everything you did, everything different, was part of my plan. Just remember that.” She turned around before floating over to the same door and closing it, leaving Toki alone for the next hundred years.
I promise, I won't let her live even if it takes me multiple lifespans of a human, even if it makes me sacrifice everything. Even if I lose myself, who I am, and my future, then I will be satisfied once she falls.
