Chapter 10:

Soft Snow and Rainbows [Log 1 ]

Stardust

Laya

Elmir was beautiful, with its soft snow dancing from the clear sky and a myriad of rainbows illuminated its atmosphere every morning when the cold rays of the sun reflected in the tiny ice crystals that hung high above us. It was cold, but I had got used to it pretty quickly. It wasn’t the worst place we’d stayed in during our travels, as sis had even rented a room, so we didn’t need to stay on board Minerva in the noisy dock trying to repair her before our next voyage.

It was sad to abandon her after everything she had done for us, and I hoped her next owner would take care of her as we had. She was our home, and I knew I would miss her. It seemed unfair that we needed to lose something to gain something else. I whispered it to Sol as I sat on her lap in the cockpit, watching the engineer console I was so familiar with for the last time. She understood, as she always did. It made me happy that I had someone I could tell things I would never dare to tell my sis.

She had taken care of me since I could remember, and I didn’t want to burden her with my childish problems that I knew she would take seriously, no matter how silly they were. I really wanted to help her as much as I could, and I wished that her life would be easier, even if this meant spending my free time studying engineering diagrams rather than playing with my toys. I wanted her to be happy, so I didn’t really mind it so much.

In a few days, we would leave again, setting our course towards another distant star, but this time it would be different. I looked at Sol, wondering how it would be to travel with her, before remembering that Karla would also come with us, at least for this journey. I really missed her and hoped she would stay. It would make sis so happy.
