Chapter 620:
En Passant Grandmaster
Here is the tale of a little game. The game began with an Old Benoni Defense, consisting of d4 and c5. The pawn at c5 was quickly captured by the d-pawn, yet Black wasn't perturbed in the slightest, moving his pawn to e6. Knight f3 was next, but then came the time for aggression from Black as he opted to capture the pawn at c5 with his bishop. White was shocked, but not upset as she moved her bishop to g5, hoping for an easy queen snag.
"Naive," Black scoffed as he moved his queen to b6.
"Am not!" White spat back as she moved her knight to e5.
"But you are. Check," Black scoffed as he captured the pawn at f2 with his bishop, forcing White's king to d2. "This leads to another check," he added as he moved his queen to a5.
"You belittle me too much!" White cringed as she moved her pawn to c3.
"Then why do I have a knight?" Black asked as he captured the knight at e5 with his queen.
"I don't need that," White spat as she moved her queen to a4.
"Nor the bishop. Check," Black scowled as he captured the bishop at g5 with his queen.
"I... didn't need that either," White trembled as she moved her king to d3.
"Perhaps you don't need your king either," Black scoffed as he moved his knight to a6.
"This is all stupid. Why is the king so weak?" White scowled as she moved her knight to d2.
"Tis the game. But first, check and farewell to your queen," Black huffed as he moved his knight to c5.
Sweat began to drip down White's face as she scowled and moved her king to c4.
"Actually, I take that back. Your queen shall live," Black scoffed as he captured the knight at d2 with his queen.
"As it should be!" White huffed as she moved her queen to a3.
"No, me forsaking your queen just means I have a bigger prize. Check," Black declared as he moved his pawn to d5.
There was no escaping it now. White moved her king to b5, but bishop d7 was there with another check, sending the king to a5. B6, check forced king b4, and then a5, check, forced the queen to take on a5.
"No! My queen!" White cried.
"Your queen? Your queen is spared, but not your king. Checkmate," Black declared as he captured the pawn at b2 with his queen, winning the game.
