Sophie was beautiful.

It was as simple as that.

There were people who were easy on the eyes, and you couldn’t help just following them wherever they went. Hana Lee thought it was ridiculous that social media apps like StarCam were ridiculous—why would a person follow someone who posted images of their face and clips of their day?

Were those really interesting?

Wasn’t that narcissistic of the one who kept posting pictures of themselves?

How about those who found it interesting to follow someone simply because they looked attractive? Wasn’t that being shallow? Hana didn’t get it before. She had her fair share of celebrity crushes, but it wasn’t like she was going to keep following their day-to-day lives.

Hana was a casual fan.

But at that moment, Hana thought a love arrow by Cupid—or Eros, if she wanted to get Greek—struck her.

There was the lighting, sparkles and everything that happened in a shoujo anime when Sophie appeared in the cafeteria that made her stare at the girl and found herself amazed.

This young woman walked with a certain grace and charm. Gorgeous was the right word.

Sophie’s hair fell in all the right places, her skin was clear and her eyes inviting—

Aaron Meyers waved a hand in front of Hana’s face and tossed Tristan a look. “Is Hana the type to appreciate girl beauty? She’s gawking far more than me.”

Tristan only wrinkled his nose, but only shrugged. “Who knows?”

Phoebe only smiled and found it amusing. “Ah, it’s a girl crush—but, let me introduce you guys to her.” She stood up from her seat and waved a hand, and started calling out to the beautiful young woman. “Sophie, over here!”

Both Aaron and Hana looked back at Phoebe in panic.

Their expressions were both a similar amount of horror, embarrassment and various other emotions in that moment. The world seemed to turn slow-motion as Sophie made her way to them.

Sophie looked like a gorgeous angel when she arrived at their table, carrying nothing but a lunch tray filled with a healthy and nutritious serving of their Monday Special. It was some sort of tofu salad and a bottle of carrot juice.

Meatless Monday.

Neither of which any of them actually chose.

Sophie greeted them with a friendly smile. “Hi, Phoebe—you were inviting me to sit at your table?”

Phoebe nodded. “Yeah, well… I was planning to just introduce you quickly. Where are Christian and the others? Usually, you sit with them, right?”

“They have soccer practice right now, so I was deciding whom to sit lunch with today.” Sophie explained, much to the chagrin of Aaron, until she glanced at them and sheepishly grinned. “But pardon my manners, you three are Phoebe’s friends?”

Hana didn’t want to overstate things—but she wanted shades to block out the light. The girl’s smile was so bright and stunning that Hana wanted to hiss and cower underneath the table, if it was possible.

Or she could melt in her chair immediately.

“Hey,” Tristan greeted with a small nod.

“Um, hi—Aaron Meyers, Computer Science department.” Aaron introduced himself smoothly enough with a grin.

“And I’m Hana,” Hana said with a small smile. “If we’re going with Aaron’s introduction, I’m from the Business College. Finance.”

“I’m from the same college—though I take marketing.” Sophie replied with a smile and settled down beside Phoebe. “It’s my first time meeting all of you, so hi again and thanks for letting me join you guys.”

“No problem at all.”

“Of course!”

None of the three actually said yes in the first place. Phoebe was the one who called Sophie over—but none were willing to disagree or correct her.

Phoebe looked like she was moments away from slapping a hand over her face before she motioned to Tristan. “Quiet guy is Tristan Jay. Call him Tristan, Tan or Jay.”

“Oh, now you mentioned his name—I recognize you.” Sophie exclaimed and leaned forward a bit. “You were the one on our varsity team. I think Christian mentioned you before as a skilled player.”

“I see, thanks.” Tristan responded with a simple nod again. “I don’t know him.”

Hana wanted to kick the guy in the leg to perk him up a little. It was rare for them to have other people at their table and Tristan was already kind of ruining the experience. It was a good thing that Aaron interjected and saved the day.

Or maybe he actually didn’t.

“You know, if you didn’t say you were from Marketing—I would have assumed you were taking Modeling or Tourism,” Aaron said.

“Really?” Sophie smiled lightly. “I’ve heard that before, but nope. I’m Marketing department through and through.”

Phoebe looked like she wanted to knock her head on the table for Aaron picking up the cheesiest pickup line, but much to Hana’s surprise, both Aaron and Sophie started talking easily. The conversation flowed well enough.

It seemed like Phoebe didn’t even need to provide much input.

Sophie genuinely seemed interested in learning about all of them. “Do people really just ask you to build websites out of nowhere?”

“They’re bound to assume that I do those—but my course isn’t just about making websites at all. I know how to program and stuff, but that’s like one element in what I do.”

“You must be really great at math though.”

“Oh, I’m… like, good enough.” Aaron rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.

“Sure you are.” Tristan rolled his eyes as he finished his lunch and pushed his plate away slightly. Compared to others on the table, he was really the fastest one to finish.

Hana was sorta just picking at her food and listening to them talk. She could probably say something to include herself in the topic, but it was fine just listening to them talk.

Sophie’s gaze immediately drifted to Tristan, and she smiled slightly. “Is the story different? You never mentioned what you were taking, Tan.”

“It’s really unfair if you ask Tristan what he thinks about my math skills—this guy has an athletic scholarship.”

“Really? That’s amazing!” Sophie smiled. “You look really fit, I can tell.”

“But I don’t think that’s a good way of measuring my math skills at all,” Tristan dryly said. “I’m just stating facts that Aaron here… well, he’s actually better than he lets on.”

“Come on, let me stay humble!” Aaron laughed and elbowed Tristan’s side.

“You guys are so cute. You get along so well.”

Phoebe nodded along and chuckled. “If it weren’t for Hana and I being here, the two could have been really content just being at each other’s side.”

“Hey, a friend group isn’t complete if it’s just two.” Sophie looked at them. “Although I was bound to assume that you guys were like couples on a double date.”

“Us? Dating. That’s ridiculous. We’re all single—especially Phoebe over here.” Aaron spoke up and then went 180 degrees as he motioned to himself. “I mean, I’m the most single out of them. I don’t know if Phoebe’s got anyone. Tristan and Hana are in a state of denial, but I’m really single.”

“You know it sounds kinda depressing when you keep pointing that out,” Tristan said.

Sophie stifled a laugh. “Hey, if there’s a party—I can introduce you to some of my friends. I’m sure they’ll find you cute.”

“Really?” Aaron said. He gave Tristan a smug look and then nodded. “Count me in.”

“Sounds great, I’ll let you guys know when there’s one coming up.” Sophie said as she took out her phone. She stood up and picked up her tray. “I need to get going now. I have to be fifteen minutes early as class representative in my next subject, so I’ll keep in touch.”

“Thanks, Sophie,” Phoebe said with a smile. “I hope you don’t regret inviting him over.”

“Quit ruining my game!”

“Hey, if you guys all get along—I don’t think there’s going to be any problems.” Sophie called out with a smile, then waved at them before she finally left.

Once Sophie left the cafeteria, Aaron let out a sigh of relief. “Don’t just suddenly invite girls over, Phoebe. I need to get into the proper frame of mind for meeting with them.”

“You’re ridiculous.” Phoebe scrunched up her nose. “Could have acted normal like Tristan or Hana.”

“I think Aaron wasn’t all that bad,” Hana said with a sheepish shrug. “I mean, Tristan and I barely talked.”

“You guys were fine, don’t sweat it.”

Hana couldn’t help but inwardly disagree with Phoebe. She felt convinced that there was something different about Sophie besides being pretty; she was actually engaging to talk with more than others.

Like all of those proper social skills.

So this was what it was like to be someone with over two thousand followers in StarCam.

It was now one of Hana’s aspirations..
